Awards to be Presented This Evening

The Matthews EDGE Cup is awarded to the student who has made the most progress in PiXL EDGE during the past year and was presented to the school by the Matthews family. The Walker Cup is awarded to the student in Year 9 who has, throughout their first three years at Charters, “Had fun, and got the work done.” The Holy Trinity Cup for Cristian Commitment is awarded by Holy Trinity Church, Sunningdale, to a student who displays Christian commitment to the school. The Tyr Abad Effort Prize is awarded for producing excellent work as a result of a Tyr Abad residential course. The Tyr Abad Social Prize is awarded to a student who made an outstanding contribution to the success of a Tyr Abad course through excellent teamwork and encouragement of other students’ efforts. The Harling Cup is presented to the student who has shown the most improvement in Spanish. It was presented by Tony Harling, a former teacher of Spanish at Charters. The Burton Cup was awarded by Ernie Burton, a former Forester who made a major contribution to the setting up of Tyr Abad. It is awarded to the most improved student in Year 10. The Barbour Award for Community Service is awarded to the student in Year 12 who has made the most valuable contribution to the local community. It was presented by Michael Barbour, a former Chair of Governors at Charters. The Ascot Round Table, Duke of Edinburgh Prize is awarded to a student who has made a significant contribution to the success of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. The Poulton Cup for Business Studies was presented to the school by a former student, in gratitude to Charters for setting him on his successful career path in business. It is presented to recognise a student with natural aptitude for the subject. The Dobbin Cup for Geography is awarded to a student who shows talent and commitment to all aspects of the subject and was presented to the school by John Dobbin, a former Head of Geography. The Tom Martin Cup was awarded to the School by the Martin family in memory of their son. It is presented to the student who has made every effort to improve in Physics over the last year in Year 12. The Joy Ardy Cup for Creative Writing was awarded to the school by a former English teacher who wished to encourage young people to stretch themselves creatively and produce outstanding writing.
