Buildings are like vessels, in which humans, plants, and animals can all be contained. Different capacities correspond to different functions and options.

Past several decades have witnessed the galloping development of society resulting in the case that the spread of the epidemic has become more rapid, prison inmates are calling for human rights, low-income groups have less and less living space, and plants and animals have nowhere to go. These facts arouse my grave concerns towards the special groups.

Take the first project as an example. With the development of the epidemic in 2020, many schools will not be able to start school. Even if they can return to school, they will implement closed management. It is a boring experience for students and teachers to take online classes in the dormitory. And a boring experience. So I created an epidemic community where students can live and communicate normally in the community after passing the test.

Vitruvius said that the three major elements of architecture are solid, practical and beautiful. Shape and space are the material properties of architecture; thought and idea are the spiritual properties of architecture; shape and space are the result of architectural creation; thought and idea are the soul of architecture and the guiding principle for the realization of architectural form. Imagine a building as a container. All living things and even non-living things can be the content inside. As architects, we need to use our own methods to solve a series of problems and contradictions in society and provide the greatest help to special groups.

In a room of the same size, different fine devices are set up for different purposes.

In the student dormitory, beds, tables and cabinets are placed in the ‘wall’ device; in the teacher's apartment, double beds, TVs and lockers are placed in the ‘wall’.

COMMUNICATION IS EVERYWHERE Light and shadow are also a poetic expression in this space. This is not just a dormitory community under the epidemic, but also the place in their dreams. In this community, different scenery and imagination is a truly modern poem. The destruction and rebirth of buildings are historical laws, but I hope that the buildings born in response to the epidemic will last forever. This is an experience and a historical memory of people.

02 break through the shackles A Test of Prison Lifestyle Individual work Summer 2020 Prisons are places to educate and reform prisoners who have made mistakes.

The purpose of the prison is to provide psychological counseling so that the prisoners will be aware of their mistakes and will not commit them again after going out; the second is to teach prisoners a craft so that they can have a foothold in society.

In Norse mythology, the world is structured by a world tree. The world tree divides the entire world into three levels, mainly the upper protoss, the middle humans, and the lower demons. Creatures at every level have the desire to break through the upper level. Demons want to rule humans, and humans want to become protoss.

This prison uses the upward nature of all creatures to make a new attempt on prison life. People who have committed different crimes will be given different starting floors. Serious prisoners are detained at the bottom level while other prisoners are detained at the middle level. They need to improve their floors through their own efforts and renovations. In the middle class, prisoners can learn a craft, and when they come to the upper class, they will learn management skills to manage and educate the lower class prisoners. These designs allow prisoners to have more survivability after going out, and prevent them from doing evil again.

In ancient Greece and Rome, prisons were mostly simple structures or underground crypts and cages. Few prisoners can survive. They lost in the game of the nobles, which is annoying and has no human rights.

In the Middle Ages, the prison began to enter the castle. The prison was surrounded by thick stone walls and narrow windows. Inmates in the prison began to have a certain amount of space for activities.

In modern times, the human rights of prisoner s be gan to receive attention, and prisoners worked in prison factories while learning the means of earning a living. The form of the prison has changed.

GROUP4 CONTEMPORARY

Contemporar y prisons have established different prisons for different special groups of people.

The common ones are women's prisons, juvenile prisons, captive camps and psychiatric prisons.

OCTAGONAL 丨 RESURRECTION AND REBIRTH

The octagonal building plan was mentioned in the baptisteries as a tribute to the ‘double’ four-fold way. The octagonal shape symbolises resurrection and rebirth.

As an octagonal reform attempt, the surrounding rooms are all hotel-style compartments. The felons on the ground floor have a small window, while the prisoners on the upper floor have a comfortable floor-to-ceiling window experience. The center of the octagon is a place where prisoners gather for leisure and work.

