EDITOR’S LETTER
This year, our LAX Coastal Chamber celebrated its 72nd birthday and the Chamber business community couldn’t be stronger and more vibrant in its rich history. With well over 700 businesses involved as champions for business growth and development, the voice of business is strong.
But let’s be honest, doing business in Los Angeles and in our region is tougher than ever. Rising costs for goods and services coupled with increases in staffing costs, has made the need for business advocacy more important than ever – especially for our small business community.
As the world converges on Los Angeles in three short years for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, it will be important that we show off to the world the many unique communities that make Los Angeles the special place it is. One of the most powerful ways to do that is by uplifting the vibrant network of small and local businesses that are the heart and soul of our neighborhoods. These small and local businesses are so critical for our region’s economy.
This year’s magazine celebrates and lifts up many of these small and local owned businesses in our region. I urge you all to use this magazine and guide as something you pick up regularly as you look to find a great place to shop, dine, or procure services for both your home and business.
In closing, we want to thank our businesses and the many residents of our region that make the LAX Coastal region what it is today. As always, know that we are here to support and promote business and enhance the vitality of our special community!

Justin Furtado is the founder and director of BTG Basketball, a Los Angelesbased program dedicated to transforming young athletes into leaders both on and off the court. With over six years of coaching experience, Furtado has mentored more than 500 athletes. His leadership contributed to Venice High School’s journey to the LA City Section Division 1 Finals during his first year on staff in 2022-23. Beyond coaching, Furtado hosts the Beyond the Scoreboard Podcast, where he has interviewed over 150 industry leaders, including Alex Sarama, Player Development Coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Don Showalter, USA Basketball Director of Development.
BTG Basketball, short for Beyond the Game, is committed to helping athletes reach their full potential by emphasizing both athletic excellence and personal development. The program focuses on coaching the mental and emotional aspects of sports, preparing young athletes for life beyond the game. This is achieved through four leadership pillars: Commitment, teaching athletes to be their best selves and excellent teammates; Curiosity, inspiring lifelong learning and exploration beyond basketball; Communication, emphasizing the importance of effective expression and active listening; and Connection, fostering meaningful relationships among teammates that endure beyond the game.
Adela Sirbu, owner of Club Pilates Marina del Rey, leads a studio that’s redefining wellness on the Westside—one Reformer class at a time. Rooted in the traditional teachings of Joseph Pilates but modernized for today’s active lifestyles, Club Pilates offers low-impact, full-body workouts that strengthen, stretch, and center. With state-of-the-art equipment and thoughtfully designed classes, the studio caters to all ages and fitness levels, empowering members to improve their flexibility, balance, and overall well-being. It’s not just about physical transformation—it’s about embracing every season of life with strength and grace.
But what truly sets Club Pilates Marina del Rey apart is its deep sense of community. Since opening just eight months ago, Adela has fostered a space where new friendships flourish, accountability thrives, and members go the extra mile—not just for their health, but for each other. From mother-daughter duos bonding in class to members volunteering during the LA fires, the studio has become a hub of connection and compassion. With members from across the region—yes, even the Palisades—calling it home, Club Pilates MDR is more than fitness; it’s a movement. And as Adela passionately notes, investing in wellness doesn‘t stop at the studio doors—employers can boost productivity and morale by supporting their team’s health. A sponsored class or membership might just be the smartest business move you make this year.
“It is never too late to start working out no matter your fitness level. Some movement is better than none. Don’t be intimidated by the Reformer - it will become your best friend in no time!”

NUTRITION BY ELLEN nutritionbyellen.com
With over 25 years in private practice, Ellen Reiss-Goldfarb, RDN-CEDS-C, brings a compassionate, deeply informed approach to nutrition that goes far beyond calorie counts and food charts. As a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Certified Eating Disorders Specialist and Supervisor, Ellen works with clients of all ages, helping them navigate challenges like eating disorders, hormone imbalances, gastrointestinal issues, and more. Rooted in the Health At Every Size (HAES) philosophy, her practice empowers clients to redefine what health looks like—free from the damaging messages of diet culture and unrealistic body expectations, especially prevalent in imageconscious places like Los Angeles.
