WELCOME TO THE 2015 CHICAGO FRINGE FESTIVAL! Welcome to the SIXTH annual Chicago Fringe Festival - our third in Jefferson Park! Once again we are leaping into the Fringe fray with 192 performances of 46 shows in 5 venues. Over 100 volunteers will work tirelessly to make Fringe magic happen. And thousands of patrons will join in the mayhem to create a vibrant, eclectic and unforgettable festival. Some describe the Chicago Fringe Festival as an intense summer camp for arts enthusiasts. Others have said it was like a Choose Your Own Theatrical Adventure. Whatever Fringe means to you, I hope you make the most of it! I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to you - whether you be an artist, patron, festival volunteer, sponsor, donor or member of our incredible yearround staff, together we are making something really special happen. We are all united in our commitment to creating and celebrating an uncensored and unjuried space for local and non-local artists to perform while also returning 100% of the ticket sales to the artists. And this year, we expand our programming offerings with Kids Fringe - which will provide a family friendly element each weekend of the festival. Thank you for joining our CFF community. We could not do this without you. I hope you also join us at a Town Hall on Sept 12 in Jeff Park or Sept 21 in Pilsen to discuss our future. What should a Fringe Festival in Chicago be? What could we look like in another five years. We want to hear your thoughts! But most of all, I hope that you will take a risk this year. Try something different and new. Every 1.5 hours you have the chance to go a different adventure during this festival. Enjoy! Anne Cauley Executive Director

GET LOST IN THE FRINGE We had been living in a hotel room for two months. It was August 2013, and my partner and I had been relegated to a small (albeit practicable) room for eight weeks while our condo was renovated after a disaster. I will spare you the details. Looking back, things really weren’t that bad and we were lucky to have good insurance. But while it was happening, we were a wreck. The point is, more than any other year, the 2013 Fringe became a safe haven for us; a place to escape and allow performance art to rehabilitate our sore souls. The community that is Fringe – the volunteers, theater goers, old friends, and new acquaintances - reenergized us. The Festival became a bastion of art, friendship, and enjoyment beyond what it had meant to us in the past; we allowed ourselves to get lost in the dizzying array of spectacle. This year, I encourage you to do the same: Get Lost. Leave your regular life outside and surrender to the magic that is Fringe. Strike up a conversation at Fringe Central to get the low-down on shows, share a day at Kid’s Fringe with some little ones (or big ones with littler sympathies), go see a show based on title alone, and, when you need a breather, just grab a beer and watch the Festival unwind around you. As the Festival grows, Jeff Park continues to be a welcoming and wonderful home. Our community of supporters, sponsors, and donors continues to expand each year. We are working to bring even bigger improvements to the Fest through a comprehensive strategic planning process - don’t miss your chance to have your voice heard at our next Town Hall. And we still give 100% of the ticket revenue to the performers (to date, that’s about $147,000). We believe that Chicago deserves a theatre festival with artists from all over the world who might not otherwise have a chance to share their talents and stories. If you agree, we need your help. While you get lost in Fringe wonder, I invite you to join our growing community and make a donation today. Whether this is your first Fringe or you’re someone who has bought unlimited ticket packs for each Festival, I encourage you to take advantage of all that Fringe has to offer. On behalf of the entire Board, I welcome you. We’re glad you’re here. Now Get Lost. Spreading sugar all around, Justin Fyala Board President BOARD PRESIDENT LETTER

This confluence of unfortunate events prompts him to call this audience together so he can air out his troubles.
