Holy Gospel

The Catholic Church begins today a new Liturgical year with our Advent Season. This is the season when we prepare ourselves for the coming of Jesus in a total fashion: yesterday, today, and forever. Yesterday when we remember his humble birth in a hostile cave in Bethlehem more than 20 centuries ago, we also prepare ourselves to receive Him today, in the here and now of our daily life. But we are also preparing ourselves to receive Him forever while meditating on His second coming at the end of times. The Advent message is to be in constant alert, not because of fear, but because we have placed our hopes in eternal life. But the faithful hope that we have, thanks to Jesus’ promises, must not lead us to ignore our worldly responsibilities.

What we really need to be prepared for is to nurture our soul and our spirit. This is the factual invitation springing out from today’s Gospel; an invitation to a renewal in our hearts, a renewal in our priorities that would lead us to be worthy of facing Christ Jesus in a personal encounter with Him in the deepness of our hearts. An encounter as the one the Psalmist proclaimed today, an encounter where the Lord will: “Give us new life!” The invitation today is one to meditate in: how can we make a real change in our lives? Do we really want to begin making all those needed changes in the deepness of our hearts? We are able to begin our conversion by becoming repentant of all our sins and shortcomings, repentant of all those times when we have offended our neighbor. We can also make the commitment to become more Christ like in our daily life.

Today we can make our conversion what Jesus taught us last week. Let us take the challenge to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to welcome the stranger, to comfort all those who are sick, to visit the one who is in jail. Let us make the decision to contribute all our talents and resources to promote any deed of social justice for the benefit of the least of our brothers and sisters. Let us become compassionate and merciful Christians, always looking for what is just and right.

We pray for children who are suffering, especially those who are homeless, orphans, and victims of war; may they be guaranteed access to education and the opportunity to experience family affection.

Estas son las intenciones de oración del Papa Francisco Intención Universal- Octubre

Recemos para que la Iglesia, fiel al Evangelio y valiente en su anuncio, viva cada vez más la sinodalidad y sea un lugar de solidaridad, fraternidad y acogida.

El día de hoy, la Iglesia inicia un nuevo año Litúrgico con la temporada de Adviento. Es en esta temporada cuando nos preparamos para la venida, o la llegada de Jesús de una forma total: ayer, hoy y para siempre. Ayer, recordando su nacimiento en Belén hace ya más de 2000 años; nos preparamos a recibirlo también hoy, es decir, cada día de nuestras vidas; para siempre significa que meditamos acerca de su segunda venida al final de los tiempos. El mensaje de Adviento es estar en constante vigilancia, no por miedo, sino por tener nuestra esperanza en la vida eterna. Pero esta esperanza que tenemos, gracias a la promesa de Cristo, jamás nos debe conducir a ignorar nuestras responsabilidades en este mundo.

La verdadera preparación que debemos procurar para nuestro espíritu, y a la cual el evangelio de hoy nos invita, es a la renovación interior de nuestros corazones, una renovación que nos haga realmente dignos de recibir a Jesús en ellos. Como el salmista proclama: una preparación que “nos dará ¡vida nueva!” La invitación de hoy es a meditar en ¿cómo podemos efectuar un cambio real en nuestras vidas? ¿Queremos realmente hacer cambios en la profundidad de nuestro ser? Podremos empezar a hacer un cambio en nuestras vidas arrepintiéndonos de nuestros pecados, de las veces en que hemos ofendido a los demás. Podremos hacer también el firme propósito de imitar más fielmente a Cristo en nuestra vida diaria.

Sin ir más lejos, podemos hacer hoy nuestras las enseñanzas de Cristo la semana pasada. Aceptemos el reto que significa el alimentar al hambriento, el vestir al desnudo, el recibir al extraño, el confortar al enfermo, el visitar al prisionero. Aportemos nuestros talentos y recursos para cualquier actividad que promueva acciones de justicia social en favor de los necesitados. Convirtámonos en seres compasivos y misericordiosos, procuremos siempre lo que es justo y recto.

