Events at Chelmsford City Racecourse

We are very excited to share our beautiful venues, many newly upgraded and expanded in 2023. The Club Restaurant and Lounge has undergone a major refurbishment, offering spectacular panoramic views of the grounds in decadent surroundings. Our dedicated in-house catering team offers the finest cuisine and exquisite wines and drinks to elevate your event experience. Our Summer Marquee has almost doubled in size, with upgraded facilities including brand-new bars and buffet stations, multiple cloakroom areas, fantastic new equipment, and toilet facilities to support hosting up to 3000 guests for standing receptions or up to 1100 guests for served sit-down dining. These improvements make the space the largest purpose-built indoor event venue in East Anglia. It will also be the home of immersive private Christmas parties in December this year, do get in touch to book.

The facilities at Chelmsford City Racecourse have been conveniently designed to be fully accessible to all guests and we offer direct venue access for the load-in and load-out process.

The versatility of our private hire spaces makes us the first choice for large events in Essex. We can facilitate indoor and outdoor events throughout the year on nonracedays and private spaces on racedays for corporate entertaining, fundraisers and private functions.

In 2022, we reopened our Fairwood Brasserie after a full refurbishment and upgraded our entire external lighting system. We also now offer extremely high-speed internet across all venues and the wider site.

Followed by major renovations to our Summer Marquee and Club Restaurant in 2023, we are committed to continually improve our site in 2024 and beyond.

Private Raceday Entertaining

Private raceday entertaining is our speciality. Ideal for corporate entertaining, charity auctions, your summer party or a unique teambuilding offering.

A variety of luxury marquees are available to accommodate private groups from 100 to 1,100 guests. Packages can be tailored to best suit each event and your requirements.

All packages include:

• Private use of your event space

• Private terrace with parasols

• Private betting facilities within your space

• Televisions throughout the space to ensure no-one misses the action

Race Sponsorship

Want to add something extra special? Race sponsorship will give you a unique opportunity to showcase and immerse your brand in the events of the day. This includes:

• Admission to the racecourse

• Access to all areas of the site, including premium viewing from the Home Straight Terrace and Parade Ring (excludes entry to the grandstand restaurants)

Our most popular package at £125 per person includes:

• Engaging Tipster Talk to kickstart the event

• Sound system for speeches and background music

• Racecard per guest

• Lucky dip tote wallet per guest

• Welcome glass of prosecco and half a bottle of wine per guest

• 1pm Client access to the racecourse

• 3pm Guest arrival and welcome prosecco

• 4pm Tipster talk

• 5pm First race

• 5.15pm Dinner service commences

• 8:30pm Last race

• 8:45pm Last orders at the bar

• 9pm Bar close and guests depart

• 9:30pm Venue closes Timings
