For a catch up, so far with this project I’ve come to idea of going back to the roots of balenciaga. This all branches of from the idea of ‘fixing’ the brand since their huge scandal.
from this idea I went on to create multiple croqui’s, edits and photoshoots to really create them a new image of themselves. the idea is to go back to the orginal master mind behind the brand who is Cristabol and use all of his heritage and history that made the brand againand summon it all back to the surface.
In this second half of the project I now have my idea, and intend to go forwrad by just doing one more mock shoot, a bit more styling research, the final shoot and the production that happens after.
After conducting the first photoshoot, going forward I’m able to rectify my mistakes to really perfect everything such as, styling, make-up, hair, the location and, so much more. In the mock shoot I think I did get really strong outcomes but, when it came to making the images look more professional, I think they were let down a lot. One major thing I was missing was that my make-up artisit was unable to attend the shoot. When it comes to photoshoots you need to make sure that everyone is ready and that was something that needed correcting for the final shoot coming up. Due to this mistake, going forward I intend to do a lot more planning with gathering everyone together. For example creating group chats and making sure everyone is free or ssemding out the same text so they all get the same info.
PHOTOSHOOT PLANNING
Next steps for the planning of my final photoshoot is that one, I would lke to do a practice run of the make up and secondly plan further on getting my my styling further developed. for my styling I’d like to look in both charity charity shops, vinted, and, mine and the models wardrobes for my graments. as well as this, I would also like to create more styling croquis to show the vision of what I’m looking to achieve. As well as really planning the styling aspects as well as the make up and hair, I would also really like to conduct thorough planning and thought process of exactly how each step will be going to the end. For example dates and deadlines to make sure eeverything stays on track. Lastly I plan to write weekly updates and plan updates to stay on track.
REFLECTION AND FIXING
My next steps is to look into styling as right now thats what is missing the most. For this, I will be looking on both online and charity shops to find the best peices for the shoot. For example, one place I will look will be Vinted.
After editing the images from the last photoshoot I wanted to look back and reflect on what went well and what maybe needed adding and improving. The biggest thing that stood out for me was that the sideof Denma didn’t show through the same way Balenciaga’s side did. So, going forwar I intend on reseraching how I could fix that as well as going on to testing it.
From looking at these two images I know that the time aspect is coming through but now I really need to show the street side perfectly mixed together.
Above the image here is showing some amazing finds for possible garments I can use in my shoot. I tried to find a range of both street and glam items as well as taking inspiration from Billie like in the previous page. For example looking at elegant ball gown dresses and skirts as well as jewellery and shirts to pair together this street and glam style.
With using Billie and Balenciaga’s heritage, I intend to put together for on of my looks a simple white shirt with a red tie then adding in aspects of glam to dress it up. For example adding in a pearl necklace, large earings as well as some high heeled boots. Once this is pulled together with hair and makeup I think the look im going for will really come together.
molly godard ss/24
Looking into Molly Godard and her recent SS24 I was interested to see how she went forward with glam and this take on using decontructed gowns was an beautiful idea. I love how she dcided to use underskirst and underwear from the 1950’s as well as some aspects from the Gerogian times.
The SS24 collection was all based on deconstruction, as well as having this aspect of costume design. To pull together such incredible garments and to do that she looked at the dresses inside out and took the spects of grograin strapping, zips, boning, and binding.
Linking back to my idea for Balenciaga, I decided that this aspect of glamis unique and that’s exactly what Balenciaga would want, something resh and new. I think I’ve played this very safe so far so taking a page out of Molly Godards book could be a huge help for the dvelopment of my work.
Going forwrad from this I would like to look further into Molly Godard’s work and see how she potrays both glam and street together as this, is something i’m trying to potray in my own work. I think I’ve gone to old fashioned glam and now I plan to bring more of Denma back into my work.
Molly’s SS24 work is both potraying midcentury fashion as well as modern and being able to the balance the two has worked beautifully well.
ss/24
This dress here is one of my favourites and one I inntend to take inpiration from for my own styling. I think this is something I can see Denma doing. This technique used is something that can help insire ideas and is something I may use to inspire myself, and push myself out this safety net.
My plans going forward is to gather as many fabrics and graments as I can and use those to really experiment and push out some interesting outcomes. Using old methodss I will use these outcomes to help with styling and help myself envision what this shoot could really look like.
