Welcome Back Day

Tuesday, August 27TH

OPEN HOUSE

(agenda found inside) 2:00pm - 7:00pm

TEACHER MEET AND GREET 4:00pm - 7:00pm

The 2024-25 school year is almost upon us. You’re invited to join us on Tuesday, August 27th, for our annual back-to-school event. A special welcome to our incoming 6th-grade class and any new 7th and 8th grade students! We look forward to another great year at Chippewa Middle School and want to make the transition from summer break to back-toschool as easy as possible.

A parent or guardian must accompany all students. If you are unable to attend Welcome Back Day, you may pick up your student’s class schedule in the front ofce starting August 28th. Your student can plan to do picture retakes on Friday, September 27th.

WHAT’S NEW @ CHIPPEWA?

We have updated the online Chippewa Family handbook for the 24-25 school year. You will receive an email with a link to the CMS Family Handbook. This is an excellent resource for families and students to nd helpful information about our policies, daily schedule information, school calendar, event dates, staff directory, and so much more!

CHARGER TIME CHARGER TIME

Charger Time takes place most Wednesdays after period three for thirty minutes. These sessions are used to help students build positive peer connections and engage in community activities. Charger Time is designed to teach, model, and practice social skills that students will use in the school setting as well as when they are out in the community. Students will learn to intentionally set goals, develop a positive sense of self, acquire decision making techniques, and gain an understanding of how to manage conicts. Students will be able to check their StudentVUE accounts, make arrangements to make up missing work, and ensure that they are taking charge of the educational opportunities at Chippewa.

Welcome to the 24-25 school year! We hope your family is having a fun and relaxing summer! We are thrilled that your family will be with us for this school year. We have worked hard over the summer to be ready for our students! Once again this year, we will be sharing with students that we all "Take CHARGE of our Community" here at Chippewa by expressing the values of connection, honor, acceptance, reection, growth, and empathy. We believe in fostering a culture of kindness where each and every student grows academically, socially, and emotionally. We are so glad that our students get to be with us during their precious middle school years. We promise to support them and encourage them as they learn and grow. We will see you in person soon!

You should have received an email with specic bus registration instructions for your child for the upcoming school year. If you have yet to receive an email from transportation, please email the transportation department at transportation@moundsviewschools.org.

State law requires public school districts to provide free transportation to all students living two miles or more from their school. Mounds View Public Schools meets this requirement and offers a fee-for-service option. Students who do not live in the “walk area” and reside less than two miles from their school have the option for bus service by paying a fee. A “walk area” is less than one mile for secondary school students.

Can my child ride home with a friend or use another bus stop?

No. Students can only ride their scheduled bus and must get on and off at their stop.

Does my child need to keep the bus pass all year?

Yes. Please have your child keep the pass in their backpack. Bus passes are helpful for substitute and activity bus drivers at the secondary level.
