Chelsea Daniela Salazar

My name is Chelsea Salazar. I am an incoming senior at North High School, deeply passionate about my education and constantly seeking new experiences and opportunities for growth. I am proud to be in the top 5% of my class academically. With hands-on experience in UX design, I have created prototypes with Meta’s Instagram at the University of Southern California that showcase my creativity and problem-solving skills.

Additionally, I have a solid background in filming, editing footage, and journalism, and I am skilled with various media-related tasks. I am eager to leverage these skills and continue learning in dynamic and challenging environments.

EXPERIENCES

Instagram Scholar/Codesigner

University of Southern California, Feb. 2024 - June 2024

To create a better environment for teens on Instagram, our team of scholars created ideas and prototypes with the guidance of their employees and the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California. Students were trained to use Figma and present their ideas.

Annenberg Youth Academy Alumni

University of Southern California, June 2023 - July 2023

AYA exposes students to first-year college-level courses and strengthens their skills in writing, critical thought, public speech, debate, multimedia production, interviewing, and ethnography. Individual projects were assigned to each student with different focuses targeting current events in today’s world. My project consisted of the debate on the changes to school curriculums regarding ethnic studies.

Academic Decathlon Class Captain

North High School, Torrance, CA, 2024-Current

Responsible for helping North’s Academic Decathlon class prepare for the county and state competition by teaching, planning, and organizing information and lessons with the class advisor. Created the team t-shirt design. Was responsible for the logistics of t-shirt pricing and quantity. Planned, filmed, and edited a video for new members and recruited 40 new members from varying grade levels.

ASB Leadership of Outreach

North High School, Torrance, CA, 2023-2024

Managed school clubs, prepared and worked for two UCLA in-school Blood Drives, a Cereal Drive, a Multicultural Assembly, and assisted in the planning and fundraising for an exchange program with Kashiwa, a sister school in Japan. Created banners, digital posters, and filmed and edited videos for the events stated above. Planned a welcoming school assembly for Kashiwa foreign exchange students. Co-director and writer of the NHS Lip Dub 2024.

ASB Leadership of Communications

North High School, Torrance, CA, 2022-2023

Created posters, banners, flyers, media posts, and designs. I filmed, edited, and managed music, tech, and the ASB Instagram account. Taken photos for school events such as a Multicultural dance, a school-wide trivia game (Mind Madness) and more. Filmed and edited the Senior Sunrise 2022 video. Edited the BTS Lip Dub 2023. Assisted with camera work in the Lip Dub 2023.