Unfortunately, we live in a society that places tremendous pressure on appearance, and in cities like LA, body image ideals are often amplified. Diet culture sends confusing, often harmful messages about what health should look like, and many people simply don’t know how to take care of their bodies in a sustainable and balanced way. That’s where Ellen’s extensive experience and advanced credentials come in. As a Registered Dietitian and Certified Eating Disorders Specialist, Ellen is not only qualified to work with individuals in private practice—she’s also able to work in hospitals and accept insurance, making her services more accessible and comprehensive than many others in the wellness field.
It’s important to understand that while anyone can call themselves a ”nutritionist,“ not everyone has the qualifications to be a registered dietitian. Becoming an RD requires rigorous academic coursework, a supervised internship, passing a national registration exam, and a commitment to ongoing continuing education. Ellen has dedicated her career to this path, and is widely recognized as an expert in her field. She combines clinical expertise with real-life empathy—her own journey with disordered eating, as well as her time consulting in psychiatric settings, has fueled her passion for helping others heal their relationship with food and their bodies.
Ellen’s approach is holistic, personalized, and rooted in deep care. Whether incorporating Mindful Eating, Intuitive Eating, or addressing the broader lifestyle picture, she evaluates the whole person—sleep quality, stress levels, exercise habits, and nutritional intake all matter. Her mission is to guide people toward sustainable wellness, empowering them to feel their best, function at their highest, and embrace a life where food becomes a source of nourishment—not stress.
Michelle Kelly, one of the owners of Restore Hyper Wellness in Marina del Rey, is passionate about helping people live healthier, more energized lives. Her mission is simple: to create a one-stop destination for all your wellness needs, where every service is designed to help you feel better and do more of what you love. Whether you’re recovering from a tough workout, managing daily stress, or simply looking to optimize your health, Restore offers modern, science-backed solutions tailored to support your goals.
The studio offers a wide range of services under one roof, including Cryotherapy, Red Light Therapy, Compression, IV Drips, Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, and Facials—each carefully selected to work in harmony and deliver real results. Michelle believes that wellness should be convenient, empowering, and sustainable. And when individuals invest in their physical, mental, and emotional health, everyone benefits—especially in the workplace. A healthy employee is a happy, high-performing employee, and Restore is proud to support both personal wellness and professional success across the community.

WE CHOOSE WELLNESS wechoosewellness.com
Jaleel Gilmore, Wellness Consultant and founder of We Choose Wellness, has a mission rooted in personal transformation and professional passion: to inspire wellness through exposure, bodywork, and education. After working over two decades in the Los Angeles mental health field without ever experiencing bodywork himself, one spontaneous appointment at a local massage school changed everything. That single hour relieved more mental, emotional, and physical tension than he ever thought possible—and ignited a new purpose: to help others discover the same sense of restoration and self-connection.
At We Choose Wellness, no two sessions are alike. Each experience is customized to the unique needs of the client, addressing not just the physical body but also the mental, emotional, and spiritual components of well-being. Jaleel’s approach is intuitive, intentional, and informed by years in community mental health and wellness education. In a diverse, forward-thinking area like LAX Coastal, his work meets a growing need for meaningful, personalized healing. “There’s just something about the ocean breeze,” he says, reflecting on how coastal communities foster innovation in wellness.
But wellness isn’t just personal—it’s a smart investment for businesses. Companies that prioritize employee wellness send a clear message: ”We care about you.“ From easing workplace tension and reducing injury risk to boosting morale and productivity, consistent wellness services lead to healthier, happier teams. Jaleel believes wellness shouldn‘t be an annual perk—it should be woven into company culture.

A Message from Outgoing
Chairwoman of the LAX Coastal Chamber Board of Directors, Maria Canchola
Serving as Board Chair for the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. This past year has been filled with incredible moments of growth, collaboration, and community, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to lead such an inspiring group of people. The friendships that were forged and cultivated throughout this journey will remain invaluable to me.
