Lord, give me this water!
In the Gospel we proclaimed today, water is unconditionally linked to the encounter with Jesus. During Jesus’ time, a man and woman would not be seen speaking with each other in public unless they were husband and wife. Dialogue between Samaritans and Jews was also prohibited. The Samaritan woman arrives to draw water from Jacob’s well. She carries a bucket filled with anxieties, distress, and rejection. She has had five husbands and she is not married to the man she is living with. Can you imagine all of the anguish that this woman was carrying? After hearing Jesus offer water to her so that she would never be thirsty again, water that is capable of giving eternal life, the Samaritan begs him, “Lord, give me this water.” The contents of the bucket became transformed in the encounter with Jesus. Instead of desperation and disconsolation, there is now a heart filled with hope for a new life. Instead of anxiety and depression, there is now a light that will lead to the springs of eternal life. Today, as we approach the altar of the sacrifice, let us ask the Lord to allow us to see what we each have in our own buckets. Let us appeal to Him to allow us to empty ourselves of everything that is not His. Let us ask with renewed faith that our buckets may overflow with the water that will forever quench our thirst, water that is capable of giving us eternal life.

Por las víctimas de abusos
Oremos por los que sufren a causa del mal recibido por parte de los miembros de la comunidad eclesial: para que encuentren en la misma Iglesia una respuesta concreta a su dolor y sufrimiento.
En el evangelio de hoy, el agua está incondicionalmente ligada al encuentro con Jesucristo. En los tiempos de Jesús, un hombre y una mujer no podían hablar en público, solamente que fueran esposos. El diálogo entre samaritanos y judíos estaba también prohibido. La mujer samaritana viene al pozo de Jacob a sacar agua. Trae un cántaro lleno de angustias y congojas, de rechazos y marginación; ha tenido cinco maridos, y con el que vive actualmente no es su marido. Imaginemos por un momento todo lo que esta mujer lleva cargando consigo. Después de escuchar como Jesús le ofrece agua para nunca más volver a tener sed, agua capaz de darle vida eterna, la samaritana suplica: Señor dame de esa agua. El contenido del cántaro ha sido transformado por el encuentro con Jesús, en vez de desesperanza y desconsuelo hay ahora en su corazón la esperanza de una nueva vida. En lugar de angustia y depresión, hay ahora una luz que conduce a la fuente del agua de vida eterna. El día de hoy, al acudir al altar, pidamos al Señor que nos permita ver qué es lo que tenemos hoy en nuestro cántaro. Supliquémosle que nos permita vaciarlo hoy de todo lo que no le pertenece. Pidamos con una fe renovada que nuestro cántaro sea llenado hasta los bordes con el agua que nunca más da sed, con el agua que brota de su costado, la única capaz de darnos vida eterna.
Señor, ¡Dame de esa agua! Bendiciones,

Hôm nay, khi chúng ta tiến lên bàn thờ, chúng ta hãy xin Chúa cho chúng ta thấy những gì chúng ta có trong cái vò của mình. Chúng ta hãy cầu xin Ngài cho phép chúng ta trút bỏ tất cả mọi thứ không thuộc về Ngài. Chún g ta hãy tự hỏi, với một niềm tin mới cái vò của chúng ta được đổ đầy đến miệng bằng thứ nước không bao giờ làm chúng ta khát, thứ nước duy nhất có thể mang lại cho chúng ta sự sống vĩnh cửu.
