OUR PEOPLE OUR HR STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE
KEY IFS VALUE
OUR PEOPLE
To be the employer of choice where we retain talent through personal and professional growth, a total rewards perspective and inspirational leadership.
We build our people, giving them the opportunity to grow, treating them with respect and fairly rewarding them for performance in a safe and caring work environment.
Our HR professionals have years of experience in recruiting and training our staff. We have a great track record of developing staff to become valuable assets to our organisation.
We aim to recruit 90% of our service staff in remote camps from local communities. Our comprehensive training provides the framework to ensure that all staff work to our high standards.
We invest in our people, recognising and developing talent wherever we find it.
Achieving world-class standards in what we do would be impossible without the ongoing commitment and dedication of all of our staff members. That’s why we ensure that everyone in the IFS family is encouraged to abide by our values, and receives the training and resources to fulfill their role to the best of their ability. We treat our staff well, so that they treat your staff well.
WHERE WE OPERATE We have an African footprint.
The underlying principle of all our CSI programmes is to make a significant and sustainable impact on the day-to-day lives in the communities in which we work, especially in the lives of children, their education and self-esteem.
We also conduct lifestyle programmes aimed at positively impacting the lives of our clients and our employees.
CSI & LOCAL CONTENT
We have built sustainable relationships over the years and our constant focus on CSI is one of the many things that differentiates IFS from any other facilities management company.
Working throughout Africa, often in remote rural regions, provides us with a unique opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of the people we encounter. Apart from the obvious short-term benefits of job creation and employment training, we aim to create long-term and sustainable change in other important ways.
SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT
IFS camps need large quantities of fresh produce on a daily basis. Where possible, we invite small-scale producers to partner with us for mutual benefit. We have partnered with NGO organisations such as EcoLivelihoods, which provides training on community gardening and sustainable farming. We source more than 90% of our fresh produce from local farmers. Over the years, we have encouraged these businesses to grow from subsistence farming to sustainable models that provide food security for the community and generate much-needed additional income from the sales of their produce.
INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
When our remote camps have served their purpose, we repurpose the infrastructure and donate to local communities as a valuable resource. Camp structures have been converted into classrooms, clinics and libraries.
EDUCATION
Education is one of the most important aspects of alleviating poverty and providing opportunities for rural communities to grow and develop. We have been privileged to have had the opportunity to assist in several projects that aim to provide support to schools.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND UPLIFTMENT
We realise the importance of working with and growing the communities around all our projects. We have built sustainable relationships over the years and our constant focus on CSI is one of the many things that differentiates IFS from any other facilities management company.
NAMIBIA SCHOOLS PROJECT
Having a presence in remote locations gives us an opportunity to get to know the community and gain insights into their needs. In Namibia, we discovered that the school children had an urgent requirement for backpacks to carry books and supplies to and from school. It was a need that was not being met by any other organisation. We stepped in and supplied and distributed over 19 000 backpacks to scholars in need.
SETHANI VILLAGE
Sethani is a community-based organisation working to empower the community and relieve orphan poverty in KwaNgcolosi, a semi-rural tribal area of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. HIV/AIDS has had a huge impact on communities and villages such as Sethani with the result that many children are living without their parents. Sethani works to keep the children within their local communities by providing support to them and their extended families.
We realise the importance of working with and growing the communities around all our projects.
WE SEE LIFESTYLE AS PART OF OUR DNA AND WHO WE ARE.
Lifestyle is not only about events and special meals, but the attitude and atmosphere that we create on the camps we operate.
“
