Sathurday the 1st of February 08:00Pm A.J.O.E. - Lorient With the generosity of député of St. Martin & St. Barthélemy Daniel Gibbs and Raymond Magras Roland Guerin, Double Bass - Sean Ardoin, Accordion - Derek Douget, Saxophone - Chris Adkins, Guitare - Aaron Goldberg, Piano - Joe Dyson, Percussion This dynamic group is performing a particular new style of Zydeco music, one with a Jazz twist. Most of the players are from the Baton Rouge - New Orleans area and bring with them a distinct variation of the folk music. Zydeco translates from the creole phrase “leh-zy-dee-co nay sohn pah salay” and the genre has become synonymous with the Louisiana region. Zydeco is usually a fast tempo and is a synthesis of Creole music, Cajun influences, R&B, blues and gospel. Today, this Jump Up! concept is heard on most Caribbean islands for social events held informally at house dances and family gatherings. Get up and dance ! With the generosity of Dantes & Maria Magras

John Ellis Jazz Quartet Sunday the 2nd of February 05:00PM Anglican Church – Gustavia With the generosity of Flunison Foundation – Mary & Hugh III Wise John Ellis, Saxophone - Joe Dyson, Percussion - Aaron Goldberg, Piano - Reuben Rogers, Contrebasse Over the last two decades John Ellis, Aaron Goldberg, Reuben Rogers, and Joe Dyson have been touring and recording together in various configurations. In the years since their meeting they have frequently teamed up on a variety of projects, often under each other’s leadership. Aaron has played on four of John’s recordings, John often plays in Reuben’s touring band, and Reuben plays bass in Aaron’s working trio. A few of the quartet’s collaborative efforts include “By A Thread” (John Ellis), “The Things I Am” (Reuben Rogers), and “Home” (Aaron Goldberg). John and Aaron also co-produced the music for the wildly popular children’s book series “Baby Loves Jazz”. Young Joe Dyson, the group’s newest member, has recently been working in John’s touring group, and has made a name for himself in the groups of Alvin Batiste, Donald Harrison and Dr. Lonnie Smith.
