As we head into the New Year, make sure you have all the resources needed to be healthy and well in 2020.
If you have not signed up for a Medicare plan by December 7, there is still plenty of time to change or select a plan over the next three months. The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period begins Jan. 1. 2020 through March 31, 2020. During this period, you can elect to change to a new Medicare Advantage Plan, or go to Original Medicare with or without a Part D Prescription Drug Program. You can use this period if you have a Medicare Advantage Plan, not to change to a stand-alone Part D Prescription program.
If you are confused about your options, you can always contact your local SHIP office to get free Medicare counseling. Locally, the State Health Insurance Program provider is Access to Healthcare Network, located in the Reno Town Mall. When in doubt, it is always best to ask Medicare or a local SHIP representative how best to meet your health care needs in the New Year.
