Reimagination and renovation of our ER. The Emergency Room (ER) at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, the flagship hospital of Children’s HealthSM, was built in 1967 when the population was around 570,000, and it was renovated in 1990. Today, North Texas is home to more than 7 million people.

It’s no wonder we’ve become one of the busiest pediatric ERs in the nation with around 122,000 visits yearly and as many as 400 children seen daily during the winter months.

That’s why it’s so imperative that we undergo a complete overhaul and

Changes that make a difference.

To be certified as a Level I Trauma Center, an ER must offer a full range of care 24/7, 365 days a year. Children’s Medical Center Dallas provides a multidisciplinary team specially trained in pediatrics to manage any severe or life-threatening injury that a child may face – anytime.

Upgrades

Being the only pediatric Level I Trauma Center in the area and with the continual increases in ER utilization, we are often at physical capacity. Expansion and modernization is necessary to keep up with the ever-growing needs of our community, especially during the busy winter months when kids are more likely to contract contagious diseases like flu and RSV. We must be ready to care for the children of tomorrow. The new ER advances we’re proposing will only further our capabilities and help ensure we can treat increasingly complex cases – from complicated injuries to asthma to mental health.
