SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT
DECEMBER 7, 2025
Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.
Today's readings show us the example of someone who lived a life committed to repentance, longing to be ready, converted; someone desperate to announce that the promised moment had arrived. John the Baptist, born by divine will from Zachariah and Elizabeth, both in their old age. Jesus' cousin, he decided to abandon his paternal heritage at Jerusalem's temple. John appeared in the desert shaking the powerful Roman Empire, and the Jewish religious establishment, making them uncomfortable.
From the desert, the Baptist's voice resounds in the Jewish world's structures. It is not the emperor's voice, but the humble John's who asks, from all who want to hear him, a conversion of heart. He has a message that invites people to be ready, and to make a radical change in their lives. In other words, to quit all wrong doings, and
to follow a path that leads to God. From then on,John has a place among God's chosen ones.
John invited Jewish people to be prepared, to be ready by changing their wrong paths. It is the same invitation that we receive today, namely to receive Jesus in our daily lives. It is an invitation to level the hills of our vanity and selfishness; it is an invitation to fill the potholes of our pride and our weaknesses; it is an invitation to destroy all barriers that set us apart from our neighbor It is an invitation to level, to work, and to promote all those actions that could bring peace and harmony among all human beings.
Today, let us restlessly work to build a world where understanding and peace govern over all injustice. As the prophet Isaiah proclaimed today: a world where “The wolf will be a guest of the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; the calf and the young lion shall browse together, with a little child to guide them.” It will be then that we shall straighten our ways, and prepare the way of the Lord!

SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE ADVIENDO
7 DE DICIEMBRE DE 2025 CONVIÉRTANSE, PORQUE ESTA CERCA EL REINO DE LOS CIELOS.
Las lecturas de este domingo nos presentan el mejor de los ejemplos de alguien que lucho por arrepentirse, por estar preparado, por convertirse, por anunciar que el tiempo se había cumplido. Juan el Bautista, nacido por voluntad divina de Zacarías e Isabel, ambos en su vejez. Primo de Jesús, abandona su herencia paterna en el templo de Jerusalén. Juan aparece en el desierto incomodando al poderío del imperio romano, y también al poder religioso del templo en Jerusalén.
Desde el desierto se escucha una voz que cimbra las estructuras del mundo judío. No es la voz del emperador, sino la del humilde Juan, la que pide un cambio en el corazón de todos cuantos desean escucharlo. Es un mensaje que invita a la gente a estar listos, a hacer un cambio radical en sus vidas. En otras palabras, a abandonar el pecado y a seguir una ruta nueva que conduzca a Dios.A partir de este momento, Juan tiene un lugar junto a los elegidos de Dios.
Juan invitaba a los judíos a prepararse, a estar listos cambiando sus hábitos equivocados. Es la misma invitación que nos hace hoy a recibir a Jesús en nuestra vida diaria. Es una invitación a rebajar las montañas del orgullo y la vanidad; una invitación a rellenar los huecos de nuestra mezquindad y de nuestras debilidades; una invitación a derrumbar las barreras que producen odio y división con nuestros semejantes; una invitación a nivelar, a trabajar, y a promover acciones que traigan paz y armonía entre los seres humanos.
Trabajemos incansablemente por construir un mundo en donde la paz y el entendimiento reinen por sobre cualquier injusticia. Como describe el profeta Isaías,un lugar donde “El lobo habite con el cordero,el novillo y el león caminen juntos,la vaca y la osa puedan convivir; un mundo en donde el niño pueda jugar sin temor junto a la serpiente ” Será entonces que estaremos enderezando nuestros senderos, ¡y preparando el camino del Señor!

Những bài đọc hôm nay cho chúng ta gương sáng
của một người dành cả đời sống của mình cho sự ăn
năn thống hối, người đã từ lâu sẵn sàng khao khát hoán cải, người đã liều mạng công bố thời điểm lời
hứa ơn cứu độ đã đến. Gioan tẩy giả thiên ý tiền định,
được sinh ra bởi ông Gia-ca-ri-a và bà Eli-za-bét, cả hai
đã cao tuổi. Là anh em họ của Chúa Giêsu, người đã từ
bỏ quyền thừa hưởng vị trí của cha mình tư tế trong đền thờ Giêrusalem. Ông Gioan xuất hiện trong sa mạc làm lung lay sức mạnh của đế quốc Rôma, và là mối lo ngại sự thịnh trị của DoThái giáo
Từ nơi hoang địa, tiếng kêu của Gioan Tẩy Giả vang dội vào trong mọi tầng lớp của người Do Thái. Không phải là tiếng nói của vua quan quyền lực, nhưng là của một Gioan khiêm hạ kêu gọi mọi người hoán cải tâm hồn. Ngài mời gọi mọi người sẵn sàng và thay đổi tận gốc rễ cuộc đời mình. Nói cách khác, loại bỏ mọi sai trái, và đi theo đường Chúa dẫn dắt. Từ lúc ấy Gioan đã được đứng trong hàng những người Chúa chọn.
Thánh Gioan kêu gọi người Do Thái sẵn sàng bằng cách từ bỏ đường lối lam lạc. Cùng một cách thế, hôm nay chúng ta cũng được mời gọi chính là nhận lấy đức Giêsu vào trong đời sống hằng ngày. Đó cũng là lời mời gọi loại bỏ chướng ngại do sự tìm kiếm hư ảo và ích kỷ; cũng là lời mời gọi lấp đầy những hố sâu của những su tự phụ và những yếu đuối của mình; một lời mời gọi phá bỏ những rào cản giữa chúng ta và tha nhân; lời mời gọi sang bằng để hướng đến những hành động mang lại hoà bình và hoà hợp cho toàn thể nhân loại.
Ước chi từ nay chúng ta luôn làm việc để xây dựng một thế giới của sự hiểu biết và bình an chống lại mọi bất công. như tiên tri Isaia đã tuyên bố hôm nay: một thế giới nơi “Sói sống chung với chiên con; beo nằm chung với dê; bò con, sư tử và chiên sẽ ở chung với nhau; con trẻ sẽ dẫn dắt các thú ấy” Rồi chúng ta sẽ đi thẳng trên con đường của chúng ta và chuẩn bị con đường cho Chúa!
