All Golden Bay’s senior teams were involved in away fixtures last Saturday. But life on the road appeared to suit the Bay’s men and women who came home with two wins and a draw – that’s seven points from a possible nine.

Goats’ magnificent seven

Seven seems to be the magic number; in the previous week’s home game, the Goats put seven past Nelson Suburbs Academy, and they repeated the scoreline this week against FC Nelson 2nd XI. Not only is their attack firing on all cylinders, but the Goats’ defence is looking rock solid. For the second game running, the Bay side kept a clean sheet.

Final score: FC Nelson 2nd XI 0 vs GB Mountain Goats 7.

The win puts the Goats level on points with Division leaders FC Nelson Karenni.

Masterful Stingrays

In the Masters Division, Golden Bay Stingrays’ victory over Wakefield propels them into the top half of the table where they sit in fourth spot.

Final score: Wakefield FC 1 vs GB Stingrays 3.

Shield Maidens consolidate

The match between Golden Bay Shield Maidens and FC Nelson Diamonds ended all square, a result that consolidates the Maidens’ mid-table position in the Women’s Premiership.
