The Impact of Arts Education
Tilles Center’s mission is to engage and enrich our community through arts performance, education, and advocacy. The Center cultivates both wonder and growth, welcoming learners of all ages a shared exploration of creative potential.
Research demonstrates that arts education can significantly enhance academic, social, and emotional outcomes. For example, data shows that students exposed to arts learning have improved writing skills, show greater compassion, and report feeling more engaged in school and inspired to continue life-long learning.

Tilles Center’s School Partnership Program: Where thousands of students and educators participate in theater, music, and dance workshops; deepening critical thinking, literacy, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
Curtains Up! Weekday Matinee Performances: Making world-class theater, music, and dance affordable and accessible.
Sensory-Friendly & Relaxed Performances: Recognizing diverse needs, Tilles Center invites audiences on the autism spectrum or with sensory or communication challenges to engage in immersive, interactive, and relaxed productions.
Community and Campus Connections: The Center routinely hosts residencies, master classes, and special engagements for students at Long Island University and the community at-large. These events have featured luminaries such as Kristin Chenoweth, Misty Copeland, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and many more.
Music, Moments, & Memories: A series of concerts and classes throughout the year, designed for those with limited mobility, Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia and caregivers.
Family Programming & Workshops: The world’s best theater, music and dance, specifically designed for young audiences. These events are paired with pre-show family workshops where parents, caregivers, and children can explore the arts side by side.
Arts Insider Pre-Performance Engagement: Pre-show events that give an insider’s view on what goes into each performance, setting the context for what audiences will see and hear on stage.
