CHICKEN SMOOTHIE HIGHLIGHTS
IIt’s officially August, and we are looking back on the fun that was July! It was a pretty busy month for everybody, as we had Art Fight wrapping up for our more creative readers, and the CS Summer Event started as well! This year, the CS Staff have decided on the theme “Wild West,” and now that it’s come to an end, I think we can all agree that we needed some Western pets and items in our lives Every single design was an absolute masterpiece, and it’s always our favorite seeing the community come alive for the event.
In other news, we’ve also gotten some new Store Pets! Designed by the talented ~Trompy, which features Ostriches! Notably, despite PPS store pets normally being a bundle purchase exclusive, you can buy this baby Ostrich separately! The CS user base was fed well this month, that’s for sure!
If you haven’t gathered yet, our main focus will be our newest Wild West event, and we’re interviewing a user you may be familiar with. Our one hint is that they have a crazy collection!

CS FUN FACT
Did you know that there was once a growing item? In 2009, to celebrate Hanukkah, there was a Menorah item released If you put it on a pet during the event, the amount of candles would increase each day! Here’s to hoping they bring that mechanic back, as it was very unique in terms of what items normally do!

ART NEWS
As August has begun, Art Fight has ended. We got to see so many beautiful pieces of art, as many Chicken Smoothie users actually used Chicken Paint to create their attacks and defenses! CS’s Oekaki section was absolutely blooming with art and art discussion during July, and it was lovely to see the community thrive. We hope that anyone who participated had fun this year!
Additionally, we’d like to shout out a very creative user who has made many fun pieces for the community to edit. That user is Loeyla! She recently made a gorgeous “Make An Old West Badge!” editable, where you can customize and make your own badge and hat! She‘s made so many other “build-your-own” editables, whether it’s character makers, object makers, or one you might see in people’s signatures often: a friendship bracelet maker!
It’s always so great to see users contributing to the community in such an interactive way, especially in such a fun way! So we thank Loelya for their contributions, and even several of our staff members here at the CSN have made their own versions from these editables, they’re so fun!
TRADE NEWS
This month, our most prevalent topic will be this year’s Summer Event! The theme chosen this year was “Wild West,” which was what a large portion of the user base was hoping for! Due to this, we saw that despite pets generally having the higher ground in demand, both pets and items had very similar demand with the exception of a couple outliers. Most notably, a lot of users were excited to create dressups for western based video games such as “Red Dead Redemption,” or for popular singers such as Beyoncé or Chappell Roan, who have recently worn Western apparel
Some of the notable outliers of the Summer Event are the Root beer pets. These pets are some that can be won at random through the Saloon minigame, in which you have to knock down cans or bottles. However, the reason this can be tricky or even frustrating is because it is entirely up to random chance. Meaning no matter what kind of strategy you have, you still might not get a pet for your efforts In turn, this means that the two pets that you are able to receive from this minigame are a Root beer themed dog, or a Root beer float cup. They had massive demand during the event, and people have made hundreds of C$ off them despite their value being a mere fraction of that. Luckily, as the event progressed, the demand was slowly falling and more people are naturally achieving the two pets.
Overall, we saw love for all the Wild West pets equally, and while values increasing due to FOMO is always an issue no matter which event, it seems to be slowing down now that event comes to a close.
SPECIAL FEATURE ARTICLE: THE WILD WEST
For this year’s Summer Vacation, Avian and Totoro have traveled to the Wild West of Chicken Smoothie! In this event, we got to explore a small town in the west, and traveled into the outskirts to explore. Once we arrived in town, we were shocked to see that a windstorm had blown the Pony Express mail around the entire town! Major, the Post Officer, asked for our help collecting mail (which we discovered were this year’s main tokens). Delivering them to residents may result in a gift as thanks!
However, it came to our attention that this town also had another problem, with bandits under the name of the “Reckless Riders” causing trouble. Tools and materials were disappearing, and making Flux the Blacksmith’s job a whole lot harder as he was trying to repair the Train!
SPECIAL FEATURE ARTICLE: THE WILD WEST
Despite the Reckless Riders briefly taking over the saloon, as well as stealing horses, Earp the Sheriff didn’t seem to be doing much about it. Suddenly, the Sheriff went missing, and the Reckless Riders took over the office. With haste, search parties went out looking for the missing Sheriff, and after searching the train, we began to learn more about the troubling group of bandits hassling us.
The Reckless Riders invited us to learn about their motives and find the Sheriff, and hesitantly, we agreed. It turns out the Reckless Riders were less nefarious than others saw them as, and the hijinks they committed were only to see if the Sheriff would take action, but alas, they didn’t Before becoming Sheriff, Earp was once a Reckless Rider. They used to consider him a friend and an equal, but he betrayed a member of their group for money even though many members were wanted for crimes they didn’t commit.
For this crime, the Reckless Riders confronted the Sheriff and locked him up While that had been going on, Flux was able to repair the Train! As the event came to a close, the town celebrated with a dance.
WHO IS JACOB?
AN INTERVIEW WITH: JACOB
Jacob is well known in the CS community for many things, but the most prevalent one is their expansive collections for both pets and items! As of recently, they went above and beyond a complete collection, and was the first user in history to ever trade for a CS Custom that didn’t belong to them (other people do own customs that aren’t theirs, but they are almost always gifts, not trades). Today, we are talking to them about CS’s trade economy, community, and what it’s like to achieve such a massive goal on CS!
How did you discover Chicken Smoothie?
“I found out about CS on a forum called “The Bell Tree Forums,” which is an Animal Crossing forum, and I saw people were offsiting from a site called CS, and decided to check it out. Long story short, I was hooked instantly and ended up offsiting to CS instead eventually, haha.”
So as most people know, you’re a pretty avid collector and have a sizable collection. What first got you started in that? Did you go for pets or items first?
“It started in early 2018 when I really got into collecting I wasn't a fan of trying to trade up pets and saw C$ as a good alternative to getting pets I wanted I started actively selling any pets I didn't want for C$ and then using that C$ to buy pets for my collection Store pets really stood out to me since they will never come back to the shop or will ever be rereleased in any way, so I just started collecting all of those and then I collected URs right after Later, I went for an item collection after someone traded me angel wings for a bit of C$, and I got hooked on that It wasn't until 2022 when I decided to pursue a full pet collection after already having all the stores and URs, completing that on my birthday in 2023 ”
AN INTERVIEW WITH: JACOB,
How has it been since then in terms of maintaining a full collection? Is it still fun to upkeep, or is it a chore?
“Maintaining the collection is not as bad as it sounds believe it or not. The biggest thing you need to worry about is the new URs every year, but if you can handle that, then it’s a piece of cake.”
What is the best thing on CS? How about the worst?
“I think the best thing about CS doubles as the worst: the community I love the CS community and all the connections I’ve made over the years, but sometimes the trading CS community can get a bit much, even for me, haha ”
What is one thing you would change about CS if you could? And on the flip side of that, what’s one thing you would add?
“Hmm, that's a tough one. I think I would love to change how ninja traders are dealt with on CS. I feel like they can get away with so much while absolutely destroying someone's experience of the game.
I would add Malk linearts back on the menu, hahah. No, but seriously I'd love to see more dynamic line arts used for monthly adopts and Malk has so many that go unused these days, I feel like it'd be the perfect choice.”
Who are you outside of CS?
“I'm no one particularly exceptional outside of CS. Just your average everyday 9-5 worker (overnight though). I occasionally dabble in other games, especially Monster Hunter and Pokémon. I also play a bit of piano!”

