Saint Vincent de Paul: Recently, we helped twelve families stay in their homes, and helped seven families with PG&E bills, so they had heat this winter. We also helped with DMV fees, storage fees, and work permits. On the weekend of April 29-30, the second collection will be for community outreach Saint Vincent de paul. We hope that you will be very generous in your giving, so that we may continue to help those in need.

Even all the hairs of your head are counted.
Today’s Gospel’s passage speaks loudly: “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.” Also, in it Jesus added: “Fear no one. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, no secret that will not be known.” In other words, by the time when all truth will be manifested in this world, it will be the Lord the one in charge of showing us everything that has remained hidden. It will be then that all hidden places used by the prince of darkness will disappear. It will be then when everything will become crystal clear and understandable, good and evil without distinction.
Jesus did not come to teach us secret doctrines or devotions; His teachings must be now proclaimed through all nations. He himself commanded us to celebrate the Eucharist in memory of Him; the sacrament where He reveals Himself before the Christian assembly. It is the same Jesus that today instructs his disciples: “What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you heard whispered proclaim from the house tops.”
Bottom line, Jesus’ teaching today is represented by His invitation to come out from our comfort zones, and to take our faith into the public arena. The primitive Church quickly interpreted this passage as the sustenance and support needed to understand the insurmountable amount of people who had been open to martyrdom through centuries of Church history. But also, all those who have lived risking their own lives by witnessing their faith before the oppressors. Modern days, we are witnessing how these teachings push people to peacefully protest in the public arena against injustice. Bottom line: preferring to lose their bodies while saving their souls, instead of saving their bodies and losing eternal life.

Oremos para que la comunidad internacional se comprometa concretamente en la abolición de la tortura, garantizando el apoyo a las víctimas y sus familias.
El Evangelio de hoy grita a los cuatros vientos: “No teman a los que matan el cuerpo, pero no pueden matar el alma.”
Y además Jesús agrega: “No temas a los hombres, no hay nada oculto que no llegue a descubrirse; no hay nada secreto que no llegue a saberse.” En otras palabras, cuando la verdad de todas las cosas se haga manifiesta en este mundo el Señor mismo se encargará de hacer ver todo aquello que ha permanecido oculto. Desaparecerán entonces los escondites del mal que habita en las tinieblas de este mundo, será entonces que todo será claro y entendible, lo bueno y lo malo sin distinción.
Jesús no vino para enseñarnos doctrinas secretas o devociones particulares, sus enseñanzas deberán ahora ser proclamadas a todo el mundo. Él mismo nos mandó celebrar la Eucaristía en conmemoración suya; el sacramento donde se revela en medio de la asamblea cristiana. Es Él mismo quien hoy instruye a sus discípulos: “Lo que les digo al oído, pregónenlo desde las azoteas.”
Es esta la esencia de la enseñanza del día de hoy, el atreverse a dar el brinco de la esfera privada de nuestra fe al orden público. La Iglesia primitiva encontró rápidamente en este pasaje del Evangelio el sustento teológico necesario para fortalecer y entender las incontables personas que han sido martirizadas a través de la historia de la Iglesia. Todos aquellos que han estado dispuestos a arriesgar sus mismas vidas por darle al mundo un testimonio de fe. En estos nuestros tiempos, nosotros mismos hemos sido testigos de cómo mucha gente de bien ha decidido protestar pacíficamente contra la injusticia. En resumen: mejor será perder el cuerpo y salvar el alma, que salvar el cuerpo y perder la vida eterna.

Chúng ta hãy cầu nguyện cho cộng đồng quốc tế biết cam kết một cách cụ thể để bảo đảm loại bỏ hình thức tra tấn, cũng như cam đoan hỗ trợ các nạn nhân và gia đình của họ.ới.

Ngay cả tóc trên đầu các con đều được đếm
Đoạn Tin Mừng hôm nay nói rất mạnh mẽ: “Đừng sợ những ai chỉ giết được thân xác nhưng không thể giết được linh hồn”. Và Chúa Giêsu nói thêm: “Đừng sợ loài người, không có gì bí ẩn mà không bị khám phá, không bí mật nào mà sẽ không được biết tới”. Nói cách khác, đến lúc mọi sự thật được tỏ lộ trên thế giới này của chúng ta, thì Thiên Chúa là Đấng sẽ cho chúng ta thấy mọi sự vẫn còn được ẩn dấu. Rồi những nơi ẩn náu của cái ác sống trong bóng tối của thế giới này sẽ biến mất, đó là lúc mọi thứ sẽ rõ ràng và dễ hiểu, tốt và xấu không có sự phân biệt.
Chúa Giêsu không đến để dạy chúng ta những tín lý bí mật hoặc l òng sùng kính; giáo huấn của Ngài bây giờ phải được công bố cho toàn thế giới. Chính Ngài truyền cho chúng ta cử hành Bí
Tích Thánh Thể để nhớ tới Ngài; bí tích nơi Ngài tỏ hiện Chính Mình trước cộng đồng Kitô Hữu.
Đó cũng là Đức Giê-su mà hôm nay dạy các môn đệ Ngài: “Điều Thầy nói với các con trong bóng tối, hãy nói nơi ánh sáng; và điều các con nghe rỉ tai, hãy rao giảng trên mái nhà.”
Điểm then chốt hôm nay, Chúa Giêsu mời gọi chúng ta bước ra khỏi cuộc sống nhàn hạ của chúng ta và mang niềm tin vào nơi công cộng. Giáo hội sơ khai đã nhanh chóng tìm thấy trong đoạn Tin Mừng này sự hỗ trợ thần học cần thiết để củng cố và hiểu biết về vô số người đã chịu tử đạo trong suốt lịch sử của Giáo hội. Tất cả những người sẵn sàng mạo hiểm mạng sống của mình
để làm chứng cho thế giới về đức tin. Trong thời đại của chúng ta, chính chúng ta đã chứng kiến biết bao nhiêu người tốt đã quyết định phản đối một cách ôn hòa chống lại sự bất công. Tóm lại: thà mất thân xác mà được linh hồn, còn hơn cứu được thân xác mà mất sự sống đời đời.
