CRIMESCENEPRESERVATION

1. INTRODUCTION

Castle Hill RSL Club Ltd (CHRG) is committed to ensuring the welfare of all persons on site. Should an incident occur that threatens that welfare, we are committed to aiding the relevant authorities to apprehend any offenders.

This policy applies to all team members of CHRG.

2. ACTS OF VIOLENCE

Immediately after a team member becomes aware of an act of violence causing an injury to a person on the premises the person must immediately notify the Customer Service Manager.

The Customer Service Manager will take all practical steps to preserve and keep intact the area where the act of violence occurred, and retain all material and implements associated with the act of violence including:

 Make direct and personal contact with the Local Area Commander and advise of the incident.

 Comply with all directions given by the Commander to preserve the area where the incident occurred.

 Determining the scene e.g. perimeter and location/s.

 Preventing access to and securing the scene by placing a person to guard the area.

 Making inquiries to identify the assailant/s where appropriate.

 Requesting witnesses remain within the premises until police arrive – if not, record all witnesses’ particulars where practical.

 Ensuringthe sceneis not leftunattended,nothingis touched or interfered with (e.g.movingfurniture, touching weapons, cleaning surfaces etc). Interfering with evidence may constitute an offence.

 Recording all information into notebooks/incident registers ensuring names, specific tasks and/or involvements of each person are recorded.

 Provide all records in notebooks/incident registers to police.

3. BREACH OF THIS POLICY

Breaches of this policy may result in counselling and or disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.

4. REVIEW OF THIS POLICY

This policy will be reviewed every two years to ensure it remains consistent with all relevant legislative requirements, as well as the changing nature of the company or more frequently where legislative requirements are changed or amended.

5. POLICY COMMUNICATION AND EDUCATION

This policy will be stored on CHRG’s intranet site. It will be incorporated into induction/onboarding programs and CHRG will conduct education sessions on the application and operation of this policy as required and when any changes to the policy are implemented.
