ICGC OPENS GYM & SPORTS FACILITY The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) has officially opened an Ultra-Modern Gym and Sports Facility at Christ Temple on Sunday, 1st September 2013 at Abossey Okai, Accra.

Think Positively - Principal advises postgraduate students The Very Rev. Prof. S.K. Adjepong, Principal of the Methodist University College Ghana has urged MBA students of the University College not to either argue with their Lecturers or draw hasty conclusions. He was speaking to students at an orientation that was organised for MBA students by the University College on 18th October, 2011. In his welcome address, Very Rev. Prof. Adjepong mentioned that it was a great pleasure to welcome students to join the noble institution and that private university students were always special because they propelled the image of the university by the kind of research they did. He told the students that M UCG was very mindful of them and would make sure it produced strong productive and relevant graduates in the country.

Addressing the students, he said that students should look at themselves as very special people, because they were trained to think positively and that they were expected to work very hard to maintain high standards and become visible. "Be independent, think critically, open your ears very well, have facts and figures and do not argue with your lecturers blindly, always think outside the box by going beyond what has been taught by your lecturers", he added. He encouraged students to believe in themselves and to be able to act independently. He told them that, it was hoped that at the end of the course, students could boldly move out to work and have knowledge in all disciplines. According to him, MUCG was bent on training students to have enough training in the mind and that MUCG would use information technology to enhance teaching and learning. To him, students must be instilled with true university culture where independent minds could interact. "We want you to be scholars", he added.

On his part, Prof. A.B.K. Dadzie, Chairman, Board of the Postgraduate Studies Committee, mentioned that Postgraduate studies in Methodist University College Ghana was structured in a way that would produce graduates whose minds could analyse and find answers to questions, have ability to think clearly and to find solutions to problems in the society. He also told students that the postgraduate programme in MUCG did not teach students the course but rather helped students to define the boundaries of their responsibilities. He also cautioned students not to take everything they got from the internet as the gospel truth. He explained to students the various structures and responsibilities of the Board of the Postgraduate Studies Committee. The South Ghana Conference is made up of the Volta and the Greater-Accra regions.

Pastor Dr Annan-Nunoo said the SDA message would be taken to schools and hospitals in the rural areas.He said an extended campus of the Valley View University, an A d v e n t i s t Te r t i a r y Institution, would be opened in the Volta Region soon.

While the church is 125 in Ghana, it is 70 years in the Volta Region, introduced first in Bodada in the Jasikan District by one Thomas Adjei, son of a Buem slave maid, captured and sent to the Ashanti Region.

Dr Annan-Nunoo said Mr Adjei travelled by bicycle from Mprim, Ashanti Region,

to Bodada and his first convert was Nana Ati, a linguist.Dr Annan-Nunoo said Linguist Ati abandoned his position, got baptized as Peter Kofi Akpandja, to begin the Adventist evangelization in the region.

Pastor Dr Samuel Adama Larmie, President of the Ghana Union Conference of the Church, said the celebration of the day in Ho was an indication of the church's preparedness to begin evangelistic work in the rest of the 10 districts of the region.Currently the SDA is present in 15 of the 25 districts in the region, where it is most visible through schools.Dr Larmie said the calamities happening in the world, such as typhoons and tsunamis and discordant character traits of humans, should nudge people to ask themselves if they were

getting closer to God or further away from Him, as the end times approached.

He said, however, that the end would come only according to the dictates of God adding that it was important Christians proclaimed the gospel and lived the gospel.

Dr William Brown, Country Director of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) and Pastor Kingsley Osei, General Manager of the Advent Press, pledged to work hard to achieve the dream of the Adventist Church in Ghana.

ADRA in Ghana is synonymous to rural development, with several social intervention projects in the areas of water and sanitation, education and agriculture.Monsignor Anthony Kornu, Vicar General of the Ho Diocese of

the Catholic Church, who represented Right Rev Francis Lodonu, Bishop, lauded the SDA Church for its vibrancy, urging churches to stress on what united them and not their differences.The SDA Church, with 700,000 members currently, has 600 basic schools, 14 senior high schools, three tertiary institutions, one school of pharmacy and two health assistant training schools.

