SUGGESTED ITINERARIES
Let our sample itineraries inspire you to see all Cherokee has to offer as your next DESTINATION! Scan the QR Code for more details and additional itineraries.
Come paddle the Etowah River. Stroll through our vibrant downtowns, history museums, or picturesque gardens. You will find Cherokee County to be unforgettable.
Brews and Vine:
It’s
Five O’Clock Somewhere
Start your Brew Tour at Reformation Brewery’s research and development facility, located in the heart of downtown Woodstock. Enjoy two bars, a deck, and a beer garden that frequently provides live music. There are usually 16 selections on tap, plus cans, hard seltzers, and mocktails. Queenie’s BBQ offers food in the loft above the brewery.
In Woodstock’s downtown, find a growing mix of shopping and dining venues, beer gardens, and an outdoor amphitheater, along with a calendar full of entertaining events. The art galleries and live performances are a great reason to visit.
If wine or bourbon is more your flavor, head over to the rooftop bar at Rootstock. The main level of the venue offers gourmet food, including tapas, salad, soup, dessert, and charcuterie from a modern kitchen. The second level is built as an entertainment space with 360 degree views of downtown Woodstock. Rootstock hosts special events most weekends throughout the year, with live music in an upstairs “listening room” space.
Historic Half-Day Jaunts
Start your day at one of the unique coffee locations in Canton, Bizarre Coffee (downtown Canton) or Whitetail Coffee (The Mill on Etowah). As you savor your coffee, stroll over to History Cherokee to enjoy six unique galleries, plus interactive exhibits perfect for all ages. Next, spend some time shopping in the many boutiques and shops in downtown Canton or at The Mill on Etowah. Just as your legs are tiring, stop at one of the local restaurants. The food scene ranges from bakeries, ice cream, pub food, barbecue pit masters, and southern specialties to a world of international inspirations.
Add these fun activities to extend your visit:
• Interested in more historic revelations?
Travel just 15 minutes north to Waleska and visit
The Funk Heritage Museum. This museum offers exhibits with dioramas and artifacts, plus contemporary American Indian Art. Located on the Reinhardt University campus.
• Follow the Trail of Tears Driving Tour
• See a LIVE performance at the Falany Performing Arts Center
Adventure Itinerary
There is no shortage of adventures to enjoy in Cherokee County. Choose one of the following for a half day excursion. Choose two options for a full day outdoor adventure!
BIKE - PADDLE - FLY - GOLF
Cherokee County is located “where metro meets the mountains” – which provides a unique opportunity for adventures near vibrant downtown locations. There are three local mountain biking trail systems: Blankets Creek Mountain Bike Trails (Holly Springs), Reinhardt Biking & Hiking Trail System (Waleska), and Taylor Randahl Memorial Bike Trails (Woodstock). To enjoy an outdoor half-day adventure, choose one of the trails above.
If you prefer to spend your time on the water, Murphs Surf offers two fantastic opportunities: paddle board and kayak rental at Little River Marina on Lake Allatoona or tube, raft, or kayak down the Etowah River from The Mill on Etowah.
Are you more interested in seeing Cherokee County from the air? If so, choose one of our local Hot Air Balloon operators for a scenic view from above! See Lake Lanier, Kennesaw Mountain, the Atlanta skyline, and the beginnings of the Blue Ridge and Appalachian mountain ranges as you float through the air.
Finally, if practicing your golf game is more what you had in mind, you will find a multitude of options at our public and semi-private clubs in the area. See Golf pg 12.
Tip: Save time to check out the many shops, bars, and restaurants near these amazing adventures! Add some of the following to build a full weekend itinerary:
• Shop ‘Til You Drop at The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta.
• Wander through the vibrant downtown areas and visit the many boutiques.
• See Gibbs Gardens, one of the top world-class gardens in the southeast and one of “The World’s 10 Best Places to See Daffodils”, Flower Magazine. Gibbs has five unique feature gardens, 32 bridge crossings, and 19 waterfalls.
