De Cesari 475
De Cesari Yachts seem to be a bit of a pet project for the Italian Ceccarelli design house and feature classic lines above the water coupled with modern design and hull appendages below the waterline, with the net result being a fast, beautiful looking yacht. The recently launched De Cesari 33 demonstrated exactly what an alluring concept that was; now the new 475 promises to do all that but on a bigger scale altogether. The boat is constructed from laminated mahogany with a teak deck and features relatively narrow beam with deep T shaped lead bulbed keel and a single deep rudder. The lines are simple, clean and effortlessly stylish. Inside there are two cabins and a good deal more space than on the 33.

Arcona 415
The Arcona 415 is the latest launch from the Swedish boatbuilders who specialise in fast performance cruisers. The yacht is actually a refined and tweaked version of the existing Arcona 410, which has been updated, principally to allow more light into the saloon via a reconfigured coachroof and bigger portlights in the hull. Fortunately the boat retains the effortless style of her predecessor. Perhaps the most exciting development in this 40 footer is that this will be the first Arcona that comes with electric power as standard. Power is provided by a 15kw Oceanvolt unit with a servoprop that boosts power through hydroregeneration. Arcona has yet to release the figures for range under power but it will be interesting to see what the projections are.
Spirit 30
Ipswich based Spirit Yachts has carved out a pleasing niche for itself by producing sleek wooden yachts with classic lines above the waterline married to a modern hull shape below. It’s an elegant solution that guarantees to turn heads wherever you go. The new Spirit 30 has been conceived as a weekender that can also be raced. As such, the boat is light, with a displacement of just 1,700kg, and a generous sail area. The company has also gone out of the way to make the boat as environmentally friendly as possible. As such, the boat’s sapele frames and Douglas Fir hull planking are sustainably sourced and flax and bio resin are used in non structural areas of the hull. The engine is a Torqeedo Cruise 4.0FP electric pod drive. This offers a 16-mile range at five knots and a maximum speed under power of 6.5 knots.
