Nunchucks are a weapon typically used in martial arts, but also by travelers for their convenience. They consist of one stick with another smaller stick attached to the end at a perpendicular angle. The end of the shorter stick is held between one's palms, and rotated around the longer stick with each hand.

This then can be used as a weapon — both as an impact device and to quickly entangle one's opponent by swinging it over them then engaging it over their head or arm — or simply as an aid in walking such that you're always holding onto something.

Nunchaku are most often seen in forms of media like films and TV shows, but they're also sold as novelty items that look dangerous. Of course an ordinary person would not

use nunchucks as a weapon, and if they were used as a weapon they'd be very ineffective for that purpose.

How Nunchucks are Made?

Nunchucks are a weapon consisting of two short sticks connected by a short piece of rope or chain, usually mounted on a long handle. The sticks are joined by either a piece of metal or a flexible connector. The martial art weapon is known in Japanese as nunchaku and in Chinese as jianzi and is used for breaking boards, bricks, bottles and other objects.

In addition to the nunchuck used in martial arts, it has become popular among stunt performers due to its dangerously quick hand motions with potentially lethal consequences at close range. While there are many different styles of nunchuck, the most common ones have four basic parts: ●

The main body is made of wood or metal and is assembled in three sections. The first section consists of two handles that are connected at a 90 degree angle.

The hole through which the second section passes is slightly larger than the diameter of the second section, allowing for the handle to rotate freely about the second section.

The third section protrudes from one or both ends of the handle. It can be pointed or blunt, depending on design and could be either a part of or separate from a chain. Most nunchaku include a hole in one end to accept a wrist strap for ease of use and to prevent them from being dropped easily.

Power and Efficiency of Nunchaku The power and efficiency of nunchucks are the perfect weapon for any self-defender.

They're so lethal and effective that many martial arts schools have banned their use in competition because they could not find a way to effectively defend against them.

Nunchucks are two sticks connected by a chain and held together by the hands of the user. One stick is typically shorter than the other. The shorter stick is called as "the handle" or konti, which rests inside your palm when you hold it, while the longer one is called as "the shaft", which reaches from your hands to your arm's length out from your body when you swing them around (in typical self-defense fashion).

The nunchaku are usually made of metal or plastic, with strings on the handle and the shaft, which allows the handles to be connected together and then swung around. The strings also help in tightening the grip and keeping it safe from slipping.

For safety, most nunchucks have a rubber covering at their ends to protect the user's hands. In Wudang Quan, Quan Fa (the style that ZhongShan practices), nunchucks are called "power sticks".

Self Defense and Martial Arts Use Billed as “the next martial arts craze for the street-wise,” the focus of the modern nunchaku is on defending oneself in an urban environment. Progressively, those skills are being incorporated into mixed martial arts competition and even Olympic events like tai chi chuan.

Nunchucks use in modern times is not just limited to martial arts training, as it has been incorporated into many forms of both self-defense and sports. This modern interpretation of nunchucks use has given rise to variations in the form of the implement and its manipulation.