Church members of the Kaneshie Presbyterian Church are in grief following the discovery of over GH¢200,000.00 of their tithe offering been embezzled by three individuals, at the expense of the whole congregation.The three, The Chronicle learned, are also church members, working at the accounts department of the church. According to inside sources, for some months now, revenue from tithe offerings were not reflecting in the church's accounts, thereby raising suspicion among the leadership of the church.This prompted them to bring in external auditors to audit the accounts of the church, resulting in the discovery of the disappearance of over GH¢200, 000.000 from the books of the church. Hit with the news, the leadership of the church, The Chronicle learned, reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of three suspects, who are currently languishing in police custody, pending further investigation into the matter. When The Chronicle visited the premises of the church yesterday, to ascertain the veracity of the matter from the District Minister, Rev. William N. Boahen Appiah, this reporter was informed that the Minister was having a nap. Desirous of getting to the bottom of the matter, The Chronicle got in touch with the Second Minister at his residence, but the minister demanded that the reporter produced an identity card before he would comment on the issue. “We don't talk to people we cannot ascertain their identity. Go and come tomorrow with your ID card”, noted the Second Minister, before walking off. He would not listen to any further explanation from the reporter. Stay tuned for more details.

The donation of large bags of specially prepared food, clothing's, cabinets, chairs and free medical screening by

qualified specialist doctors for inmates characterized the three-day crusade organized by the Compassion Ministry of the Church. The inmates were given medication for whatever disease condition they were affected with and those with critical conditions needing surgical operations were referred to the hospitals for further treatment with cost to be covered by Royalhouse Chapel International. The man and woman of God fellowshipped with both the male and female inmates as they preached the saving word of God that saw the sick healed amidst deliverance as countless inmates gave their lives to Christ. The crusade saw testimonies and song ministrations by both the church choirs and the prison choirs. — in Nsawam.

The injunction of Jesus to his disciples to go out there and preach to all nations is very sacred to every Christian. All serious Christian organization has adopted several ingenious ways to spread the message of Christ. Some have adopted the direct approach by visiting the homes of strangers directly in order to spread the message. Some have also adopted modern means of communication to propagate their message. Some of the means adopted includes Radio telecast, T.V evangelism, Postal, newsletters, community crusades and other mediums all in the quest of winning more souls for our Lord Jesus Christ. It is instructive to note that all the different ways adopted by Christians to spread the message is accepted by Christ. None is superior to the other. Jesus injunction at Mathew 28: 19, 20 did not

prescribe any medium for spreading the message. Jesus only told his followers to go out and make disciples and teach them his ways. Whether by direct visitation to the homes of people or through modern means of communication, the value and objective must remain the safe of winning souls for our Lord Jesus Christ! I have watched different T.V channels that propagate Christian teaching and I have no doubt been impressed. One Christian television channel that has stood out and has been acknowledged worldwide is Emmanuel.TV, a television channel belonging to the Synagogue Church of All Nations. In Ghana, the decoders of Multi T.V and Strong channels sell pretty fast because of access to Emmanuel TV. Emmanuel T.V has been acknowledged in countries like Zimbabwe, South Africa, Uganda, Angola, Ghana, Nigeria, Mozambique, Liberia and Sierra Leone as attractive wide viewership than any religious channel that exists in those countries. This is a fact that every research will acknowledge. Now the question is, why does Emmanuel T.V attract such wide listenership? What has been the experience of people that watch Emmanuel T.V? I will give you some few examples Christina I am a 53 year old lady. I attained menopause more than 2 yrs back and thought all was well until I had a sudden resumption of my 'menstrual periods' in April this year.

The bleeding was heavy. I became miserable, depressed, and confused. Doctors diagnosed multiple fibroids following a scan in June and put me on some medication.

The awards were made in during an annual harvest of the church on the theme: “They rejoice over the offering, for they have given freely and whole-heartedly to Lord.”

Rev James Adu Yaw, the Presiding Elder of the AkimAkroso AME Zion Church said the awards were aimed at boosting the spirit of volunteerism of the people and to work assiduously for the development of the church and country.

Some of the awardees include Mr Agyei Owusu, Nana Oduro and Mr Hayford Otchere Danso.

Mr Danso on behalf of the awardees thanked God and the entire church members for the honour done them.

HEALING JESUS CRUSADE IN IVORY COAST Bishop Dag Heward Mills, Presiding Bishop of Light house Chapel Int, an Evangelist and a writer with over 100 books to his credit took his Healing Crusade tour to the Ivory coast going about Healing and Ministering the word of salvation in five (5) cities from Mon 11th – Fri 29th November, 2013.

Going from Divo, Yampusokrom, Aboaboa, gagnoa and Dabola with his team, greater works of wonders is Jesus doing through him.

