Marriages Made in (Almost) Heaven
Following the ceremonies, family, friends, and students were treated to a delightful reception in the St. Lawrence Commons. Later that evening all returned to a wonderfully decorated Commons for one last dance, with music provided by a live swing band, The Yesterday Swing Orchestra. The graduating class had a number of interesting aspects to it. Besides being the largest graduating class in the College’s 30-year history, (95 BA’s and 2 AA’s), 37 of the graduates were siblings of other Christendom alumni; 2 of them have parents who are alumni; and most interestingly, 12 of them (6 couples) were engaged to each other. Twenty-four of them majored in History, 22 in English Language and Literature, 22 in Philosophy, 15 in Theology, 11 in Political Science and Economics, and 4 majored in Classics. Additionally, almost 52% of the class, comprised of 57 females and 40 males, graduated with honors – 17 Summa Cum Laude, 15 Magna Cum Laude, and 17 Cum Laude.
