SCREEN TIME Viking’s carefully curated digital displays

Offering a daily dose of cultural enrichment, the onboard Atrium display features thoughtfully selected imagery and celebrates Viking’s cultural partnerships across the globe Screen time

In keeping with the special touches that evoke Viking heritage, each Viking ocean ship features a large display screen in the Atrium showing a selection of carefully curated imagery to add insight to the destinations you are visiting. Via partnerships with cultural organisations around the world, guests have access to a unique collection, tailored not only to their itinerary but also evoking the exploratory heritage of the Vikings. e Royal Horticultural Society is one such partner institution. It has worked with Viking to provide access to its images of botanic art. As Fiona Davison, Head of Libraries and Exhibitions, says: “In addition to being beautiful, national ower emblems often give insight into the eco systems, culture and history of a country and we hope that guests enjoy seeing botanical illustrations of the national owers of the countries they pass through.”

Collections displayed at port and at sea are dierent and project a new slide every few minutes, featuring a huge variety of genres.

AT PORT When docked in port, guests are able to view intriguing images depicting local culture relating to the port country.

From the atlas: Images from the British Library featuring maps and anthropological images from travel books spanning ancient times through to the 19th century.

iconic paintings, sculptures and other historical artefacts from the port country.

Coins: Photographs of local coins reect the stories that a nation and its leaders tell themselves and the rest of the world.

National flowers: Curated by the Royal Horticultural Society, these vivid illustrations of national owers in watercolour are displayed along with their Latin names.

Stamps: Expressing the cultural identity of the port country, these images include a selection from Viking chairman Torstein Hagen’s personal stamp collection.

Travel posters: Celebrating wanderlust and the creation of cosmopolitanism, these posters feature vibrant graphic design from the rst half of the 20th century.

AT SEA While cruising at sea, we take the time to celebrate our Viking heritage as well as the ideals of discovery and exploration through international travel.

Norwegian nature photography: is collection is curated by former navigator and award-winning Viking resident photographer Alastair Miller and captures the beauty and allure of the open sea and its surroundings in Norway.

Viking art collection: Made up of art pieces on display on our ocean ships, this curation of work celebrates the nest Nordic art collection at sea.

TODAY IN HISTORY Commemorating turning points in world history, as well as important moments in the history of Viking cruises, this collection includes information about world events, artistic and literary contributions and scientic advances that have guided and shaped our world.
