**URGENT CAR REGISTRATIONS URGENT**

Beginning April 1st all car registrations must be updated with the CLCA Office. Stop in and see Liz, I know she would love to see you and give her copies of all updated car registrations. Every car with a gate card should have an updated registration on file by May 31st. At which time any gate card without an updated registration will be deactivated until a new one is received. Or email them to Liz at adminassistant@conashaughlakes.com

Just a gentle reminder that parking in the mailbox area to pick children up from the school bus is not permitted an tickets will be issued to the offenders.

It is unsafe and puts your child at risk of being hit by a car.

Please use the bus area for drop off and pick up, the two extra minutes you spend may save a life. Parking on Conashaugh Trail is also not permitted.

Do you have an idea for an article in the Conashaugh Courier? Forward it to me at CLCABoardDirector@Gmail.com and the Communications Committee will print it!!! You could be a monthly contributor!!!

CLCA March Security Report

3.2.2025 to 04.1.2025

Security phone number 570-832-5660

MONTHLY SECURITY REPORT

There has been an increase in the number of loose dogs and animal complaints.

Please remember Rules and Regulations Article 11, Section D states the following: All animals shall be on their owner’s property and under the control of the owner on said property. No domestic animals shall be permitted to run at-large. When the animal(s) is being walked off the owner’s property, the animal(s) shall be on a leash and with the owner or a responsible person at all times. Pet restrictions are posted within CLCA.

Definition: “At-large” shall mean any animal(s) that is loose within the community. All incidents shall be dealt with accordingly and the appropriate Animal Control Officer shall be notified.

Note: Animal owners shall be held responsible for any damages caused by their animals. Please keep all your pets safe

Parking by the mailboxes for after school pick up continues to be an issue. There have been instances of homeowners becoming aggressive with our Security Officers, telling them they live here, no one will tell them what to do and, in general, ignore the Security Officers while they are trying to direct the bus traffic. This is unacceptable behavior and could possibly lead to one of our children being harmed.

We had an instance this month of Gospel preachers driving up to a home and attempting to preach to the homeowner. Please do not let anyone into the community you do not know or are not expecting. Don’t assume the person at the gate trying to get in is someone you expect. Answer every request and, if they are not known to you, don’t let them in.

We had some issues with PTD emails a few weeks ago with our email blast program. This has since been addressed.

There have been instances of individuals dumping their recycling on the ground in front of and to the side of the recycling bins as well as people not breaking down their boxes when putting their items in these bins.

This behavior attracts animals and pests not to mention the very bad impression it gives to our visitors, friends and family.

As you know, the road ban is still in effect and will be reviewed on Thursdays.

Don’t forget to submit your pictures for the pool pass badges early in the event you need one

Replacement cost of a lost pool pass is $10.00.

Three stop signs were discovered missing during security regular patrols. They were on Junco, Sandy Pine and White Tail. Reports given to maintenance to replace.

In the Northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA) region, including Conshaugh Lakes, you're most likely to see the Ruby-throated Hummingbird, a migratory species, arriving in spring and departing in fall, with some returning to the same feeding sites each year.

Here's a more detailed look at hummingbirds in NEPA:

Species:

The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is the most common hummingbird in the eastern half of North America, including NEPA.

Migration:

These hummingbirds are migratory, spending about eight months in North America, and some stay year-round in the southern states.

Arrival Time:

Their arrival in Pennsylvania seems to align with the blooming of wild columbine, although the availability of flying insects and flowing sap also play a significant role.

Attracting Hummingbirds:

Feeders: Clean and fill hummingbird feeders with a sugar-water mixture (1 part sugar to 4 parts water) by the last week of March to attract early migrants.

Plants: Plant hummingbird-friendly flowers like red-flowering salvia, pineapple sage, cardinal flower, bee balm, and native trumpet honeysuckle.

Perches: Construct perches for birds to rest and observe their surroundings.

Nests:

Female hummingbirds typically build their nests in deciduous trees, about 10 to 40 feet off the ground, using materials like thistle down and spider silk.

Other Hummingbird Species:

While the Ruby-throated Hummingbird is the most common, other hummingbird species, like the Rufous Hummingbird, are occasionally seen in Pennsylvania, but are considered rare.

Where to Spot Them:

Look for hummingbirds near areas with nectar sources, such as hummingbird feeders and flowering plants.

Safety:

Keep feeders in shaded areas and away from windows to prevent collisions.

Meet the New Board of Directors

From Left to Right: Dawn LoBello, Raymond McLaughlin, Perry Langbein, J. Craig Henry, John Thies, Annette Evans, David Duke and Patrick Allen (missing Howard Smaller)

The Board walked the Conashaugh Dam accompanied by Craig Cueno and Dave Altemier. I am so impressed by the knowledge of our beautiful community that these two men share.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

The luck of the Irish was with everyone on March 15th as we enjoyed corned beef and cabbage prepared by Kate Allen and homemade soda breads.

The many mushrooms that grow in Conashaugh. Does anyone in our community know about mushrooms?

Answer to last months Do you know where I am contest:

Heart shaped rock behind tennis courts

Did you guess correctly? You’re very observant.
