Green Energy (Cymru) Ltd – Venue 2 Far Infrared Heating System
Venue2 – Former ALDI Store is now a Church
2014
THE CHALLENGE
The former ALDI supermarket near Swansea was in a state of disrepair following a lengthy marketing campaign by commercial estate agents. The building had been vandalised and left in need of major refurbishment.
The building was acquired by a well established local community focused Church and the leadership team gave us the brief of delivering a ‘low carbon building’ that would be suitable for both local and national conferences with a main hall suitable for 650 delegates. Our task was to design and specify a conference hall that could be illuminated, heated and cooled effectively with the minimum amount of energy consumption. The scope of this short project summary is focused on the heating system (and controls) that we specified and installed. OUR APPROACH
The use of the main hall is occasional and sometimes only a section of the hall is required for smaller group meetings. Recognising the nature and pattern of use for a building is a fundamental prerequisite to designing and specifying the most appropriate systems to be installed.