Velen y estén preparados porque no saben el momento.

Cầu cho giới trẻ vị thành niên

Chúng ta hãy cầu nguyện cho những trẻ em đang bị đau khổ, đặc biệt là những trẻ em vô gia cư, mồ côi và nạn nhân của chiến tranh; xin cho các em can đảm, biết chuyên chăm học hành và cho các em được cảm nghiệm tình yêu gia đình.

HÃY TỈNH THỨC, VÌ CÁC CON KHÔNG BIẾT KHI NÀO THỜI ẤY ĐẾN

Hôm nay Giáo Hội Công Giáo bắt đầu năm phụng vụ mới với Mùa Vọng. Đây là mùa để chúng ta chuẩn bị tâm hồn đón Chúa Giêsu ngự đến một cách toàn vẹn: hôm qua, hôm nay, và mãi mãi. Với hôm qua, chúng ta tưởng nhớ ngày Chúa giáng sinh khiêm hạ trong hang đá đầy khó khăn tại Bêlem cách đây hơn 20 thế kỷ; với hôm nay, chúng ta chuẩn bị đón tiếp Ngài trong cuộc sống hiên tại mỗi ngày của chúng ta. Đồng thời, chúng ta cũng chuẩn bị tâm hồn để tiếp rước Ngài mãi mãi khi ta suy tưởng về việc Chúa ngự đến lần thứ hai trong ngày tận thế. Thông điệp Mùa Vọng là hãy luôn tỉnh thức, không phải vì sợ hãi, nhưng là vì chúng ta đặt hy vọng vào đời sống vĩnh cửu. Dựa vào lời hứa của Chúa Giêsu, các tín hữu hy vọng điều mình sẽ chiếm hữu, nhưng không cho phép chúng ta sao lãng những trách nhiệm trần thế của mình.

Điều mà chúng ta thực sự cần là chuẩn bị nuôi dưỡng linh hồn và thần trí c ủ a chúng ta. Đây là lời mời gọi thiết thực phát xuất từ Tin Mừng hôm nay; lờil mời gọi canh tân tận đáy lòng, một đổi mới cho những ưu tiên làm cho chúng ta xứng ̣đáng gặp gỡ Chúa Giêsu Kitô cách riêng tư và trong sâu thẳm của cõi lòng ta với Ngài. Một cuộc gặp gỡ như Thánh vịnh đã công bố hôm nay, một gặp gỡ mà Chúa sẽ: “Cho chúng ta đời sống mới!” Lời mời gọi hôm nay là hãy suy tư: làm sao chúng ta có thể thay đổi thực sự đời sống của m ì nh? Chúng ta có thực sự muốn bắt đầu thi hành tất cả những thay đổi cần thiết trong tận đáy lòng không? Chúng ta có thể bắt đầu việc hoán cải bằng cách thống hối mọi tội lỗi và những điều sai trái, hối lỗi về tất cả những lần chúng ta đã xúc phạm đến những người thân cận của chúng ta. Chúng ta cũng có thể cam kết trở nên giống Chúa Kitô hơn trong đời sống mỗi ngày của mình.

Hôm nay chúng ta có thể hoán cải mà Chúa Giêsu đã dạy chúng ta tuần trước. Hãy thách đố bản thân: cho kể đói ăn, giúp áo mặc cho kẻ rách rưới, tiếp rước khách lạ, an ủi người đau yếu, thăm viếng kẻ tù rạc. Hãy quyết định đóng góp tài năng và tiền của để cổ võ cho việc thực thi công bằng xã hội, nhằm mưu ích cho những anh chị em bé mọn của chúng ta. Hãy trở nên những Kitô hữu có lòng từ bi và thương xót, luôn luôn tìm kiếm thực thi những điều chính trực.
