TRAVELS IN A PARALLEL REALITY This adventure attempts to superimpose two seemingly unrelated realities together, to displace one from their current environment by being transported into the hyperreality of another space time as another persona within the environment.

In a dense urban city, where land is scarce and spaces are designed for efficiency to reap commercial rewards and profits, do we still leave space to slow down to breathe?

Buildings everywhere and land is rarely bare, where did all the space between go?

This speculation is looking in the past to design for the future, where spaces were more casual and slow, and filled with delight. Cherishing its value to bring it into the current state of things to meet the present needs for the future, the design provides an informal space for casual activities in this loose space of slowness in a very unforgiving urban environment.

From large loose spaces to private intimate nooks, the design has the potential to rejuvenate and reignite the spirit of community and life that was once present in Great World.

The meandering pathways and overall circulation of the area allow for ample space to loiter and engage in conversation with one another as well as others around the park.

Along the meandering paths, a skate park and rock wall attracts different interest groups and demographics to intermingle and build the community spirit once apparent in Great World.

THE GROWING SOLITARY HAVEN

VILLAGERS & THEIR DWELLING Guided by Habitus, Nature and Form we were tasked to design a dwelling for an individual persona, catering to his personailty and lifestyle.

The brief explores the ways in which the villlager goes about his daily life, designing a dwelling catered to suit his personalities as he eats, sleeps, works and interacts with the people in his community.

‘Haven’, defined to be a place of safety or refuge encapsullates what the dwelling provides for the villager according to his habitus and needs.

Nature plays a significant role in the narrative surrounding the haven where trees are scattered. As a ‘solitary child’, growing is a part of life and so the architecture growing together with the trees allows for coexistence between nature and the haven.

The villager’s introverion beneath an extroverted facade built around him gives rise to intimate and personal spaces within the dwelling. He finds solitude and comfort in the solitary hideaway underground, hidden from passer-bys.

NYP SIMULATION CENTRE

HEALTHCARE SIMULATION CENTRE This aim of this project was to create a more condusive and engaging learning environment for the students and staff at NYP’s School of Health and Social Sciences Simulation Centre.

Using User Experience and Journey Mapping methodology, we were able to empathise and understand the needs of the users. Through space reconfiguration and innovative ideation of a more effective use of space, we achieved the design goals and met the expectations of the client.

With limited space and challenging existing site conditions to work with, strategic planning and zoning of areas had to be done to achieve a smooth and efficient overall circulation and transition between public and private areas.

SUSTAINABLE BUILDING DESIGN The design of the learning resource centre aims to be an environmentally friendly campus catered to upper and lower secondary school students that utilizes the natural surroundings and factors as much as possible via the zero net energy building approach.

Using site analysis softwares and tools to generate data and useful information, we were able to achieve a green and sustainable building. design.

Situated along the coastline of Singapore, the building has access to natural site elements such as the cool sea breeze, natural daylighting, and a nearby stream flowing through the campus. This project will utilise both passive and active design strategies to harness hydro, wind and solar energy to generate electricity to power the building.

The overhang of the roof and the amphitheater provides constant and sufficient shade for the building and its occupants, maintaining thermal comfort. This shows that the building is able to shade away from the afternoon glaring sun.

The campus property constitutes a self-contained area that supports habitats for local flora and fauna. The proximity and beauty of the natural setting have become linked to one of the school’s educational missions, to encourage students to connect with and learn from the natural environment around them.

Connections between the indoors and outdoors are strengthened through the use of outdoor educational spaces and outdoor circulation between the buildings.

MODERN ETHNIC ARCHITECTURE The objective of this proposal is to develop a modern architecture structure with an ethnic façade of an Italianate bungalow with enhanced interior. The luxurious housing estate will have 5 Italianate bungalows on a wide open field.

Junior Suite Loft

The exterior facade is made of white clapboard and oak flooring while Italianate homes are. Coming up the grand driveway, it rounds a fount with shrubs surrounding it. Cornices line the underside of the overha are designed to be arched as well as several openings with lintel bric Night Exterior View

The junior suite lofts at level 2 has bay windows and a half level within the room, to read a book and relax while looking out to the greenery around through the arched window top. These three lofts are lighted by cove lighting.

Circling up round the grand spiral staircase, bottom to top curtain walls allows sunlight to penetrate through and a magnificent view of the greenery. At the top of the lookout, one will be presented with a panoramic birds eye view of the surrounding area with benches to sit down and take it all in.

POSTER DESIGN To illustrate the design intent and artist impression of the company’s projects and design competitions, I was tasked to design a poster for several projects. Aligning to the theme of the projects, whether it be a costal resort or a contemparory business hub, I came up with an illustration that tells the story of the project.

WAYFINDING SIGNAGE DESIGN AND LAYOUT PROJECT HEALTHCARE A&A | Clear and concise diirectional signages help provide a smooth and efficient experience for visitors. These include directory signages, directional signages, utility and signages with braile for the disabled. The main concept of the healthcare facility provided a contemporary and minimalistic direction for the signages, while abiding by codes.

SITE | CONCEPTUAL | PROCESS Through model making for process and conceptual realisations, as well as final presentation models, I have picked up new techniques and skills that have made the model making process more efficient and effective. These techniques inclue lazer cutting, 3d printing and moudling.
