I have selected the historic industrial town of Blaydon-On-Tyne as my focal point located 6.1 miles to the west of Newcastle. A location rich with industrial heritage. My intention is to delve into a specific area within this town, one that continues to host a myriad of industries. Through a contemporary lens, I aim to reimagine these industries and their relevance in the present day. To achieve this, I will conduct a comprehensive urban analysis of the neighborhood, examining its contextual intricacies, physical attributes, and inherent character. This exploration has guided me to pinpoint a potential project site spanning approximately 13 hectares. This designated area will serve as the canvas for my design intervention, where I will endeavor to integrate modern perspectives while respecting the historical backdrop and industrial identity of the town.
Within this scope, my primary focus will be on the well-being of the individuals working within these industries. Functionally, guided by the proposed site area, I will delineate the areas earmarked for transformation and discern which industries will be retained. This intervention aims to balance preservation and progress, ensuring that the site evolves without compromising its core identity while simultaneously catering to the needs and wellness of the
