“Tiyak na malaking tulong ang bagong POB partikular na tuwing peak season kung saan umaabot sa halos 5,000 ang daily average passenger traffic sa Port of Masbate habang 700 to 1,000 bawat araw

World-Class Terminal at Pinakamalaking Passenger Terminal Building sa Pilipinas, Binuksan na sa Publiko

Source: www.ppa.com.ph

March 27, 2023

“Tuwing peak season, nasa humigit kumulang

PPA’s container monitoring system remains grounded

Source: www.manilatimes.net

April 19, 2023

The senators asked about the controversial Trusted Operator Program- Container Registry and Monitoring System (TOP-CRMS) that has undergone halting pressures from several business groups. The said program is a proposed solution of PPA to combat increased incremental cost of transacting in the country’s logistics chain.

One of the objectives of the said program is to prescribe the policy in the

registration and monitoring of containers entering and leaving PPA ports including the scheduling, loading, unloading, release and movement of all containers.

Under the Presidential Decree No. 857, PPA is mandated to monitor and manage the entry, exit, re-entry and re-export of containers at PPAadministered ports. “The mandate of the PPA is to ensure the free flowing traffic of containers, of cargo to our ports and we need to monitor, we

need to know when the containers will actually be brought back or when they will be coming in to be able to manage the terminals efficiently because the terminals only have a limited space. They may be many number of hectares but always limited,” PPA GM Santiago said.

Seven Tips to Excel at Any Job

1 Foster a good relationship with your boss.

Get to know your boss. That doesn’t mean you need to be best friends. But, it’s important for you to understand what they value and what their priorities are. If you know those things, you can make sure that your work supports those priorities. Then, if your boss sees that your work is helping them be successful, your value will increase.

Unsure what your boss’s priorities are? Ask yourself:

• How does my boss define success?

• Have they clearly expressed their priorities to me?

• How do they expect my work to support theirs?

• How is their own performance measured?

Keep your boss updated, share wins that they will find valuable and offer insights that will help them be more effective in their job.

2 Be a positive influence.

If you want to make a good impact on your colleagues, start by viewing your success and your team’s success as one and the same. Avoid being centered only on your own needs but think of the needs of the people you work with. That mindset will help you establish win-win relationships and make a positive impression on others.

Try to help team members whenever you can and show your appreciation for their work and accomplishments. A few words to let someone know you value their work can make their day! And if you notice someone having a hard time, a few words of encouragement could turn their day around.

18 FEATURES

3 Be professional.

Professionalism today is all about making your interactions with your co-workers appropriate, meaningful and valuable. A lot of this has to do with answering the question: What does it feel like to be on the other side of me?

Are you a person who keeps their commitments? Do others look forward to interacting with you? Are you respectful of others and their time? Do you bring value to the team or take away from your work group?

Also, avoid petty gossip. It often doesn’t end well, can damage relationships and it is ultimately a poor reflection on you. Plus, it’s a huge distraction from productive work and an energy drain. Speak to people not about people.

FEATURES 19

4 Take initiative.

If you want to grow in your role and make the most out of it, the best way is to take initiative! When at work, try not to take for granted the way things have always been done, but instead, consider better ways of doing your job.

If you don’t wait for others to solve issues and proactively try to identify possible solutions, you’ll quickly establish your value as a problem solver!

Keep in mind that it’s always important to be respectful and polite when you offer suggestions. Instead of simply pointing out issues, try to offer solutions and more importantly, offer to be part of these solutions.

20 FEATURES

5 Know when to ask for help.

While being proactive and taking initiative is great, it doesn’t mean you need to do everything on your own.

If you’re unsure about how to perform a task or need extra expertise, reach out to someone. You’ll avoid making mistakes, save time and get a great opportunity to learn something new.

6 Accept feedback and be willing to learn.

Whenever you receive feedback at work, try not to resent it. It’s ok to take a second to be upset about it but try not to react defensively. Instead, breathe, listen, and try to absorb what you’re told. The best thing you can do is to ask questions and make sure to fully understand what the person giving feedback means.

The truth is, when someone gives you feedback, it’s proof that they care and want to give you opportunities to improve.

7 Communicate well

If you want to communicate well, don’t just focus on getting your ideas across but start with active listening.

Remember that communication isn’t just about words. Pay attention to non-verbal cues. They can give you great insight on how people are feeling and reacting to what you’re telling them. If you’re talking to people over the phone, pay attention to their tone of voice.

Finally, the best communicators also often ask for feedback.

If you see that something you said might have made someone unhappy or uncomfortable, address it, and ask for feedback on how you can improve. That will go a long way to building good relationships with coworkers.

FEATURES 21

1 Perform a time audit.

The first step to having a better handle on your time is to have a clear understanding of how you’re spending it. That’s why a time audit is so valuable.

A time audit will show you where you’re spending too much –or too little time.

How to perform a time audit for work:

• Determine how much time you have available each day.

• Compile a list of your tasks.

• Make note of how much time each task should take.

• Time yourself to see how long it actually takes for you to complete each item on your list.

22 FEATURES

Time Management Tips: Improve Productivity and Reduce Stress at Work

2 Set a time limit on tasks.

Using the data you gathered from your time audit, make note of which responsibilities you know can (and should) be done faster. These are your areas for improvement.

Next, set time limits on tasks and improve efficiency:

• Review what items took too long to complete and how long it took to complete them.

• Set reduced time goals or set a time challenge for yourself.

• Ensure you have a timer or alarm running to alert you once the allotted time has ended.

• Repeat regularly.

FEATURES 23

3

Turn your most important tasks into habits.

According to Psychology Today, it takes 66 days on average to form a habit. The best way to do that?

REPETITION.

How to turn tasks into habits:

• Remember that these tasks are not optional.

• Carve specific time into your day for each task.

• Don’t push things off for another day.

• If something comes up during the designated time, make time for it elsewhere.

The more consistently you work on a task, the more efficient and skilled you will become – meaning your tasks will become easier and faster to complete.

24 FEATURES

4 Get organized and plan ahead.

Relying on your memory for what needs to get done is anxiety-inducing. Organizing and planning ahead can help reduce that stress.

• Write down everything that needs to get done. Whether it’s for the day, week or month, it’s incredibly helpful to have a visual for what needs to get done – and by when.

• Prioritize your projects. This way you can ensure you’re focusing on the larger, more urgent priorities at hand, but you won’t forget the smaller things.

• For a longer-term or bigger project, break up your tasks into bite-size, manageable pieces.

Having a plan for your to-do list will add more structure to your day and will help you make sure you’re not letting things fall by the wayside. Remember, you control your time. Your time doesn’t control you.

FEATURES 25

Three words to best describe you:

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

never stop learning

How long have you been with the Company?

It’s been years since I joined this company.

What do you like most about your job?

I am able to learn and face new challenges every day.

I also had the chance to challenge myself to present quality work at the end of the day.

As time goes by and we get older, it doesn’t mean that it’s the end of us learning things or trying something out of our box. Our lives don’t end that way. As long as we are living and have the opportunity to grow and learn, we should always explore new ways of doing things and challenge ourselves to be better.

If your department were a superhero, who would it be and why?

because this taught us that we don’t need superpowers to be great or help people. All we need is courage to face our fears.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working? Rest and read books.

Where’s your favorite place in the world?

My house.

It is where I can rest and have some time alone.

If you could meet anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

My relatives.

I would really like to ask them how life was before and how they overcame it.

Describe one scenario in your work where you exercised going the extra mile for the Company. Making things possible with their work.
