Much of the day’s action would take place up the road at the Bay Bridge Marina’s check-in station, where many of the participants gathered before and after fishing, but the Lightner family’s group and I were going out on Sadler’s custom built deadrise fishing boat out of Kentmoor, adjacent to some the Chesapeake’s most fertile fishing grounds. Sadler is a third-generation Eastern Shore waterman, and, having worked on the Bay for over 40 years, he knows the best sites and techniques to guide a successful day of fishing. Within five minutes of the first cast, Bailey was reeling in her first fish of the day. Bailey is a fifth-grader with two younger sisters—Becca and Brennan—and a passion for horses. She raises chickens, enjoys photography and loves watching movies. She’s a basketball fan. She
