ABOUT THE PROGRAMME This programme gives details of the groups that will be held in 2018/2019.

As this programme is printed in advance of the next academic year, check for possible updates on the website www.farnhamu3a.org.uk.

The U3A notice board in the corridor leading to the Maltings café also posts events.

KEY DATES for ACADEMIC YEAR 2018/2019 Term dates 2018/2019 Autumn Term - 10th September to 21st December.

Spring Term 2nd January to 18th April.

Summer Term - 23rd April to 28th June.

Registration Morning Thursday 6th September 2018, 10.00 – 12.00, at the Maltings Annual General Meeting Monday, 10th September 2018, 14.00 – 16.00 hrs at the Maltings.

New Members’ Reception Wednesday, 17 October 2018. 10.00 – 12.00 at the Maltings - BY INVITATION ONLY. Annual Group Leaders and Secretaries Meeting Tuesday, 30th April 2019. 14.00 – 16.00 at the Maltings.

JOINING GROUPS AND MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION Joining groups You can find out about and join groups at Registration Morning, or before by emailing or telephoning (during office hours only) the person shown as the contact for that group. If no place is available, you can ask to go on a waiting list.

Registration Morning All groups are represented at Registration Morning on Thursday 6 September. This is an opportunity to learn more about groups, meet the organisers and register in person. You can learn about the Annual Theme and Monthly Meetings.

Membership You must show your new Membership Card when registering for any groups or when attending a group for the first time in each academic year. Please fill in your emergency contact details on the back of the card.

Where groups meet The majority of our groups meet at the Farnham Maltings. Where other locations are used, these are given in the programme. Rooms allocated for meetings at the Maltings are posted daily on the notice board opposite the reception desk. Room changes can occur at short notice, so do check the board!

13 Cycling Club - David Mullen The group gives all abilities of cyclist a chance to ride and socialise in a friendly, noncompetitive environment and to discover the wonderful Surrey and Hampshire scenery. Two groups: EASIER about 15 miles with some tracks; MODERATE about 25 miles, all on roads. Usually both groups meet for refreshments. Minimum equipment: well-maintained bike & spare inner tube. Suggested: cycle helmet, water bottle and money for coffee/cake. If there is demand, Thursday SMILES group for gaining confidence on a bike.

22 Swimming - David Goddard There is no tuition, purely recreational swimming. We have a 1 hour use of pool and changing room each session. Girls and boys changing rooms have showers.