When felons and prisoners enter the nine-tier world, they will be assigned to different worlds according to different danger levels. The bottom world holds the most dangerous serious prisoners, while ordinary prisoners enter the courtyard directly. They learned survival skills in the atrium, and then they were sublimated into the top world of the Protoss. The space at the bottom level is small and evil, like viruses and spiders spreading in the prison, corresponding to the underworld in the myth; the space at the middle level is rich and imaginative, corresponding to the world in which humans live; the space at the top level is simple and noble, corresponding to the residence of the gods .

At the lowest level of the World Tree, where hell meets the dark elves, a ‘virus’ roots in the dark elves’ land and envelopes the entire hell downwards. This inspiration comes from the Hell of Helheim is a cold, eternal night place, where only demons and undead rest. The people at the bottom are dark and live the worst lives. This makes them want to escape from this lowest level.

People in hell want to break through to the upper level but are restricted by layers of shackles. In this design, I put layers of elevated arches around the entire staircase, symbolizing people breaking through layer after layer of shackles. People can enter the center of the virus ball, look up at the upper world through a very small gap, and deepen people's belief in rushing to the upper level.

The penultimate level of the World Tree is where the dark elves live, also known as the dwarf country. They are powerful craftsmen, possessing all kinds of mysterious powers and profound knowledge, and can create many treasures, but they live in darkness and prisons. The huge cages and small arches are exclusive to the dwarf country.

Light elves live in the gods, but they are connected to the world through pipes. Human beings are in the middle level of the World Tree. Their space is no longer cramped and crowded. They can sit on the steps to watch other people's performances, or sit around to communicate with each other. But greedy people are always dissatisfied with this, they always want to reach the gods through these channels.

Individual Work Winter 2020

Beijing’s housing prices are growing rapidly, and today’s housing prices have become unacceptable for low-income groups, and even rent cannot be afforded. Moreover, the population of Beijing is increasing, and the development of the city cannot keep up with the rapid population expansion, and the public land in the city center has been used to the maximum.

I traveled through the cities and neighborhoods of Beijing and found that there are a large number of ancient city walls preserved in the city. So I suddenly wondered whether there is a huge space for use on the ancient city wall. Can these spaces be maximized so that low-income people have a place in the city of Beijing?

So I started thinking about how to make good use of these spaces on the city wall. Low-income people cannot afford too much living space. Excessive public space is also a luxury and economic burden for them, so I decided to combine office and residence together with a certain amount of public leisure space to make this place change.

To become a world of office life. In this way, low-income people can afford to live in a house without the need to take long transportation to get to work.

History will always provide an important influence on the development of a city. With the linear development of time, the density, height, and space have all changed to cater to the changes in different time periods.The boundary of the city wall is also the boundary of a district, and the city wall has an important guiding role in defining the development direction of a city.

The rapid increase in housing prices and population in Beijing corresponds to the decline in people's living standards and the homelessness of low-income groups. The high-density, low-rise hybrid living-working system can maximize the utilization of the space above the city wall and provide low-income people with convenience for living and working.

SUPER RICH AND SUPER POOR The super rich and super poor in Beijing are very obvious. The residents closer to the city center are richer, and the farther away the residents are, the poorer. My city wall housing prototype aims to break this class concept and insert low-income people into the rich area.

MASSING STUDY: A NEW PROTOTYPE OF COMMUNITY BLOCK Beijing's city wall is also the development framework of Beijing. A section of the city wall site and the space above it are used as a basic prototype. The placement of this prototype in the city can be defined through the study of density.

PLAN TYPE A ACCESSABLE ROOFTOP FREE PUBLIC SPACE The roof space overlooks the two sides of the city wall, as a dividing line between rich and poor, the roof on the city wall has a unique style.

PLAN TYPE B FLOOR HEIGHT=3.600M CENTRIPETAL SPACE The core tube of the shear wall as the structure is divided into ten grids. The grid in the middle is the center of the tube. Other grids provide centripetality.