Training and Conference Speaking for Pastors and lay leaders in mornings and mounting the big platforms in the evenings, impaction was seen in the Lives of the Sick, Oppressed and possessed by Holy Spirit setting them free from all bondages with faith as the corner stone. Thousands of souls received Jesus as their Lord and personal savior. In a post on facebook, Bishop said is it not great to know that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever? That He's still healing the blind?, Still healing long standing illnesses?, Still healing paralysed people? Still healing people's children? And still backing His word with mighty wonders and miracles? I thank God for the great miracles and salvation we are witnessing here in Ivory Coast.

In Dalola, the Healing Jesus Campaign team were met with great joy and excitement by the pastors and leaders of the various churches at the entrance to the city and escorted through the city to the Methodist church where the crowd had gathered to officially welcome the Healing Jesus Campaign into the city. Later, during the night campaign in Dalola, it began to rain heavily just before Bishop Dag started calling for testimonies of healing. In spite of the heavy downpour, the crowd stood in the rain waiting to hear and rejoice. The first person to rush forward to testify was a woman who had been totally blind for about three years. During the prayer for sick, she was touched by the power of God and her eyes miraculously popped open and she began to see! Many testimonies of miracles as were taken till they had to shut down all equipments. Preaching again on "ABUNDANT LIFE" in Daloa, he posted on his facebook wall asking if his if his followers do know that according to scripture, without shedding of blood, you cannot be forgiven? Images of the Pope kissing and embracing Vinicio Riva in St Peter's Square made headlines around the world, but his identity and background weren't known until two Italian news outlets found and interviewed him.

“My heart was bursting,” he told the Italian daily Corriere della Sera. When the Pope hugged him tight, he said he “felt like he was in paradise.”

Riva, 53, lives in a small village near Vicenza in northern Italy with his younger sister Morena Riva, who has the same genetic disorder, and their aunt, Caterina Lotto, who cares for them. The siblings' late mother also suffered from the disease, which is typically hereditary.

Riva told the Italian magazine Panorama that the thing that struck him most was that the Pope didn't hesitate at all.

“I'm not contagious, but (the Pope) didn't know that. But he did it: He caressed my whole face and while he was doing it, I felt only love,” he said.

“First, I kissed his hand, while he caressed my head and wounds with his other hand. Then he pulled me toward him, hugging me tight and kissing my face. My head was against his chest and his arms were wrapped around me. He held me so tightly, cuddling me, and he didn't let go.

“I tried to speak, to say something, but I wasn't able to: I was too choked up. It lasted just a little more than a minute, but, for me, it seemed like forever. The pope's hands are so soft. Soft and beautiful. And his smile (is) bright and wide.”

Neurofibromatosis results in numerous, often painful benign tumours. Riva, whose body is covered in these tumours, said they constantly itch and he often wakes in the morning with his shirt soaked with blood from scratching.

“The first signs (of the disease) appeared after I was 15. They said I would be dead by 30. Instead, here I am,” he said.

He frequently has been shunned by people who didn't know him, he explained. The worst episode, he said, occurred one day as he sat in the front of a bus and a passenger told him to go sit in the back, saying, “You horrify me and I don't want to look at you”.

“No one, not even the driver, came to my defence. In fact, many passengers agreed with the man. That really hurt,” he added.

Lotto, his aunt, told Panorama that when she and Riva would be sitting in hospital waiting rooms when he was young, she would hold him close and hug him tight whenever people cringed or moved away in fear.

She embraced him “to make them both (Riva and the others) understand” there was nothing repulsive or scary about him, she said.

Riva said that he has lots of friends and is loved by almost everyone in his village. He goes out with friends for pizza and to watch football matches.

He also flirts with the nurses, the magazine said, and, although he only earns a small allowance volunteering, he spends a good chunk of that money on them.

A humanist group in America has 'bullied' a school into ending a collection of Christmas gifts for disadvantaged children.

Muslim Herdsmen Slaughter Christians in Nigeria Muslim herdsmen are suspected to have slaughtered Christians like cattle in coordinated attacks on four Plateau state villages in central Nigeria early Tuesday morning, according to Morning Star News.

In their attacks on the predominantly Christian villages, ethnic Fulani herdsmen killed 37 and injured many more, according to a press release by Special Task Force spokesman Salisu Mustapha.

Mustapha also confirmed the identity of the attackers by phone to Morning Star while his forces were still fighting them.

Church leaders suspect that Islamic extremists are inciting Fulani Muslims to attack Christians in Plateau state as well as in Kaduna, Bauchi, Nasarawa and Benue states. The herdsmen are working together to take Christian lands for grazing their cattle and to expand Islamic influence into predominantly Christian regions.

Felicia Anselem, spokesperson for the Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police, confirmed that the attacks were coordinated.

