The Umuzi Week of Festivals officially kicks off on Friday, 29 September. It promises to be bigger than ever with more shows, more sports and more action! Sport is one of the things that bring this rainbow nation together, hence the name for the sport section: Rainbow Sportfest. There will be road races, fun runs, cycling, wrestling, rugby, hockey, motocross, soccer, 4x4 tournament, aircraft navigation competition, the Lake Umuzi Regional Motor Rally, dirt bikes, the National Blackball Tournament and more. The festival is packed with sporting activities that everyone can enjoy as participants or spectators. Aquazone’s Springfest will also prove to be a winner with daily family games to participate in, there is a new slide called the Blue Mamba that just begs to be tried out, and the “lazy river” has been lengthened. Friday there is the popular 6-16 water party for under 16’s only where all the slides will be kept open till late. Parents and other over 16’s can only watch from the deck at Bosveld Lapa. The children will also be well catered for with Carnival Square’s “Play as long as you want” promotion, activities as well as Rocky Waters. Between 2 and 6 October the children will be entertained in the mornings with puppet shows, mime acts, clowns and fun as arranged by Toyville and

Planet Pawn. To top this of, a Merry-go-round will be available at the open area next to Proconics. Eish!! will be hosting the 3rd Octoberfest on their decks over all 10 days of the festival. Entrance to the Octoberfest is free thanks to Timber City and House of Tiles.

The music will be acoustic in nature. The Springbok games will be displayed on screen for the rugby fans. The

well-known Flying Lions will perform with Harvards and their Pitts. Friday will see a night display that is very popular. This is made possible by Prommac, Lynco and RickyB. As an alternative to all the beer, there will also be the 3rd “WYN-INNI-TYN”. - Continued on page 3