A special thank you to my executive board and Ravi Singh, our previous chair: thank you for your guidance and for laying a strong foundation that enabled us to build and grow. I want to extend my deepest appreciation to Jane St. John and Maria Camacho for their passion for community, guidance, and leadership, which have been instrumental in shaping our successes.
And to Chad and the chamber staff, who are the real heroes keeping this organization thriving, I am endlessly grateful.
This past year, we boldly expanded our vision beyond the LAX borders, opening new doors for businesses and fostering connections that will
Meet the Incoming Chairwoman of the LAX Coastal Chamber Board of Directors, Stephanie Sampson
Stephanie Sampson is a Senior Business Operations and Development Specialist in the aviation sector for Parsons Corporation, a global technology-focused defense, intelligence, and infrastructure engineering firm. In this role, Stephanie helps amplify Parsons’ dynamic capabilities by fostering relationships with new and existing clients, organizes small business outreach events, and supports communication efforts to elevate company awareness.
drive long-term growth. We reached an incredible milestone, surpassing 700+ members a first in Chamber history. We made tremendous progress in our sports and entertainment initiative, strengthened our leadership pipeline efforts, and set the groundwork for an even more impactful future with the exploration of creating a 501(c) organization. Our member development initiatives will help create growth opportunities for both volunteers and members, ensuring a strong foundation for leadership and development. I was especially excited to host the CEO of LA28, Reynold Hoover, at Hollywood Park Casino for a Power Hour that was both informative and insightful, further solidifying our commitment to the sports and entertainment sector.
When our community faced adversity during the Palisades and Altadena fires, we came together with compassion and resolve, reinforcing the bonds that make us stronger. Through every challenge, we emerged more united, proving that our Chamber is not just an organization but a family.
As I step down as Chair, I do so with immense pride and optimism for what lies ahead.
Thank you for the honor of being part of this journey — the best is yet to come.
With 20 years of experience working in media/public relations and community outreach for both the private and public sector, she spent the first half of her career working in college athletics (Go Bruins!) before venturing into aviation at LAX airport. Stephanie spent more than 7.5 years working at LAX with her final role being the Director of Communications for the ongoing Capital Improvement Program. During her time at LAX, Stephanie worked hard to forge positive relationships with the airport community and businesses, while highlighting the incredible transformation underway at the airport. Her role at LAX also led her to become heavily engaged with the Chamber, participating in Leadership Academy before earning a seat on the Board. Over the past several years, Stephanie has contributed to the Chamber in many ways including as a Board member, Executive Committee member (secretary, treasurer, special events chair, chair elect), and as co-chair for the Chamber’s signature event – the State of LAX – in 2024 and 2023.
Stephanie’s ability to build relationships and understanding of the airport community and its surroundings have helped set the foundation for her tenure as the Chairwoman of the Board.

1,200 LocalProtectors
Celebrated During Protectors’ Appreciation Week
Recognizing the men and women who serve at LA City Fire Stations #5, #51, #63, #67, #80, #95 and LA County Fire Stations #110, #170, #171, #172, #173, LAX Airport Police Department, California Highway Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard, LA County Sheriff’s Department Marina del Rey, LAPD Pacific Division, LA County Lifeguards, and Healthcare professionals from Providence Health, UCLA Health, Airport Marina Counseling Services, Kaiser Permanente, and Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey
Protectors‘ Appreciation Week is a cherished annual tradition at the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce, but this year, it held even greater significance as we honored our local heroes in the wake of the recent SoCal Wildfires. From February 24 to 28, our community came together to celebrate over 1,200 protectors from various agencies in a week-long tribute. The event showcased the dedication of our local heroes who work tirelessly to keep us safe every day.
Throughout the week, Chamber staff, sponsors, and volunteers visited stations and facilities, delivering thoughtfully prepared goodies—including Italian meal baskets, BBQ baskets, and giant snack baskets—along with hearty breakfasts and lunches. Each visit offered a unique opportunity to learn about the daily routines and challenges faced by our protectors, as well as the selfless commitment they demonstrate in their line of duty. Local elected officials also offered their support, with team members from the office of Councilwoman Traci Park of CD11 and Supervisor Holly Mitchell of the 2nd supervisorial district of Los Angeles County joining in to reinforce our community’s appreciation.
