Richard Jackson COMPANY:

JacksonBuilt Custom Homes CREDENTIALS:

What began as a passion for exploring houses under construction at a young age eventually led to a culmination of over 20 years of experience in the industry. In 2009, Richard founded JacksonBuilt Custom Homes and designed his company around a persistent standard for unsurpassed quality and the highest level of customer service.

What are some of the unique features of this home? This home is situated on a deep water lot, so the outdoor living aspect is quite spectacular. It includes a vaulted rear porch with a wood burning fireplace and pool overlooking the Wando River. There are wall-to-wall, 10-foot sliding doors across the rear of the home that frame the view and bring the outdoors in, which was important to the homeowners.

Were there any challenges that presented themselves throughout the process? With a deep and narrow lot, we had to work as a team with the architect during the design process to make the best use of the building area available and incorporate our client’s wish list. For example, stairs had to be incorporated into the rear porch elevation, giving the illusion they are hidden, to allow for the pool to fit on the lot.

What advice do you have for homeowners looking to build a custom home? Without question, we believe the most cohesive home design is the result of the homeowner, builder, and architect working together from the beginning. A collaborative team approach will streamline the process and reduce building costs while adding value. Selecting a building team to work with you in the planning stages ensures your final design can be built within your budget and with minimal changes along the way.
