Saint Vincent de Paul: Recently, we helped twelve families stay in their homes, and helped seven families with PG&E bills, so they had heat this winter. We also helped with DMV fees, storage fees, and work permits. On the weekend of April 29-30, the second collection will be for community outreach Saint Vincent de paul. We hope that you will be very generous in your giving, so that we may continue to help those in need.

Take up your own cross and follow me.
From the beginning, Jesus shows Himself before the Judaic officials without the right papers or credentials, not the ones that they were expecting from the Messiah. He is the Son of God; He was born among us in simplicity and powerlessness. With authority, today He adds: “Whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.” In today’s gospel, Jesus presents before His disciples another form of being the Messiah. He will be a Messiah that will suffer, as the one described by the prophet: “The one who would open to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, a fountain to purify from sin and uncleanness.”
Jesus introduced undesired elements in His description of the Messiah. Jesus spoke terms of suffering, cross, and salvation gained through service and selfdenial for the benefit of our neighbors. From now on, to become a Christian disciple will require certain conditions; to carry our own cross, is now a condition to become a disciple of Christ.
The Christ described in today’s gospel is an uncomfortable one for us to accept, because we do not like crosses, and we are scared of suffering. But we cannot be indifferent before Him as He challenges our daily lives. In other words, to carry our own cross means to accept the life path that the Lord has prepared for us from all eternity; it does not matter if it does not fit with our own desires. To carry our own cross means to humbly face our daily life with love, and always offer the best of ourselves for the benefit of our neighbor.

Por una vida eucarística.
Oremos para que los católicos pongan en el centro de su vida la celebración de la Eucaristía, que transforma profundamente las relaciones humanas y abre al encuentro con Dios y con los hermanos.
Desde el principio, Jesús se presentó delante de las autoridades judías con las credenciales incorrectas, al menos no con las credenciales que esperaban ver en el Mesías; poniendo al mundo de entonces casi casi de cabeza. Jesús es el Hijo de Dios que había venido a nosotros en humildad, despojado de todo poder. Y con autoridad añade hoy: “El que no toma su cruz y me sigue, no es digno de mí.” Con esta afirmación, Jesús mostraba otro modo de ser Mesías. El sería un Mesías que sufriría, como afirma el profeta “el que purificara la casa de David, y a los habitantes de Jerusalén, de sus pecados e inmundicias.”
Además, Jesús incluye elementos desagradables en su descripción del Mesías. Él hablaba acerca de sufrimiento, de cruz, y salvación que viene solo a través de servir y negarse a sí mismo en beneficio de los demás. El pasaje deja bien claro que para hacerse discípulo de Cristo algunas condiciones aplican. Tomar nuestra y seguirlo es el requisito indispensable para el discípulo de Cristo.
El Cristo descrito hoy por el evangelio es difícil de aceptar, porque no nos gustan las cruces, y además le tenemos miedo al sufrimiento. Cargar nuestra cruz significa soportar todos los malos entendidos, todos los prejuicios, la violencia y la humillación, todo el rechazo; y a veces hasta el desprecio de una sociedad indiferente a las enseñanzas del reino. En otras palabras, cargar nuestra propia cruz significa aceptar con responsabilidad el plan de vida que el Señor tiene para nosotros, no importa que no esté en línea con nuestros deseos. Cargar nuestra cruz significa enfrentar nuestra vida diaria con amor y humildad, ofreciendo siempre lo mejor de nosotros mismos en beneficio de los demás.

Cầu cho việc sống mầu nhiệm Thánh Thể
Chúng ta hãy cầu nguyện để người Công giáo biết đặt việc cử hành Thánh Thể vào trung tâm đời sống của mình, nhờ đó biến đổi các tương quan nhân loại một cách thẳm sâu, và mở ra để gặp gỡ Thiên Chúa cùng anh chị em mình.

Hãy vác thập giá mình mà theo Ta.
Từ buổi đầu, Chúa Giêsu đã tỏ mình trước các quan chức Do Thái không cần giấy tờ hay những chứng chỉ, ít nhất là những giấy tờ mà họ mong đợi từ Đấng Thiên Sai. Ngài là Con Thiên Chúa; Ngài được sinh ra giữa chúng ta trong sự khiêm hạ và bị tước bỏ mọi quyền lực. Với quyền hành, hôm nay Ngài thêm rằng: “Bất cứ ai không vác thập giá mình và t heo Ta thì không đáng là môn đệ Ta”. Với lời khẳng định này, trong bài Phúc m hôm nay, Chúa Giê-su cho thấy một cách khác về Đấng Mê-si-a. Ngài sẽ là Đấng Mê-si-a sẽ chịu đau khổ, như nhà tiên tri khẳng định, “Đấng sẽ thanh tẩy nhà Đa-vít và cư dân Giê-ru-sa-lem khỏi tội lỗi và sự ô uế của họ.”
Chúa Giêsu đã nói về những yếu tố khó khăn khi diễn tả khi mô t ả về Đấng Mêsia. Ngài nói về đau khổ, thập giá và ơn cứu độ chỉ đến qua việc phục vụ và từ bỏ chính mình vì lợi ích của người khác. Đoạn Phúc m nói: để trở thành môn đệ của Chúa Kitô sẽ phải thực hành những điều kiện; vác thập giá chính mình để theo Chúa Kitô.
Phúc m diễn tả Chúa Kitô thất khó chấp nhận, bởi vì chúng ta không thích thập giá, và chúng ta sợ đau khổ. Vác thập giá của chúng ta có nghĩa là chịu đựng mọi hiểu lầm, mọi thành kiến, bạo lực và sỉ nhục, mọi sự từ chối; và đôi khi là cả sự khinh bỉ của một xã hội thờ ơ với giáo huấn của Chúa. Nói cách khác, vác thập giá của chính mình có nghĩa là chấp nhận một cách có trách nhiệm về cuộc sống mà Chúa dành cho chúng ta, cho dù kế hoạch đó không phù hợp với ước muốn của chúng ta. Vác thập giá của chúng ta có nghĩa là đối mặt với cuộc sống hàng ngày của chúng ta với tình yêu và sự khiêm tốn, luôn cống hiến những gì tốt nhất của bản thân vì lợi ích của người khác.
