know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 13:34-35
“Let no debt remain outstanding except the continuing debt to love on another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.”
Gal. 13:8
As I have examined my personal “love walk” lately, referring to the
command in the above verse, I have been challenged in many ways My mind and my heart do not always line up unfortunately, because my heart knows that God’s Word says “Love is patient and kind and protects and trusts, and never fails” . ( 1 Cor. 13) But my mind remembers hurtful words and deeds - maybe not always projected at me personally, but sometimes to someone I cherish or care about - and then I just find it very difficult if not impossible to “love” that person Let’s face it - not all people are easy to love and too many times these individuals and their hurtful acts occupy our minds, keeping us from doing what we know is right and good. If we are to Love Like Jesus we must understand that this requires
submission to our God - in ALL areas of our lives So, as I meditated on this “Love debt” , I finally just prayed like this: “Lord, I’m battling this love command - how do I - how can I love like You, knowing that You willingly
gave Your life for all Your creation, even the ones who despised You?!
You sacrificed Your life! How can I possibly love like that?”
And just like our faithful Lord, His Words came to me as clear as if He were standing directly in front of me. He said, “I already provided that ultimate sacrifice. That’s finished! Are you willing, though, to BE that kind of love that hung on the cross? Are you willing to always let your light shine, so that those around you can “see” My grace and mercy in action? Are you willing to “be” that kind of love by living the truth of My Word so that there is no doubt that I AM THE ONE AND ONLY GOD?!”
WOW, what an answer.
There are hurtful people in our lives! There’s evil all around us, yet God has called us to be His light in the darkness. What great things can be accomplished for our Lord if we will give Him permission daily to work in and through us to draw these spiritually destitute people to the food of the cross - because we know“With God all things are possible!”
And we can Love Like Jesus!
Keep praying, warriors! Heaven hears! ~Georgia