Must get this balance of both glam and street but remeber Denma is the face but Cristabol will help from the past...
J O H N G A
After looking into to Molly Godard, I decided to look into the legen that si John Galliano. With the recent documentary that dropped we have all learnt a great deal about him and his past. From struggling with addiction he has always remained a huge success within the fashion industry. Coming away from this personal side of him, I wanted to look into the ways of which he works and see if I can use any of that as inspiration like Godard.
Looking into Galliano’s work with DIOR in 2007 the glam aspect that was perscieved was perfect. The elegance was there and the moderness all put together as one. Although fired from Dior with the recent Met Gala he seems to of come back stronger than ever. Going back to how he captured such elegance, this is exactly what we saw through his looks. For example, Zendaya had one of the most stunning dresses!
When It comes to design Galliano is all about haute couture which is a massive similarity with Cristabol Balenciaga. In all collections designed by Galliano, You can see the elegance behind it as feel the exclusivity, When Gallino was removed from DIOR everyone had very different views on it all but I think it’s safe to say that everyone loved and missed his work. In one quote from A TikTok video someone he worked with said ‘He designs clothes for woman to feel like woman’ and this, is how I said fashion would be going. This clean girl is gone and we now want to feel like glamourous woman and that is where I can have Galliano inspire and help me.
Going forward I intend to look further into how Galliano conducted these dresses and what tatics he used to get there. Once I have the knowledge I want to go off and style something myself.
A L L I A N O
After having a brief look on who John Galliano is and what he really does, I decided to look at what others seein in him and what projects he has created. To see and view this through an audience eyes, I chose to look at videos on TikTok. What came up the most was people being upset about how he got fired but also people saying what bits of his work were their favourite. One collection that kept reappearing was the SS/2017 Haute Couture based around the theme of elegance and romance but was also based around a scandal (an affaire), something Denma would be all over.
Looking at this collection I was instantly in love and understoody what everyone was talking about. With the glam being so bold but so elegant you really coulsn’t turn your eyes away.
From seeing this I realised I was missing a wow factor within my own work and needed to find something that no one else does. For me that was transfroming street into glam instead of making glam street. For example having the baggy trousers coming through underneath a gown all ripped up.
DIOR 2007 HAUTE COUTURE
HAUTE
Looking into one of the most popular shows by Gilliano, I came across the Dior 2007 SS haute couture collection. This collection was inspired by the affaire of Pinkerton and Cio Cio San which in terms proved that he can take anything and make it into somethiing with emotion and narrative when it comes to fashion.
Looking into this collection, I loved seeing how bold and out there the glam was. This sort of glam is exactly what I was looking for and considering that DIOR and BALENCIAGA were one both called the Kings of haute couture, I thinktaking ispiration from this glam fits perfectly. With the se of feathers, layered jewellery and long gloves, this all shows eleements of wealth and glam back in the 50’s and even further back.
With each dress, he made these flower or flying bird necklines to create this sense of fntasy and romance which in a VOGUE artice he was said to be very fond of romntasing.
Going forward, I would like to use this boldness of glam in my work instead of focusing on this classic glam to much. As much as the classic looks got us to where we are that is not the world we live in anymore. Galliano’s world is where I need to go for inspiration.
STREET AND GLAM
After looking at Both John Galliano and Molly Goddard, I decided to link them together as glam and street. With Molly showing off more of these subtle looks and seeling more wearabable items online and Galliano being all about couture I wante to create some looks that cold display this but with a Balenciaga vibe of course. On the right page is a croquie I made using aspects of both street with the jeans and hood but also going into a glam look with the puff ball dress (being used as a top), and the city bag and other accessories.
Going forward I intend to create more of these croquies but then also gooff to do some flat lay looks of the styling to my upcoming shoot.
For my next croquis, I intend to keep a very similar look/vibe to them. The plan is to really make the theme visible to the consumers.
Some of the aspect I really liked was this layering of the two styles of clthes instead of tryig to make on new style. The use of the hood on the dress paired with the jeans and heels I think gives of the exactvibe I wanted. Although I liked the styled of the two for the the brand BalenciagaI think I need to add a unique twist to it all. Balenciaga have never been a safe brand so to make sure this campaign still suits the brand I need to make sure I don’t lean to much towards the safe side.
STYLE
STYLE SHOOT
After research, I wanted to go in and conduct a shoot based on a possible make up look.