What are your favorite pets on CS? (Other than your custom)
“My favorite pet and one of my first expensive hoards would have to be the White Feb There's something so beautiful about the simplicity of them and the fact that they're so easy to dress up, haha ”
What are your thoughts on hoards and their controversial status?
“I am absolutely in support of any kind of hoard, expensive or not, as long as the pets were traded for fairly ”
Next, let’s talk about notable items and pets you have! I know you’ve babysat rare pets, items such as customs, and rare items as well. I’d love to hear more about those experiences!
“Oh absolutely. So before I even traded for Lizardscale, gay (previously cervas) let me babysit his custom pet houki and also his semi custom rainbow smoothie item. I was really grateful because I felt like such a super star even though the pet and item didn't belong to me, haha. About 4 months ago I was given the opportunity to trade for a custom pet I could call my own from a friend who was looking to offsite to another site, and that's how I was able to obtain Lizardscale!” (Author’s note: Jacob paid a whopping 40 Nons for her!!)

What’s your fondest CS memory?
“My fondest memory is actually a recent one It was finally completing my full pet collection on my birthday of last year, which was on Dec 27th! A very good friend of mine by the name of himarry 124 gifted me the last 2 pets I needed, which was the Sunback and UR Flower Dragon ”
If you could give one piece of advice to CS players, what would it be?
“Hmmm, I suppose it’d be that when it comes to trading, patience is key. Sometimes it can be hard or even frustrating to trade, but as long as you keep your head up and keep trading, you can definitely achieve that dreamie you’ve always wanted!”
Who are some users on CS that have made your experience better?
“Let’s see, I might have way too many to list here but some notable ones would be skelliursa, who was one of my first friends on CS and helped tremendously when I was collecting store pets and URs back in 2018/2019 himarry 124, as I mentioned earlier, helped me find and trade for a lot of pets I needed to complete my pet collection. Uh, Tif + Jo also gifted me a good chunk of the under omgsorares I needed, and then a user by the name of y. .u also helped out by gifting and trading me so many of the harder to obtain omgsorares and other high lists. I absolutely treasure all of my CS friends, and I could honestly write a 100 page paper on how they all encouraged and lifted me up throughout the years, but for now I just want them to know how much I value them and how much of a privilege it is to have known and created a bond with them!”
Are there any other pet sites you enjoy playing on?
“I dabble a little bit on Pokéarm Q and a new one that’s still in alpha called Santae, but CS is and will always be my main pet site, haha.”

What are your thoughts on the CS economy as a whole and the direction it’s been going?
“I'll be completely honest here, I'm afraid of the direction it's been heading in the past year or so, heck maybe even since like 2020. I feel like every time someone happens to overpay for a pet it becomes the new standard price instead of looking at it as an outlier, and then the price gets higher and higher until people just aren't willing to pay the price that it's at anymore (examples include Raven, Dragoncat PPS, and August PPS to name a few). C$ can get a bit tricky since personally I don't have a hard time obtaining it, but it can be hard to find people who want it for higher value pets. I can understand overpaying, but I'm not a fan of seeing 0.5 MA pets be priced at 1-2 MAs in C$. Store pets are also a slippery slope since they can never come back. Their value, it’s bound to rise, but I can't wrap my head around wanting to charge 23 times what a store pet was in the shop after only 2 months of it being out of the shop. As I mentioned earlier, ninjaing/scamming can really bring down anyone's experience on CS, and I wish there were more precautions or more severe punishments to discourage it from happening in the future. All in all, I think the economy is hard to control, but I wish it wasn't as difficult of a learning curve for people who don't trade a lot or newer players getting into the game.”
