A favorite childhood memory for many is loading up in the family car, throwing a picnic basket in the back, and heading out to “see what we can see”. The summer months especially bring the desire to travel and each year more and more families are taking to the open road looking for adventure. Depending on where you live, there may be great road trips right on your doorstep. Here are a few of our favorite road warrior destinations for you to explore.
Niagara Falls, New York Consistently one of the most popular road trip destinations in the country, Niagara Falls has much to offer. Take a trip to the base of the falls on the Maid of the Mist, explore the tunnel and see the falls from underneath, or just enjoy the beauty of the Niagara River and nearby waterfalls. This area is also home to some pretty great day trips. Nearby Old Fort Niagara offers an opportunity for a history lesson. Also nearby is the Erie Canal and the Great Lakes turning this quick trip into a full-blown vacation.
