This report considers the benefits of an investment of $188.4 billion in water infrastructure—the amount the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency indicates would be required to manage stormwater and preserve water quality. It concludes that such an investment would inject a quarter of a trillion dollars into the economy, create nearly 1.3 million direct and indirect jobs and result in 568,000 additional jobs from increased spending. Advocating for green infrastructure alternatives, it concludes that “investments in water and other infrastructure are one of the most efficient methods of job creation in the current economy.”
