With Jimmy and Amy’s main focus being giving back to the livestock community, the donations received go back to the exhibitors through cash payouts, beautiful awards, and scholarships. In our inaugural year, they were able to give out over $175,000 in premium money and awards. In the first year, The Revival exhibitors showed over 800 head of hogs and nearly 700 head of sheep and goats. These numbers exceeded the entries of any other jackpot show in California at that point in the year. Additionally, The Revival Livestock Show brings a new revenue stream to the community of Merced, as they hosted over 600 exhibitors and their families. From the support of their generous donors, they hope to continue growing and giving even more back to the junior livestock showmen. The next goal for the show is to get enough sponsorships to cover all expenses, so that 100% of the entry money can go back to the exhibitors. In 2023, The Revival Livestock show will offer nine hog breed divisions, five market lamb breed divisions, three market goat divisions, and wether dam shows for sheep and goats. They created these divisions to give recognition to those breeders and showmen across the nation and give exhibitors more opportunity to shine. This show would not be possible without the support of our amazing friends and family who volunteered their time to help us create this memorable show.
Amy and Jimmy Hutchinson are the visionaries behind The Revival Livestock Show. They met while attending Modesto Junior College and were brought together by their shared passion for the livestock show industry. Amy grew up showing sheep and hogs, while Jimmy was showing heifers and steers. After they aged out of youth livestock shows, they could still be found by the show rings assisting the next generation of showmen. As newlyweds, Jimmy and Amy have plans to start a family and hope that their children one day will be part of this amazing industry that brought so many opportunities to them.
We would often dream about what we would do if we ever hosted our own junior livestock event. In the height of the pandemic, we felt it was time to bring change and new meaning to livestock shows. It was time for a revival. With so many fairs and youth livestock shows being canceled, we wanted to provide a stage for these showmen to present their projects and compete at the highest level. Our goal was to provide a platform that would highlight the youth and future of the livestock industry. We aimed to give big payouts, custom awards, and most of all, an experience of a lifetime. We created The Revival during a time of so much uncertainty, but with the support of our community and the agriculture industry, we were able to create an event that has left a lasting impression on so many of our exhibitors and spectators. We cannot wait to keep building on this and creating more memories for the youth for years to come.
