Father give me the share of your estate that should come to me
Today’s Gospel speaks loudly about forgiveness and mercy, but also about hate, revenge, and rejection. Can we recall another scripture passage more loved, or better known than the Prodigal Son? The parable is intensely personal, any person could see him/herself mirrored in one, the other, or any of the main characters. What is more, it is highly probable that any one of us, in our own souls, have a little bit of each one of them. In our days, Jesus continues putting our human concepts upside down. The Lord is always inviting us to perceive our human relations from a way different perspective. Every human being is the prodigal son, because we all are sinners. Sin always tempts us with an easy life, inviting us to live with licentiousness, a life full of pleasures. If we decide to follow this way, at the end of the road, we will surely experience rejection, dissatisfaction and misery. If we decide to walk this path, we will surely be destroying our own human dignity. Today, let us approach the Lord of the perfect reconciliation, let us ask Him for what is needed to always answer with the compassion, love and mercy that the Gospel asks of us today. Let us ask for strength enough to always offer reconciliation amongst this unjust world. Let us ask our merciful Father for enough faith and strength to transform hate in love, conflict in peace, and death in hope for eternal life.

Santo Evangelio Las lecturas de hoy hablan de misericordia y de perdón, pero también de odio, venganza, y rechazo. ¿Podríamos acaso imaginar algún pasaje bíblico más querido y conocido que el pasaje del hijo pródigo?
La parábola es intensamente personal, de tal forma que cualquier persona puede verse reflejado en uno, o en todos los personajes involucrados. Lo que, es más, es muy probable que haya un poco de cada uno de ellos en todos nosotros. Hoy en día, nuevamente Jesús pone de cabeza nuestras expectativas. El Señor nos invita así a ver nuestras relaciones desde una perspectiva muy diferente. Cada ser humano somos el hijo pródigo, porque todos somos pecadores. El pecado nos tienta siempre con una vida fácil, disoluta, y llena de placeres. Si decidimos seguirla, experimentaremos solo insatisfacción, rechazo, y miseria. Al aceptar, habremos destruido parte de nuestra dignidad Acerquémonoshumana.
