Thirtieth Sunday In Ordinary Time

Oh God, be merciful to me a sinner.

The Book of Sirach speaks today about a “God of justice, who knows no favorites. Though not unduly partial toward the weak, he hears the cry of the oppressed.”

In today’s Gospel passage, the evangelist is restless to insist in explaining that God’s expectations are quite different from ours. He also underlines, once and again, that external appearances, and social positions matter not before God. Through his almost contradicting comparisons, he invites us believers to not deposit our trust in our suppositions, but to be fully open to the promptings of the divine,even before irrational situations.

In today’s Gospel passage, the Pharisee pretends to separate himself from the others. He perceives himself as religious and righteous, way superior to others. He also has a cynical perception of his neighbor. For him, everybody is unfaithful, a thief, a liar, and morally wrong oriented, while he enjoys being an example of a virtuous person in the midst of an ocean of inequality, crime, and corruption. By contrast, the tax collector speaks short words, but with a brutally honest heart; he goes straight to the point. He defineshimself as an endless sinner who has come to the temple looking for divine mercy.

Today, we are invited to understand that humility is able to elevate our souls close to sanctity, but selfishness and pride are able to lead us into permanent sin. As we approach the Altar of the perfect sacrifice, the symbol of the unrepeatable humblest action, let us ask our merciful Father for the wisdom needed to not deposit our faith and hopes in our own merits. Today, let us praise the Lord and exclaim in supplication from the deepness of our souls: “O God, be merciful to me a sinner!”

Estas son las intenciones de oración del Papa Francisco

Intención Universal- Octubre

Recemos para que la Iglesia, fiel al Evangelio y valiente en su anuncio, viva cada vez más la sinodalidad y sea un lugar de solidaridad, fraternidad y acogida.

El libro del Eclesiástico nos dice que el Señor es un juez que no se deja impresionar por las apariencias, que no desprecia a nadie por ser pobre, y que escucha las suplicas del oprimido. El evangelista hoy, insiste hasta el cansancio en explicar que las expectativas de Dios son bien diferentes a las nuestras. San Lucas remarca, una y otra vez, que las apariencias externas y las clases sociales no son importantes delante de Dios. Con sus contradicciones, que casi producen escándalo, el evangelista invita al creyente a no confiar en sus suposiciones, sino a estar abiertos a las acciones divinas, aun en las condiciones más absurdas.

En el pasaje de hoy, el fariseo pretendesepararse a sí mismo de los demás. Él se percibe a sí mismo, moral y religiosamente, superior a todos. El fariseo tiene una percepción cínica de sus contemporáneos. Para el, todos son ladrones, adúlteros, mentirosos, tramposos, etc., mientras que él es un ejemplo brillante de todas las virtudes en medio de un océano de desigualdad, corrupción y crimen. Por otro lado, la oración del publicano es corta, brutalmente honesta,y directa al punto. Él es un pecador sin remedio que ha venido al templo en busca de la misericordia divina.

Hoy somos invitados a entender que la humildad nos eleva a las alturas de la santidad, pero el orgullo y la soberbia son capaces de hundirnos en el pecado permanente. Al acercarnos hoy al altar del sacrificio, símbolo de la expresión de humildad jamás repetida, pidamos al Señor misericordioso que nos de sabiduría para dejar de confiar en nuestros propios méritos. Exclamemos hoy fuerte, y golpeándonos el pecho: “Dios mío, apiádate de mí, que soy un pecador.”

Cầu nguyện theo ý Đức Thánh Cha Francico: THÁNG 10 Cầu cho Giáo hội biết rộng mở cho tất cả mọi người Chúng ta cầu nguyện cho Giáo hội; luôn trung thành và can đảm rao giảng Tin Mừng, xin cho Giáo Hội luôn là một cộng đoàn yêu thương huynh đệ và mãi thăng tiến trong tình yêu hiệp thông.

Xin cám ơn qúy ông bà và anh chị em vẫn tiếp tục đóng góp ủng hộ Giáo Xứ trong thời điểm khó khăn nầy.

Theo yêu cầu của bộ y tế và Giáo Phận, chúng ta phải mua rất nhiều vật phẩm giúp bảo vệ sức khỏe và sự an toàn của tất cả những người đến để tham dự thánh lễ hoặc đến văn phòng Giáo Xứ .

Sách Huấn ca hôm nay dạy rằng “Thiên Chúa công bình, Người không thiên vị ai. Mặc dù không qúa nghiêng về phía những người cô thế, Ngài nghe tiếng khóc của những kẻ bị áp bức. “Thông điệp Tin Mừng hôm nay, thánh sử không ngừng xác quyết rằng những gì Thiên Chúa mong đợi thật khác xa hơn mong đợi của chúng ta.

Ngài cũng đã nhấn mạnh một lần nữa rằng diện mạo và địa vị trong xã hội không quan trọng trước mặt Thiên Chúa. Mặc dù gần như tương phản trong sự so sánh, thánh sử mời gọi chúng ta đừng quá tin tưởng vào những giả định của chúng ta, nhưng hãy mở rộng lòng mình với sự hướng dẫn của Đấng thiêng liêng, ngay cả khi phải đối diện với hoàn cảnh cực kỳ bất trắc.

Trong bài phúc âm hôm nay người Phari siêu coi mình đạo đức và công chính hơn nhữngngười khác. Ông rất cao ngạo, xem mình cao trọng hơn mọi người chung quanh. Đối với ông, mọi người khác đều là những kẻ không tin, trộm đạo, gian dối, hoặc luân lý bất thường, trong khi ông ấy hãnh diện mình là người mẫu mực đức hạnh giữa thế giới của một xã hội bất công, trộm cướp và tham nhũng. Tương phản lại thái độ trên, người thu thuế chỉ dám thốt lên những lời ngắn gọn nhưng chân thực tự đáy lòng mình, ông đi thẳngđến trọng tâm của sự việc. Ông tự nhận mình là tội nhân, đến để cầu xin được tha thứ. Hôm nay chúng ta được mời gọi để xác tín rằng lòng khiêm nhường là sức mạnh nâng linh hồn chúng ta đến gần nơi cực thánh. Trái lại ích kỷ và tự kiêu dẫn đưa chúng ta đến tội lỗi trầm luân. Ước chi mỗi khi chúng ta tiến đến bàn thờ của sự thánh thiện hoàn hảo, là gương mẫu của sự khiêm nhường tuyệt đối, hãy khẩn xin người cha giàu lòng thương xót ban cho chúng ta ơn khôn ngoan cần thiết để đừng bao giờ đặt ti n tưởng và hy vọng vào công đức của chúng ta. Hãy chúc tụng Chúa và cầu khẩn tự đáy lòng rằng: “Lạy Chúa, xin hãy thương xót con, vị con là kẻ tội lỗi!”
