KYPHON Balloon Kyphoplasty ®
A New Approach to Treating Vertebral Compression Fractures
Balloon Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive treatment for spinal fractures designed to reduce the fracture and correct vertebral body deformity. A small orthopaedic balloon is guided into the vertebral body.
The balloon is inflated to gently elevate the collapsed vertebral body back toward its normal shape.
The balloon is then deflated and removed leaving a cavity within the vertebral body.
Although the complication rate with KYPHON® Balloon Kyphoplasty has been demonstrated to be low, as with most surgical procedures, there are risks associated with the procedure, including serious complications.
