Online child sexual exploitation and abuse is an escalating problem that is alarmingly underreported. Child Helpline International calls for greater alignment and consistency in terminology and classification, leading to greater understanding of the true nature and extent of the problem and enhancing the ability of child helplines to respond. We call for national awareness-raising activities and emphasize the need for and importance of data, and the key role of child helplines in capturing such data.
Most importantly the report is a call to action for governments and others to better support child helplines and ensure that child helplines are a central and integral part of every country’s response to this growing, complex problem.