The attacks were carried out at about 1 a.m. this morning (Nov. 26) in the villages of Rawuru, Tasu, Foron and Gurabok. The attackers attacked the villages at the same time, having gone there in groups.

The Rev. Soja Bewarang, president of the Church of Christ in Nigeria, said Christians are acutely aware that God has the final say on the persecution the church is now facing in Nigeria.

Even as we are looking at these issues, we need not forget that God has the final say on man and his security concerns, he said. Therefore, we must always surrender our security concerns to the Lord, because the Watchman watches in vain if the Lord does not watch alongside with him.

Extremists Throw Acid on Priest in Zanzibar Claiming Christians don't belong in Zanzibar, extremists threw acid on a 60-yearold Catholic priest, Rev. Joseph Mwangamba as he left an Internet cafe on the outskirts of Zanzibar City. A cafe worker said assailants threw acid on his face and chest as they warned him to leave the islands.

"Finish him," said one of Mwangamba's assailants. "Zanzibar is only for Muslims not for Christians," Mariamu Juma told Morning Star News.

As the assailants fled, Juma poured water on the priest, who was rushed to Mnazi Moja Hospital in critical condition; Mwangamba was later transferred to Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar-es Salaam where his condition is stable, according to Pastor Lucian Mgaywa of the Church of God. A search of the island uncovered 29 liters of acid belonging to suspected members of al Shabaab, a militant Islamist faction fighting the government in Somalia; 15 people were arrested.

New Constitution to remove restrictions on churches in Egypt A 50-member committee tasked with revamping Egypt's current constitution has removed the document's repressive restrictions on church construction, according to Barnabas Aid. The committee continues to scrub last year's constitution following the removal of President Mohammed Morsi in July. But before Morsi was deposed, members of his Muslim Brotherhood -- who had dominated Egypt's constitutional assembly -- had crafted an Islamist constitution that would have subjected the entire population to shari'a.

Now, however, the constitution has become more secular after the committee nullified the restrictions that required Egypt's Christians to obtain a presidential permit to build, repair or even renovate a church.

"Under a liberal constitution," said committee member Mohamed Abul-Ghar, chairman of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, "all Egyptians, particularly Christians, must be allowed to build their own places of worship freely".

Other proposed revisions to Egypt's constitution include a ban on all political parties based upon religion. The new constitution is expected to be put to a public vote by the end of the year.

150 Christians Imprisoned in Eritrea for Praying Together Heritrean security forces recently raided yet another prayer meeting, arresting about 150 Christians in a suburb of Asmara, the African nation's capital, according to Religion Today.

The Christians -- members of an underground fellowship known as "Living God" -- reportedly met to pray about Eritrea's refugee crisis and other national concerns.

"Living God" is part of a network of underground fellowships that sprang up in Eritrea after 2002 when the government banned all religious groups with the exception of three state-sanctioned denominations: the Eritrean Orthodox Church, the Catholic Church and the Lutheran-affiliated Evangelical Church of Eritrea. All of the Pentecostal and independent evangelical groups that had established missions in Eritrea were excluded, according to The Christians.com.

Boko Haram Kidnaps French Priest in Cameroon A church official in northern Cameroon says the gunmen who kidnapped a French priest are demanding the release of members of an armed Islamic group who have been arrested.

Fellow priest Gilbert Pali said Friday that the kidnappers had sent a representative back to the area to issue their demands.

Father Georges Vandenbeusch was kidnapped late Wednesday in the far north of Cameroon, about 18 miles (30 kilometers) from the border with Nigeria. The zone has been flagged as a risk for terrorism and kidnapping, but the priest chose to stay on to carry out his work, the French Foreign Ministry said.

The kidnappers are seeking the release of prisoners from Boko Haram, a Nigerian extremist group that has waged a campaign of bombings and shootings across Nigeria's north.

Demolition of Church Buildings in Nigeria In Nigeria's Borno state, Christian leaders last week decried the government's plan to demolish 25 Christian buildings in order to make room for a housing project, according to Morning Star News.

"We are all Nigerians and there are other places where the state government can develop," the Rev. Musa Asake said at a September press conference in Abuja. "The areas being earmarked for demolition are already developed with churches and schools ... The Borno state government should reconsider that decision to demolish churches and their properties, because in Borno state there are many vast lands. They should do that instead of going to these areas where Christians have settled for so long."

In August, Musa Ummate of the Borno State Ministry of Lands and Survey wrote that those church properties were being "acquired" to create room for t h e d e v e l o p m e n t o f a h o u s i n g e s t a t e .