As an added bonus this year, the Chamber amplified visibility for these everyday heroes by launching seven digital billboards across Los Angeles. Donated by Hollywood Park Casino and brought to life by photographer Robert Higgins, these billboards featured inspiring images of our very own local protectors from LAPD Pacific Division and LA City Fire Station #5, ensuring that their hard work and dedication were recognized by the entire city.
“Our hope is that Protectors’ Appreciation Week continues to expand beyond the LAX Coastal area,“ remarks LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, Chad Maender. ”We would love for other Chambers and non-profits to implement similar programs in their communities”.
“As we reflect on the week’s events, we invite everyone to join us in celebrating these remarkable individuals. Take a moment to honor your local protectors and share their stories—because our community’s strength is built on the courage and commitment of those who keep us safe.”
Get involved today—celebrate your local heroes and help spread the word!

Meet Your Local Protectors
Officer Karwon Villery
Los Angeles Police Department Senior Lead Officer
Officer Villery serves as the Senior Lead Officer at the LAPD’s Pacific Division, bringing over 18 years of dedicated service to the Department. Prior to joining the LAPD, he was an aircraft mechanic for Northwest Airlines. A native Angeleno where he still resides, he grew up playing “Cops and Robbers” and always felt the desire to become a police officer. During the Palisades fires in January, Officer Villery and his fellow officers helped with evacuations and canvassed the burn areas to prevent looting. It was “All Hands On Deck” as police agencies worked alongside fire departments from neighboring states, including Washington, Montana, and Idaho, to name a few. Responsible for the station’s Community Outreach, Officer Villery is committed to creating positive experiences and building genuine, compassionate connections with the citizens of Los Angeles. He finds great satisfaction in seeing a smile on someone’s face when their issue or concern is resolved. He lives by the Golden Rule and treats others as he wants to be treated. In his free time, Officer Villery and his family go RV’ing and off-roading in Glamis. At home, you’ll find him sitting with his two dogs—a French Bulldog and a Pekingese—and bingewatching I Love Lucy reruns, a heartfelt tradition he once shared with his mom.
Officer Chelsey Preston
Culver City Police Department Detective
For over five years, Officer Chelsey Preston has worked with the Culver City Police Department. She is a Detective in the Robbery & Homicide Division, and one of only six policewomen at the station. With relatives in law enforcement, Officer Preston got her first glimpse into an officer’s daily life during a ride-along with her uncle. She knew at that point, in her early twenties, that she had found her calling. She enjoys the task of working cases from start to finish, putting the pieces of the puzzle together and identifying suspects. These cases can ultimately result in the filing of charges and bringing a suspect to justice through the court system, something that gives her a great sense of satisfaction. She is sympathetic and understanding with victims and has learned through her career that everyone reacts differently, and no two cases are the same. She humorously points out that police work is not like what you see in the movies and on TV. Officers do not wear high heels while on duty and no one ever enters a building to search it alone. It is a team effort with constant communication. Officer Preston and her husband are excitedly expecting their first child in just a few months. They reside in Thousand Oaks with their 11-year-old Husky “Sakura” which means “Cherry Blossom” in Japanese.
