We have a world-wide network of franchised Certified Birth ROCKS® Academy Mentor’s, each extensively trained and mentored in their chosen field. The bespoke courses we offer, guide parents through the birth and arrival of their new baby using realistic, evidence based and bespoke techniques which are applicable to everyone, but customised to the individual.

How did Birth ROCKS begin?

Cheryl MacDonald is a yoga elder, antenatal educator, author of the best-selling Birth ROCKS® book and mother of one. The Birth ROCKS® Academy began as a result of the work she was doing with women in her role as a prenatal yoga and birth hypnosis teacher and as founder of the YogaBellies franchise. Cheryl found that she wanted to spend more time talking to women at class about birth and babies and how giving birth can be the most amazing experience of your life. She felt that she couldn’t do this as much as she wanted to when teaching yoga and felt constrained by the limitations of birth hypnosis. From these holistic roots and Cheryl’s belief that every birth is unique and that every mother, baby and birth should be treated as such, the Birth ROCKS® Academy began…

The Birth ROCKS Academy® has now grown to include a training faculty and Mentors with a wealth of experience, including yoga mentors, doctors, midwives, massage therapists and chiropractors. There are now over 100 Birth ROCKS trained teachers across the world and continuing to grow. Cheryl believes that every stage of a woman’s life should be an exciting, empowering and spiritual experience. It is her hope that as a Certified Birth ROCKS® Academy Mentor, you will share our vision of gently guiding women through these special times.

Cheryl has worked with birthing women across the world including Kimberley Walsh from Girls Aloud, using Birth ROCKS methods to help her and her birth partner Justin prepare for childbirth.

When you sign up for BRA training, you automatically become a Registered BRA Mentor with your first years subscription included. This costs an absolutely teeny £60 per annum thereafter with no obligation to renew. Birth ROCKS Training YogaBellies Birth ROCKS® Mentors guide parents through a peaceful pregnancy and help them prepare for birth through our fun, inspiring birth preparation sessions.

Birth ROCKS® is a complete and comprehensive childbirth educator qualification approved and accredited by IAPP (International Alliance of Perinatal Professionals) and the IPTI. The course also has the highly acclaimed Birth ROCKS® birth preparation book by the same name to accompany your parents’ journey.

We approach birth with the belief that one size does not fit all and we support parents on their journey through pregnancy and birth. Birth ROCKS® is the only customized child birth preparation programme currently available and makes comfortable, joyful birthing a reality for mum and her birth partner.

As a Birth ROCKS Mentor, you will train in all the important aspects of antenatal education and birth preparation facilitations including: Birth ROCKS Mentoring and Communication Skills Your guide to working with and mentoring parents through the pregnancy and birth journey. This module introduces you to the Birth ROCKS concept and methods and guides you personally on your journey to becoming a Registered Birth ROCKS Mentor.

We keep you up to date with our national campaigns and you can catch up with BRA mentors in your local area using our forums too.

Active Birth: Looking at mother’s health, well-being and comfort during pregnancy and birth and actively preparing for birth using bespoke Birth ROCKS techniques prescribed by you, for mum as an individual.

Physical Birth: The anatomy and physiology of conception, pregnancy and birth. What happens on a physical level including normal birth, different birthing styles and locations, care providers, interventions, pain medications, special circumstances and pros and cons and recent studies on all of these aspects of birth.

Spiritual Birth: Birth in cultures around the world and in history and the ‘birth’ of fear, the role of hypnosis for pregnancy and birth, releasing your fears of labour and parenting, deep relaxation techniques including body scan mindfulness of breathing, creating your birth space, the role of the birth companion, bonding with baby in utero.

Birth ROCKS Mentoring Skills: We look at the Birth ROCKS concept as a whole and why this is different from other birth education and mentoring approaches. This modules also helps you set up and structure your Birth ROCKS sessions in a style that is personal to you. We guide you on the journey from trainee to Birth ROCKS Mentor on your path to helping parents have the birth they hope for.

Baby ROCKS Training Baby ROCKS® are our NEW parent craft classes which arm parents with knowledge and improve the wellbeing of both parents and baby, following the arrival of their gorgeous new-born. Our Baby ROCKS® workshops provide information to empower parents and allow them to take joy in providing for their own and their baby’s needs at this special time.

Baby ROCKS® will help to build parents confidence help them to make informed choices in caring for their baby. Baby ROCKS® makes sure that the transition to parenthood to be as stress free as possible. Baby ROCKS® was written by our RGNM (Registered Nurse Midwife) and Birth ROCKS® Mentor Nicola Bradley and is accredited by IAPP and the IPTI. Baby ROCKS® is an excellent follow on from Birth ROCKS® and continues your role as Mentor during the journey through parenthood, working with parents after baby has arrived. Birth ROCKS Massage (pregnancy massage) Training Birth ROCKS Massage Therapist training has been designed to teach qualified therapists to work with pregnant & post natal women and offer them comfort and re-assurance during their pregnancy and beyond. The aim of our training is to

Birth ROCKS Angel Certification Our Birth ROCKS® Angel package is our package for those who wish to offer a complete birth and baby mentoring and care package for mummies and will be awarded the title, Birth ROCKS® Angel. When can I start to offer my birth services?

You can start to practise as a trainee Mentor whenever you feel comfortable. Your insurance will cover trainee teaching and also after your training is complete.

Grants If you live in Scotland you may be eligible for a Skills Development Scotland flexible learning grant, which will pay up to 50% of your course fees. Follow this link to find out more. It is up to you to look into this yourself and we cannot be involved in this.