PLAN TYPE C FLOOR HEIGHT=3.200M SEPARATED SPACE As the most separated space in this system, the living and working of low-income people can be completed in these highdensity small spaces.

With the progress of human civilization, from farming civilization to heavy industry, carbon dioxide emissions have been out of control. Excessive carbon emissions have become a major environmental problem in the world today. Many countries have introduced carbon peak and carbon neutral policies to protect the earth's environment. We found that there are many ruin areas in the city. They are either abandoned all year round or become parking lots and storage points. We decided to use the ruins in these cities and transform them into urban lungs and green spaces in the steel forest.

We carefully analyzed the changes in carbon dioxide concentration on the original ruins and the impact of surrounding buildings on the site's carbon dioxide. Then, on the basis of the original ruined masses, the flow lines of rest and traffic are introduced, and these masses are increased or decreased through the flow lines, so that they are connected with each other. Then we introduced a set of logical framework system by means of parameterization, and then attached 3D printed concrete blocks that simulate plant growth on it, and finally covered these "branches" with vines and herbs, forming us Urban forest.

In China, the environment has never been a topic untalked of. As early as the Zhou dynasty a sense of sustainability had emerged among farmers and hunters. Influential philosophers later on continued to develop that idea into more complex theories that either helped with the imperial system or stayed as a form of religion. Daoism and its concept of Yin and Yang are the epitomes of ancient Chinese environmentalism in that they emphasize a balanced relationship between human and nature.

With the rapid development of economy and urbanization, the distance between architecture and nature is getting farther and farther. With the promulgation of some sustainable development and green building policies, people began to gradually care about the relationship between architecture and nature. How to make buildings and plants co-generate is our starting point. Plants can change the microclimate of the building by adjusting the temperature, humidity and carbon dioxide concentration inside the building. So we simulated the growth path and growth environment of plants and filled the whole building with plants.

As a result, this place for all kinds of cute animals came into being. We have introduced cat cafes, live-broadcast washing areas and exotic animal areas respectively, using classical, simplified and organic techniques to shape the entire indoor space.

The cat cafe area uses some organic and logical arcs, which makes the whole space as a whole and with a lively atmosphere; the live broadcast washing area is based on steps and uses many organic lines. The whole space is full of modern coldness and A sense of streamline; the rare animal area is dislocated with multiple beautiful streamlines, bringing a sense of movement to every visitor.

Using square and round steps as prototypes, through organic mixing, people can produce different activities including rest, cat fun, play and so on.

T h e s t ag e - l i ke s t e p prototype draws people's attention to the pet incubator above the stage.

The organic and extended curve-shaped steps rippling like water waves, these curves are spliced by prototype circles of different sizes.

Round and strip-shaped steps are the basis of style mixing. The circular seating space allows people to gather for leisure and entertainment, while the stripshaped space is more suitable for viewing.

Taking the lecture space of ancient Rome as the phenomenon and prototype, I created such a grand space where people gather from the north and the south to the middle, and people on the east and west sides can also enjoy the rich activities in the center of the stage through the glass. The prototype of the steps is transformed into the space expressed incisively and vividly here.

Taking steps as a prototype, combining the compression and extension of circles and organic curves is an advancement in space.

Two circular steps, one high and one low, are nested with each other. The inner circular space is used to place raccoon pets, while the children on the outer steps can sit or kneel to watch the animals.

The steps are also seats. The sofa is placed on the steps through the gathering function of the circular steps. The classic shape is always accompanied by unparalleled functionality and practicality. This is the charm of the circular steps.

LIVE STUDIO The main function of the block is to show the style of the pet shop to the masses. According to the demand, a special live broadcast area is set up to provide a site for network development. There are four cleaning and hairdressing areas, and the whole material is glass, so the host can see the whole process in an all-round way. For the owners who want to see their pets all the time, we have placed seats in the opposite side, and also set up a special rest and leisure area for the owners who do not have this demand. Distinguished members have special VIP area to meet the needs of different guests.