Officer Eduardo Quintero, Public Information Officer and Officer Austin Chavez, Community Outreach Officer
California Highway Patrol
Officers Quintero and Chavez met as classmates at the CHP Academy in Sacramento. During their six-month long training, they became best friends. Officer Quintero’s father taught him to follow his dreams from a very early age and he took that advice to heart and joined the CHP. Being able to work with your best friend and making a difference in the community makes their jobs very rewarding. Even with over 80 officers at the Culver City station, it’s like a second family to them. That keeps them motivated to do well in their professional and personal lives. They have learned to never doubt yourself and to know you are a part of something bigger. The California Highway Patrol is highly trained on accident investigations, DUI evaluations, and emergency vehicle operations. A self-described “nerd,” Officer Quintero enjoys Anime, board games and playing Magic the Gathering. He is really looking forward to MagicCon in Las Vegas later this year. Officer Chavez is married and enjoys cooking and all things hockey. You will see them at local community events, providing helpful information about safety, childcare, senior driving, and so much more. (Pictured Left to Right: Officers Chavez and Quintero)
Ocean Lifeguard Specialist Natalie Mohagen
County of Los Angeles Fire Department,
Lifeguard Division
Natalie grew up surfing and spending time at the beach, so it came as no surprise she turned her desire to help people and her love of the ocean into an amazing career as an Ocean Lifeguard Specialist. As part of the LA County Fire Department, Lifeguards safeguard our beaches and coastline from San Pedro to Malibu. Beachgoers may see Lifeguards sitting in the Tower wondering what they do all day. Know that they are actively watching the ocean, people, and the constantly changing water conditions preventing many emergencies before they happen. They are many opportunities as a Lifeguard. Joining the Dive Team, working on Rescue Boats, even working on Catalina Island as a Paramedic to name a few. Loving her job is just part of what makes Natalie happy. She is an avid Billie Eilish fan having attended two of her concerts in just one week! If she had any advice to give to her younger self, it would be to have confidence, do not limit yourself and anything can be accomplished. Thank you to Natalie and all of our Lifeguards for keeping us safe when we think you may not even be looking.
Meet Your Local Protectors
Officer Brandon Mendoza
El Segundo Police Department
El Segundo Police Officer Brandon Mendoza is currently assigned as a School Resource Officer. In that capacity, he acts as a liaison between the Police Department and school administrators overseeing seven schools in three districts. He can be seen on campus building relationships with students and faculty and serves as a resource for both. When this assignment is up, he will return to patrolling the streets. He enjoys working in the small hometown community of El Segundo and with five years as a police officer there, he plans to stay for his entire career. He lives by what he calls the definition of integrity which he learned from a mentor in college. Always do the right thing even when no one Is looking (because someone is always looking). Officer Mendoza is a dedicated police officer but has a fun life when he isn’t wearing a badge. He shares that when meeting people outside of work they would never guess he was a police officer. You may catch him DJ’ing at a special event, rocking out to Funk and Oldies music or at an old vinyl record store adding to his collection. He likes to laugh and has a passion for classic cars. He is in the process of restoring his 1974 Monte Carlo and having it lowered. If you attend the Annual El Segundo Car Show, you are sure to see Officer Mendoza in front of the Police Officers Association (POA) booth on Main Street with other officers and, of course, his prized ’74 Monte Carlo, music blaring. He is engaged to be married and looks forward to a long and rewarding career serving the people of El Segundo.
The LAX Coastal Chamber extends its deepest gratitude to our local protectors—our police officers, firefighters, and first responders—whose dedication keeps our neighborhoods safe and our community strong. Their courage, compassion, and tireless service are the foundation upon which we build a thriving, connected region. Whether responding to emergencies, supporting local events, or simply showing up with a helping hand, these everyday heroes embody the very best of public service. We encourage everyone to get involved with our protectors’ community events, show support, and build lasting connections with those who serve.
From Pelé to SoFi
The World Cup’s Legacy Continues in LA
by Ritchie Brill, VP Client Relations Central Coast Merchant Services
The World Cup is coming to Los Angeles—and the city is buzzing with anticipation. As one of the global host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Los Angeles is set to welcome the world to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, where some of the tournament’s most high-stakes matches will unfold. The atmosphere promises to be electric, with the kind of global energy only the World Cup can deliver. How big is it? To put it in perspective: while the 2025 Super Bowl drew a record-breaking 210 million viewers, the 2022 World Cup captivated more than 5 billion. That’s the scale we’re talking—on par with the Olympics, but all for the love of one game.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will run from June 11 to July 19, with eight exciting matches set to take place right here in Inglewood at SoFi Stadium. Los Angeles last hosted this tournament, which is played every 4 years, in 1994. The final match was played in the Rose Bowl where Brazil set a record by winning for the fourth time. As we prepare to take our place on the international stage once again, it’s also the perfect time to look back at the storied history of the tournament—from Brazil’s iconic dominance to unforgettable underdog triumphs—and gear up for the next thrilling chapter, right here in the City of Angels.
