Our Annual Skiing Holiday Livigno, Italy 2024
Introduction
In February 2024, my family and I traveled to Livigno (Italy) for our annual skiing holiday. Our close friends also joined us. I traveled all the way from Uzbekistan in central Asia to the mountains in Italy.
I will tell you about everything that happened, which includes our skiing experience, hanging out with my family and friends, and some unusual but funny experiences.
I took this picture on the drive to a restaurant one night on holiday.
Skiing Experience
Firstly, I am going to talk about what it is like to ski in Livigno. The difficulty of the slopes is quite challenging depending on the depth of the snow. Each day the snow gets deeper and deeper, which makes the skis difficult to control.
The landscape is enormous with gigantic mountains and the light is extremely bright and burns your eyes until it feels like you are blind. When we skied at night it was really amazing! Whilst you ski down the slopes, you can see in the distance, all the tiny houses with their lights shinning in the dark.
When I skied at night, I felt exhilarated because it made me feel free.
Here I am with my Dad, his best friend Dilmurod and his daughter Samira on the slopes
Next, I want to tell you about what it was like to travel with my family and friends.
We travelled from Uzbekistan to Istanbul where we transferred to Zurich, Switzerland. After arriving to Zurich airport, we flew to Livigno all the way by helicopter.
I have never flown in a helicopter before especially near the mountains. I felt so scared and excited at the same time. The reason I felt this way was because I could see the mountains below us and they were so close to the helicopter that I thought we might crash

The Hotel
The hotel we stayed in was gorgeous. In the reception area the couch was so soft and relaxing that you could barely stay awake. Also, the waiters were very nice and even offered my friend and I a cup of hot chocolate. The entire hotel was made out of wood that shone in the sun, and our bedrooms were luxurious.
I enjoyed travelling with my friends and family because we always have fun and never get bored.
Funny Moments
Finally, I want to tell you about some of the most hilarious things that happened on our holiday.
The top one was when my friends, family and I all fell over on the slopes. First, we were all skiing peacefully together, down the slope, but then suddenly I felt danger! Kaboom! I hit a bump in the snow which was invisible. Then I fell and rolled hard and fast. This was terrifying because I could barely stop myself rolling and even my skis snapped off. That said, no one was seriously hurt, and we still tried to laugh even though our butts hurt.
The second funny moment was when we were all standing on some ice outside on the street by a restaurant. When one person slipped, we all fell like dominoes. The ice felt like a cold freezing slide, and it was extremely painful because I hit my tailbone.
The last humorous moment was when everyone went to dinner at an Italian restaurant but unfortunately the waiter brought us the wrong food. In the beginning, my dad was furious and blamed the waiter. However, after the waiter showed us our receipt, we realised we were wrong and laughed.
In the end, we all shared the main dish, and even though it was the wrong food it was still delicious!
Despite that I was lucky to fly in a helicopter, I would not like to experience a helicopter ride again. That said, even though skiing on the slopes of Livigno was challenging and a bit scary, I really adored skiing at night.
I really enjoyed being with my family and friends on holiday because I never felt alone around them, and this made me feel fantastic.
I would love to stay again in the gorgeous mountain hotel in Livigno and hope in the future my family and I can return.