For this look I wanted to go back to my idea od the dark aura as well as coming back to my research of Galliano as well using my muse Billie Eilish. For this I’m using bold Spanish make up but, messed up and smeared to show the messiness of this brand.
To do this im using past research of both Cristabol’s heritage as well as this street daring style of Denma. Here on the right is a couple of images I used for inspiration on the looks we conducted.
REFLECT...
From this shoot I was really happy with the dark aura it gave as well as this dark beauty glam side too.
We started off with the make-up being a sleek galm look with dark eyes and red lip but, as the shoot went on I decided I wanted to try something messier and from there we went on to start smudging the make up down her eyes as well as drawing on the effect (streaks of mascara flowing down here eyes). This have the model a edgy look and made her show emtions such as sadness mixed with fear. This story of the face here almot displayed the recent updated story of Balenciaga. For example, the brand started with Cristabol creating the brand as a structured and couture brand but, as this years went over and Denma took over the brand faced a new look of both street and scandal which is what the smeared make up represents.
But now that we have the face of both past and present what will be theface of the future that will be used in my final shoot. I think this shoot went really well but, I can improve for sure. I think going forward I would like to create a make up look that mixes between the two, maybe even somthing like a hlaf and half or, a look that is street on the eyes and glam elsewhere or the other way round. T o help myself I intend to have my make-up artisit to give me her opinion and help me.
WHATS NEXT?
Aftter doing some shooting of the make-up I decided to go on and plan some looks for inspiration to help my make-up artist get a good idea on what exactly i’m looking for. Knowing that I want this bold Spanish heritage to come through i’ve decided on bold red lips as well as a boldeye but with soffter features around the face. I think the make-up will tie this photoshoot together and really bring out this glam heritage. Something that I may need to try at the end is this messy make-up to link back to the damage of the
STYLE.LOOKS
Now with my new garmnets on the way I canbook in a date for the photoshot and really get to planning. The aim is to conduct the shoot on Wednesday the 29th of May, at Wrest Park as well as a few images taken infront of a screen. I now habe two models on board, me (the photographer and director), and make-up artisit all ready to go. With the next few days coming I plan to get into the final ideas of all styling aspects such as make-up,hair and clothing.

BUYNG GARMENTS...
-Here are a few garments I have recently ordered for my upcoming photoshoot. With the the theme being glam and street I ried to get the mix of the two here are two garments I thought matched well with a leather max i dress and a sheer skirt.
HAIR STYLING
Now that I have a vision for my make-up I decided to go into choosing a few hairstyles I can try on my two models. With the hair being more on the glam side I decided to use the hair as a chance to bring out Denma’s side of things. My idea to bring this side of him to life is to focus on this street style and edgy look. When having a look around I saw a few looks that I thought would work perfectly. With the top middle look with the silver hair clips I saw this a street look but I thin this would go really well with the glam side of things too. To achieve this I intend to search for a load of clips and have my make-up/hair stylist to put this together. If this look is unavaliable I would like to try the space buns as for glam dresses this leaves the vollar bone free to show of some jewllery. For my second model I would like to go for the plaits or slick back as I gave recently ordered some sun glasses that would fit this looks perfectly. Obviously if anything needs altering I will have other options ready for the day.

SHOOT DAY BTS
Hitting shoot day I was worried to say the least! This was due to the fact my make-up artist/hair stylst car broke down the nght before we had planned to get the shoot done. Straight away I had to think about how I was going to get this model ready but, due to the mass of my planning I was prepared for anything. I had my self do the make up and luckily,my model was really good at stylng hair (my mood boards of what I wanted helping).
The main issue of this all was not only was I needing Milly to be there for make up and hair, but she was also the only way of getting to the location (Wrest park). With having live in a country side sort of area UBER was out of the question so, the shoot had to be done from home...
The morning of shoot day, once my model arrived we got all my tripodand camera set up and cleared a nice blank area (this silver walpaper the best I could find). Once i had my mood boards of what I needed of hair, styling, make up, and poses, we got cracking into makeing my model the face of the new BALENCIAGA.
Here on these pages, your able to see me dong the make up n my model as well as the set up of my tripod. We got verylucky with the lighting and didn’t need and extra big lights so, this was great for us as this almost felt like a last minuet shoot! After about two hours of mages, styling and posing I got some of the best images I’ve ever done and after the stress of the last minuet change I can 100% agree with ‘EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON’.