The World Cup began in 1930 in Uruguay, the vision of FIFA’s then President, Jules Rimet, for whom the trophy is named. Remember, this was the time of the Great Depression when the world economy was very weak. There were two more World Cups before it was halted during the WWII era and restarted in 1950 where Brazil hosted the tournament and lost to Uruguay in the final. This is known as the “Maracanazo,” the ultimate footballing tragedy at the Maracanã stadium, which was in silence, stunned by the loss. This reminds me of legendary manager Bill Shankly’s quote “Some people believe football (soccer) is a matter of life and death. I’m very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you that it is much, much more important than that.”
The Golden Era of the World Cup was 1954-1970, when Brazil, and Pelé, won three of the Championships. Pele was soccer’s greatest player of all time. Debuting at age 17 in the 1958 World Cup Pelé was hugely instrumental in Brazil’s victory. This included his goal against Sweden where he performed The Hat (Sombrero) to score a goal. In front of the defender, he flicked the ball over his opponent’s head then caught it on the other side with his foot and kicked it into the goal. 1966 saw England
defeat Germany for their only World Cup win. That was only 20 years after World War II, so it was a very emotional occasion. That is a theme of the World Cup. In Mexico, Pelé won his third winner’s medal, no other player in the history of soccer has achieved this. The 1970 Brazil team is regarded by many as the greatest team to ever play soccer. This also was the first World Cup to be broadcast globally.
Another notable moment is the 1986 World Cup where Maradona of Argentina scored a goal illegally with his hand, a play now known as “The Hand of God”. He then scored one of the greatest goals in soccer history to beat England. Tension was high, as four years earlier the same two countries fought the Falklands war. There are too many incidents to mention them all.
This brings us to the 2026 World Cup. And what exactly do we have to look forward to? A new tournament format, for starters. This will be the first tournament played in multiple countries, three; Canada, Mexico and The United States. There will, for the first time, be 48 teams. The full roster of teams is still unfolding, as nations around the world compete in qualifying matches to secure a spot among the final 48.
As the countdown to 2026 continues, the LAX Coastal area finds itself at the crossroads of global excitement and local pride. With SoFi Stadium just minutes away, our community is uniquely positioned to experience the energy, culture, and commerce that only the World Cup can deliver. From bustling hotels to lively restaurants and businesses ready to welcome the world, this is more than just a series of matches—it’s a oncein-a-generation opportunity to shine on the international stage. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or simply caught up in the moment, there’s never been a more thrilling time to be part of the LAX Coastal community.
If you are unable to attend a game in-person, our eight matches will also be available on TV and streaming services. Join the other billions of soccer fans worldwide to watch this exciting, global, sporting spectacle.

GET GAMES READY LA!
“Citias. Altias. Fortius – Communitier” It means “faster, higher, strongertogether” and it has been the motto of the Olympic Games since 1891. The Games of the 34th Olympiad also known as the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games are just three short years away and very soon the eyes of the world will be on Los Angeles.
Preparations for LA28 are well underway as competition venues are being finalized, outreach programs developed, and thoughtful planning focused on the lasting legacy the Games will leave behind after they conclude in August of 2028.
Los Angeles is the most diverse city in the world with over 200 languages spoken and with that comes the opportunity for LA28 to highlight and lift up the many places and communities that are part of the fabric of our region. As anticipation builds, many are asking not only how to prepare their families, but also how to position their businesses to thrive as our city takes the global stage.
KEY FACTS ABOUT THE 2028 OLYMPIC & PARALYMPIC GAMES
The 2028 Olympic Games will be the THIRD time that Los Angeles has hosted the Games, and the first time the city will host the Paralympics. LA first hosted the Games in 1932, followed by 1984.
Five new sports will be added in 2028 including baseball/softball, men’s and women’s cricket, men’s and women’s flag football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s squash.
Competition venues will be located across Southern California as well as two venue locations in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The LA28 staff will grow from 200 employees to a few thousand team members just before the time of the Games. You can learn more about employment opportunities by visiting, LA28.org!
