Pick up from Media Centre

Ana De Baro and Clive Cortis English speaking guides to meet guests at Media Centre. Proceed to Ta’Qali Mdina Glass Factory Since opening its doors to become Malta’s first glass factory way back in 1968, Mdina Glass has endeavoured to establish and maintain a reputation for artistic innovation, quality and consistency in each and every individual piece of glassware produced by its artisans. Mdina is Malta first capital city during the time of the knights of Malta, and also a colonial settlement of Imperial Rome. It is known as ‘The Silent City’. Hagar Qim Temples

The temple of Hagar Qim (c.3600 - 3200 BC) stands on a hilltop overlooking the sea and the islet of Filfla. The temple itself consists of a single temple unit, although it is not clear if it was originally constructed as a four or five-apse structure. Other temple ruins stand a few meters away from the main temple and the forecourt and facade follow the pattern typical of temples across the Islands. Particularly noteworthy are the larger orthostats at the corners, which are notched to take the second of the horizontal courses above. Various items of interest have been unearthed at Hagar Qim, notably a decorated pillar altar, two table-altars and some of the ‘fat lady’ statues on display in the National Museum of Archaeology. 12.00

Proceed to Birgu

Birgu is the oldest of the so-called ‘Three Cities’ adjacent to the Grand Harbour in Malta. Fort St Angelo, at the tip of its peninsula and Birgu itself were used to house the Headquarters, living quarters, arsenal, and other facilities of the Knights of St John when they came to Malta in 1530. Walk through Collacchio The Collacchio is where the Knights lived, surrounded by buildings representing several hundred years of architectural history. 13.00

Harbour Crossing – Meet with Walter Ahar to board on a typical Maltese Boat ‘Dghajsa’ crossing from Birgu to Valletta Harbour. Proceed to Valletta Upper Barrakka lift
