Amid a decline in paper book readership in favour of digital media consumption, there remain people who prefer the warm touch of paper over the cold touch of electronic devices for several reasons. Nonetheless, as time progresses, one cannot obstruct the pursuit of time and the inevitable advancement of technology. Although this contributes to many reasons not to read paper books, one significant contemporary impediment to traditional reading habits is the abundance of distractions. According to a Dusit poll in 2020, Thai individuals engage in twelve alternative activities more frequently than reading during their leisure time. This has resulted in the disposal of over 100,000 books annually in Bangkok alone, prompting the question, “How can architecture reconnect people with literature, particularly older texts, thereby fostering a thriving community of book enthusiasts in Thailand?”
The chosen site for this endeavour is the historical location of the Bamrungnukunkit printing house, renowned as one of Siam's pioneering printing establishments and innovators in letterpress technology. The project aims to recreate the ambiance of the site's past while adapting the spatial use to contemporary user behaviours. This synthesis is achieved through the implementation of Thai letterpress concepts into both functional spaces and façade design, complemented by the predominant use of corten steel in the construction of new buildings.
Furthermore, the architectural programs revolve around the idea of integrating literature with modern lifestyle activities that currently compete for people's leisure time. This approach seeks to encourage individuals to rediscover their passion for reading and reconnect with classic literary works, all while accommodating their current lifestyle preferences, thus prospering the reading community in Thailand.
There are 5 main buildings including Bamrungnukunkit exhibition(2), archive(3), workshops(4), entertainment(5), and lobby&temporary exhibtion(1) respectively arranged clockwised. The site can be accessed from the west(main) and south(sub) entrances. Basement parking accomodates up to 32 cars and can be accessed to the underground archive building(2), exposing the journey of rare books, starts from funeral books, governement books, forbidden books, fashion magazines, illustration books, and cookbooks respectively, or vice versa from the ground floor. The archive building also includes the exposing book restoration workshop for users to observe, and also the private collector’s library on the 2nd floor, allowing the collectors to occasionally open their collections to public.
The Bamrungnukunkit exhibition building(3) includes permanent exhibition of the community and old printing house, together with the book auction space on the 2nd floor. The workshop building(4) includes variety of lifestyle workshops; book, clothing, and art reproduction workshops, together with showcase area on the 2nd floor. The entertainment building(5) includes 2 main relaxing space; mini theaters, and test kitchen, surrounding a small picnic garden, thereby allowing users to socialize within this space. The lobby building(6) includes information area and temporary exhibition, together with the performance garden which connects all the main buildings together; Bamrungnukunkit exhibition, archive, and lobby.
The first configuration of facade includes the use of louvers at the the spacer/column, thereby emphasizing the old language that derives from the old printing house. Furthermore, the letter space can also be open to enhance the interaction to the ground-floor performance garden at the front.
The second configuration of facade includes the use of foldable louvers at the letter space, allow the users to adjust the level of ventilation and visual exposure to outside, thus creating a ryhthmically dynamic use of interior space for each workshops.

How can modern technologies improve old shophouses?
This project intigrates the principle of “auto part” found at the site as a part of the renovation. A “part” suggests a larger system which can be broken down into modularity of functions, and the process that can be broken down into multiple steps. The shift to a modularized architecture as a result of standardization of parts allows increasing in flexibility and ability to meet user’s specific needs. The part can be extended the life of the whole as it is replaceable. This idea is implemented with the existing shophouses, it will be able to accommodate new programs, provide better living environment, support the growth of the neighborhood, as well as to improve energy efficiency for the existing buildings.
As for the architectural quality, the integration of “parts” into the shophouse also aims to increase its capacity and comfort conditions while maintaining local life in the historic neighborhood of Talad Noi.

: Sinthao Saltmaking & Learning Center - Nan, Thailand
What happened to the saltmaking herritage in Nan province?
According the historical to modern situation of Bo-Kluea Sinthao salt, people in the past tend to advertise their salt product through the buying and selling method while nowadays the value of the salt is not as precious anymore. This lessen the income of people in this community to drop to the poverty level, which effects less people to be saltmakers, and the worst may results the herritage to start to disappear.
Therefore, the suitable method to pass through the herritage would be by bringing in tourist and raising awareness of the product to boost the economy of this community while still accomodates their salt making process, through the designing of a Sinthao-salt learning center
How can architecture help re-ignite the interest in sinthao salt and also improve the income of saltmakers?

Museum of Moken Culture
Architectural Design for Moken People 2022

Cultural Disappearance of Moken People?
In the past, Moken people used Kha Bang boat as their homes to travel to island around this area during dry season (December to April). In the rainy season (May to December), they would stay in their temporary home/shelter in the non-ventilating bay. The selecting of suitable bay to stay during rainy season is mostly on the east of the island (to avoid wind from Andaman sea on the west). The location must have fresh water area near the beach, and having adequate slope to moor or sail the boats.
However, the technological advancement has changed the way Moken people live, by preferring to built permanent houses along the bay and spend less (and possibly even lesser) time on sailing in the sea. This has affected in the concerns of the potential disapearance of their precious culture.
With the area accomodate up to 50% of the total Moken population in Thailand, together with the good accesibility and being the last Moken community to not be heavily affected by the modern technology, Phayam island has been selected to be the site for this project. This aims to create a museum as an appreciation of their herritage to be passed over for their children and encourage visitors to recognize the Moken way of living.

Sharing space (Space for all)
Located in Berlin, Germany, Grundschule auf der Museumsinsel (the primary school of the museum island) offers a solution to the concern of students with disabilities as well as other related special-need students. A common way to sent their kids to the school in Germany is that they would choose the school with less students with disabilities to “ensure” the quality of learning. Meanwhile, many schools are initially designed as a defalt to accomodate a majority of students with no limitations, either physically or mentally, and segregate “other” students to the special-need school system. Therefore, there has been a question regarding this matter of how can all students be able to respectfully live together in the society when there is already a segregation from the start of their educational system; primary schools.
Architecture to provide sharing space of expression of people from all backgrounds
Starting from Childhood
Inclusive Study
The idea is to create an inclusive space which accomodates students with various types of need eg. students with disabilities and other special-need students. The design has 3 main spaces including segregation unit for individual or class activites(3), cluster connection for the interaction of students from different class(2), and the inclusive gather space(1) as a goal for students to achieve the skill sets of co-living with different tyoes of people in the society.

: Recreational Park - Bangkok, Thailand
Landscape and Urban Design Competition to Re-utilize Waste Space Underneath Highway
In Bangkok, Pracha-u-thit road is now facing the problem of inefficient footpaths which leads to the unpleasant experience visually and physically. Along with the hot-and-humid weather, people start to avoid using walkways and move to the road instead, which causes the traffic to be crowded every morning and evening.
Therefore, in recent years, Thailand has been trying to increase the quantitative capability to accommodate cars and motorcycles on the road while paying less attention to the quality of foot transportation alongside. Therefore, this project aims to improve the quality of experience and the environment around footpaths in Pracha-u-thit road to encourage people to walk within 15 minutes.
People in Pracha-u-thit road who work in the middle of Bangkok usually travel back-and-forth to their workplaces via buses at the Km-9 bus station under the expressway. However, there is a struggle in which the main path, under the expressway, to the bus station does not accommodate their walks by having a dim atmosphere and disorganising space.