On August 12, 2024, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass returned from Paris, bringing the official Olympic flag to Los Angeles, marking the city‘s transition as the host for the 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. She was accompanied by Olympic diver Delaney Schnell and skateboarder Tate Carew, and greeted by California Governor Gavin Newsom.
LEADING THE CHARGE FOR THE GAMES
Casey Wasserman, President and Chairperson, LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games
Casey Wasserman serves as President and Chairperson of LA28, overseeing the return of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to the United States for the first time in more than 30 years. The LA28 Games will mark Los Angeles’ third time hosting the Olympics, having done so previously in 1984 and 1932, and the city’s first time hosting the Paralympics. He is also the Chairman and CEO of Wasserman, a global business at the epicenter of sports, music, entertainment and culture. Headquartered in Los Angeles, Wasserman‘s presence spans 28 countries and over 68 cities, serving many of the world‘s leading talent, brands and properties.
Reynold Hoover, CEO, LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games
With over 25 years of service to the United States military, retired three-star Lieutenant General Reynold Hoover was selected in June 2024 to be the Chief Executive Officer for LA28. Hoover served in both the Gulf & Afghanistan Wars and ultimately served as deputy commander of the U.S. Northern Command. “Reynold is one of the few people in the nation who possess the operational and logistics expertise that Olympic and Paralympic games require,” LA28 Chairperson Casey Wasserman said. Over the next few years, Reynold’s team LA28 will grow from some 400 professionals to close to 4,000 as the games take place in July 2028.
GETTING MY BUSINESS READY FOR THE GAMES
LA28 has an operating budget of $7.1 billion dollars, and within that budget there will be economic opportunity for businesses across a wide range of industries. LA28 has identified and shared several spend categories that include games operations, marketing & communications, facilities management, technology, construction & contracting, food & beverages, accommodations, and transportation. So what should a business be doing to prepare?
First and foremost, if you are a small and local business in Los Angeles County, get small business certified with the City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles or the State of California. The LAX Coastal Chamber and other agencies across the region offer complimentary or low-cost programs that help you understand certification and walk you through getting certified.
Once certified, businesses should register on the Regional Alliance Marketplace for Procurement (RAMP LA) – an online procurement platform where Games procurement opportunities will be posted for interested businesses. Visit rampla.org today to get signed up.
Along with procurement opportunities directly with LA28, there will be a plethora of business opportunities that are happening around the region. With the Olympics and Paralympics, come dignitaries and fans from over 200 nations diverging on the City of Angels. They will need areas to gather not only for themselves, but for their fans. Countries are already finding communities to call “home” for the Games. The Czech Republic has already selected San Pedro as their host community. Along with “team houses” in communities, the Games brings an opportunity for other countries to bring their latest technology and innovations to put on full display for the world.
GET INVOLVED AS A VOLUNTEER
LA28 will mobilize some 75,000 volunteers across the region over the course of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in a variety of capacities to ensure the games are successful. Jobs will include directing travelers as they disembark at LAX to ambassadors at our various transportation hubs to ensure travelers can find their way to venues. If you are interested in volunteering for the LA28 Games, register yourself to receive LA28 updates by visiting LA28.org.

OVER 500 GRADUATES OF HIRELAX APPRENTICESHIP
READINESS PROGRAM
The HireLAX program is a unique workforce development program that prepares local residents for skilled craft labor careers to support the $30 billiondollar capital improvement program at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Upon graduation from this eight-week course, participants are considered "apprenticeship-ready," able to pursue union apprenticeship positions that can lead to jobs working on projects at LAWA airports or throughout the region. This helps LAWA meet or exceed its goal of 30 percent local hire participation in its capital improvement projects.
ECONOMIC IMPACT OF LOCAL SKILLED WORKFORCE TRANSFORMATION
Turn your next meeting into a seaside escape in Marina del Rey, where seven resort-style waterfront hotels, dozens of dockside restaurants, and reception-ready yachts make it easy to merge productivity and play. Kick start the day on a kayak, take a meeting break on the beach, and unwind with cocktails overlooking the harbor—all just four miles from LAX.
