As a response to the growing concern for a circular economy; this 1:1 scale architectural fragment aims to provoke a re-imagining of waste materials in construction. The fragment’s design takes advantage of the inherent waste materials’ structural and aesthetic qualities. The fragment functions as a source of inspiration for an architectural language, or concept. In specific, this Fragment is composed of a leaf and a shutter connected through a pulley system, creating an environmental response. Wind provokes the leaf closing the shutters.
