Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
On Palm Sunday, Jesus was received with exultations, “Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.” A few days later, the crowd was yelling loudly before Pilate, “We do not have another king than Cesar! Crucify Him!” At Jerusalem, Jesus was received as King and Messiah, only to be expelled from the Holy City a few days later, to be martyred as an impostor and a criminal.
But Jesus was not a victim of the circumstances, neither somebody who was at the wrong place at the wrong moment. Jesus showed up for His passion in a purposeful manner. He was well conscious about what was about to happen. As the priest reminds us in the Eucharistic prayer: “At the time He was betrayed and entered willingly into His passion…” “His hour,” the decisive moment according to the scriptures, the moment of divine intervention, had already arrived.
On that day, Jesus faced an inhumane trial, full of brutality, one lacking any slightest reason, or compassion. Pilate washed his hands in a gesture that, through the centuries, had become a symbol of human temptation to refuse responsibility on occasions when we face difficult decisions, or when we decide to stay indifferent before injustice.
When Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a colt, He was making a statement. Through His actions, Jesus was showing the world that He was a Messiah for all those who were oppressed, for the meek and the humble, for the poor and the needy, for the ill and the crippled. Through His actions, He was liberating all those who were suffering. Today, let us go to the world, let us cry out to the multitude telling them that Jesus is, and will always be the one who will provide for every human being the joy, and the salvation that we all need. It does not matter if He is riding a colt, or hanging from a cross at the end of the main hall!

Por una cultura de la no violencia
Oremos por una mayor difusión de una cultura de la no violencia, que pasa por un uso cada vez menor de las armas, tanto por parte de los Estados como de los ciudadanos.
En el Domingo de Ramos, Jesús sería recibido con exclamaciones de júbilo, “Hosanna al Hijo de David, bendito el que viene como Rey de Israel.” La palabra “Hosanna” significa una voz que suplica, y que quiere expresar: sálvanos Señor! Pero tan solo unos días después, la turba enardecida gritaría delante de Pilatos, “¡no tenemos más rey que el Cesar!” ¡Crucifícalo! ¡Crucifícalo! Jesús fue recibido en Jerusalén como Mesías y Rey, solo para unos días después ser martirizado fuera de Jerusalén como cualquier criminal e impostor.
Jesús no fue víctima de las circunstancias, mucho menos de los judíos. Tampoco fue alguien que tuvo la mala suerte de estar en el lugar equivocado, en el momento equivocado. Jesús se presentó a su pasión con pleno conocimiento y aceptación de lo que estaba a punto de suceder. Como el sacerdote lo recuerda durante la eucaristía: “Cuando iba a ser entregado a su pasión voluntariamente aceptada…” “Su hora,” el momento decisivo según las escrituras, el momento del “Kiries,” de la intervención divina había llegado.
Jesús enfrenta aquel día un juicio inhumano, lleno de brutalidad, y carente de toda razón o compasión. Pilatos se lava las manos, en un gesto que ha llegado a ser, a través de los siglos, símbolo de la tentación humana a rehuir la responsabilidad cuando enfrentamos decisiones difíciles, o cuando permanecemos indiferentes delante de las injusticias.
Cuando Jesús entró en Jerusalén montado en un burrito estaba haciendo un pronunciamiento. A través de sus acciones, Jesús mostraba que era un Mesías para el humilde y el desposeído, para el pobre y el oprimido, para el enfermo y el paralitico. Con sus acciones, Jesús afirmaba que había venido a liberar al marginado, y a liberar a los de corazón quebrantado.
Aceptemos la invitación del día de hoy. Pongámonos a los pies del Señor. No ofrezcamos solo nuestros mantos, o nuestras palmas, ofrezcamos nuestro propio ser al paso del redentor. Vayamos al mundo, gritemos a los cuatro vientos que Jesús es, y será siempre la salvación de todos nosotros, montado en un burrito, o colgado de una cruz.
¡Bendito el rey que viene en el nombre del Señor!

Cầu cho nền văn hóa hòa bình và bất bạo lực
Chúng ta hãy cầu nguyện cho hòa bình và bất bạo lực được lan tỏa khắp nơi, nhờ các quốc gia và người dân biết giảm bớt sử dụng vũ khí.
At Christ the King parish we are a Catholic multicultural community, longing to become “One in Christ.”
Hoan hô đấng nhân danh Chúa ngự đến.
Vào Chúa nhật Lễ Lá, Chúa Giêsu đã được đón rước với những lời tung hô, “Hoan hô Con vua Đa-vít, chúc tụng đấng nhân danh Chúa mà đến.” Chỉ vài ngày sau đó, cũng chính đám đông này đã la hét ầm ĩ trước Philatô, chúng tôi không có vị vua nào khác ngoài Cesar! Đóng đinh nó đi!” Tại Jerusalem, Chúa Giêsu đã được tôn vinh làm Vua là Đấng cứu thế, vài ngày sau đó, trong thành thánh ấy Ngài bị khước từ, bị xem thường hơn kẻ gian ác, bị xem như tội phạm và bị giết đi. Nhưng Chúa Giêsu không phải là nạn nhân của cảnh chống đối, không phải Ngài đến không đúng nơi, không đúng lúc. Chúa Giêsu đã có chủ đích đến để chịu cuộc tử nạn của mình. Ngài đã biết rõ những gì sắp xảy ra. Như linh mục nhắc nhở chúng ta trong kinh nguyện Thánh Thể: Lúc bị phản bội Ngài sẵn sàng chịu tử nạn ... “Giờ của Ngài”, theo thánh kinh, giờ chịu nạn của Ngài đã đến.
Vào ngày đó, Chúa Giêsu phải đối diện với phiên tòa bạo tàn, hết sức bất công, và phi lý.
Philatô đã rửa tay với một cử chỉ mà qua nhiều thế kỷ cho đến nay, đó là một hành động hèn nhát để trốn tránh trách nhiệm trong những khi phải đối mặt với những quyết định khó khăn, hoặc làm ngơ trước sự bất công.
Khi Chúa Giêsu cưỡi trên lưng lừa con vào thành Jerusalem, qua hành động đó Ngài đã tuyên bố cho thế giới thấy rằng Ngài thật là Đấng Thiên Sai, cho tất cả những người bị áp bức, cho người hiền lành và khiêm nhường, cho người nghèo khổ và người túng thiếu, cho người đau yếu và người bệnh tật. Qua hành động của Ngài, Ngài đã giải thoát tất cả những ai đang đau khổ. Hôm nay, chúng ta hãy đi vào lòng thế giới, hãy tuyên bố cho mọi người rằng Chúa Giêsu luôn là người mang lại cho nhân loại niềm vui, và là sự cứu rỗi mà tất cả chúng ta cần đến. Cho dù lúc Người cưỡi trên lưng lừa con, hoặc khi bị treo trên thập tự giá ở đồi Canvê!
